Morning. What sounds like a hundred pigeons cooing over something echoing around rain slicked road and rooftop and up to the slate grey sky.

Radio & TV are calling the storms super cells with cyclonic winds, which I guess is a fancy way of saying clueless whisky tango foxtrot :)

Complaint:  Since getting rid of cable TV and going to Internet TV instead I've struggled with using my TV's remote control to enter web addresses and passwords and do navigation on websites.  Sucks royal swamp water.  So, I figured a wireless keyboard/mouse would help.  Today I found just exactly what I wanted.   A small keyboard (not a big honkin' thing), that I could hold in my lap while in my TV chair.  It has a built in touchpad so I don't need a mouse. https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/products/keyboards/all-in-one-media-keyboard/n9z-00001

It's a little more pricey than I wanted to spend but I got it anyway.  So I plug the receiver into the USB port of my smart TV and sit down to enjoy my new freedom.  NOT! sad

The TV recognition of keyboard/touchpad input is slow as molasses and I can't type or navigate rapidly.  Much of the time it repeats characters or misses characters.  Some of the features of the TV respond to keyboard/mouse controls but most don't.  In short, it's next to useless. crying  I tested the keyboard/touchpad on a computer and it works great, but not on my TV.  (Bah, humbug!)  Are all smart TVs this persnickity?

    stuck in my database schema.

i set up a field in the user table to catch a user's last login. so i could show every record since their last login.

but haven't figured out how to track what the users have read, though.
not without doing something like making a table/query to join every username to every trouble ticket, would be astrodimensionally huge.

If the user's last login is in the table, why would you need to query the entire database for all users for this one user?  Your logic is lacking.

    Dana

table 10 users and dynamically changing,
table 1,000 trouble tickets and more everyday.

how do you keep track for every user  which trouble tickets they havent read?
logging in doesnt mean they've read their que.

i know is feasible, cause this forum does it with threads and replies.

'Nother complaint:  For at least two years I've been noticing that my eyesight is getting worse.  Gradually getting dimmer, and more blurry.  I got a new prescription and glasses last year which helped the blurriness for a while but not the poor night vision.  Now in the last 6 months the deterioration has accelerated.  I see rings around bright lights, the world looks like I'm viewing it through cheesecloth and I can barely read road signs anymore even by looking through the very top of my progressive lens glasses.

Of course I went to the eye doctors (a couple of them) and it's confirmed to be cataracts.  Yellowing of the lens, developing of semi-opaque spots in the lens and now development of little bubbles on or around the lens.  I've known this for a couple of months and the surgery is planned for the 11th (left eye) and 18th (right eye) of October.  I'm hoping this works out OK and everybody says it will, but I'm probably not as relaxed as I should be.  I worry that my insurance company will screw me.  I worry that my doctor could be incompetent, I worry that the problems of a fixed focus lens will be a major setback in my life, especially for close work on the computer or reading.

But everybody says my far focus seeing will be great and the world will seem much brighter again.  If so, I'm really looking forward to being able to see the stars again.  I haven't seen them clearly for many years.

Well, there's your first problem...Access!  Really, I don't understand why they kept that dog and got rid of Visual FoxPro!

If you have a form, then put in some code that is triggered when a thread is read, which will contain the current datetime and the user's login name.  Add a datetime column to the table containing the message... LastRead.  The code should put the current datetime into that column upon access.  If there are separate rows for each message (post) in the thread, then that is where to put it.  If there is just one row per thread, and the thread is just a long, run-on body of text, then put it in that row.

Henry the sick goldfish passed away sometimes during the night. Private funeral will be held tonight or tomorrow depending on weather.

...cold but no rain, yet. Looking at the extended radar map, that's still most definitely on the way here, probably by mid afternoon.

Partly sunny out, mocking me to put some shoes on and go to the coffee shop, but need to "bundle up" compared to what I've been wearing over the last several months. Looks like it's time for the Hawai'ian shirts to go back into the closet for winter.

Morning. Red-bottomed purply-grey storm clouds rolling in with the new day and the wind is picking up enough to stir treetops a while after dawn :)
