    ...OK this is scary.

Was doing some test renders this afternoon.  When I cancelled the last one because the lighting didn't look quite right, the programme went into "not responding" mode after which I got a BSOD.  Let it rebooted then shut down clean to do a clean start afterwards when I got a notice "Installing Update 1 of 1".  Now I should not have seen this as I turned updating completely off on Saturday due to change MS made to the W7/8.1 update policy that begins this month.

I just restarted the system after it shut down and all I got is the 'Starting Windows" screen for about ten minutes and the HDD light on steady as if something large was loading There was then a message that said something about "Registry Update 52" and finally the login screen appeared. For a moment I thought somehow MS slipped a fast one on me and tried to install W10 (it happened to someone I know last week where they booted up their W7 system to find it had W10 instead).

After I restarted I ran a cleaner utility and noticed that one of the files listed had the Win 10 logo ("Windows MS Search").  Never saw this before.

Whatever this unknown update was, things seem to be running much slower than before, including opening up the Daz Programme.  At least the file I was working on wasn't corrupted (which has happened in the past if it blue screened while a scene file was open).

I mounted a share point on someone's win 10 laptop and straightaway it tried to index the half million or so image files that just got shared, it thought they were photographs ! Anyhow that machine looked like it froze....

wont buy a m/b with built in wifi or bluetooth.  neverrrrr

...if I don't have a connection, I cannot download useful updates like GPU drivers as well as ones for my anti malware and AV utilities. I also use the DIM for download/installs as well as keeping up on updates to content and being able to evaluate beta releases (which can only be installed through the DIM) . Other than those purposes I don't use it for general online activity.  Again I had Windows updating turned completely off.  The only time an update message appears when shutting down or booting up is when the update comes directly from MS so I don't know how whatever that update was got through.

if i find i need a driver update, i manually search >.< on my netbook, then shuttle it over via flashdrive.

i only d/w updates if something i want to use needs it.

only thing i can think of right naos, luxrender 2 might need new drivers.

Morning. The weather gnomes seem to be taking the day off, dawn breaking bright and clear on a big bright blue sky streaked with sunny gold :)

...they've moved up here for the next several days with 50s and rain, though a promise of 70s for the weekend (well, we'll see on Caturday Morning).

Starting to cop some tropical storms here, can't believe how much it rained I guess it would be hotter if it weren't so cloudy :)

some serious Hurricane Matthew woes, i think might be in Miss Kulay's area?

I was in Wallymart a while ago and I saw this and thought of MissBadWolf's Betas...

Of course I forgot about it for like a month, but I was deleting pix, so I figured I'd post it before doing so... I was so tempted to put this with the Polish Spring waters...

I guess I was amused by this too...  I guess since I don't really look at video game mags like I did twenty years ago, I don't really stay on top of what is trending or new...

I think I'm glad about that.

Both of these images are a testament to how stubborn I am... I very casually tried to add these as thumbnails to the "OT-A Thread for Images" thread, but for some reason (most likely iPhone related), despite being rotated from their original orientation, they kept reverting to their original position every time I tried to upload them... I guess when iPhone and iPad allow you to edit the picture, you are only visually altering it... The data remains unchanged and it displays everywhere else unaltered...

So I defied stupid Apple insisting on doing it their way and had to alter the images in Photoshop...  !%#!? you Apple!

Yeah, I spent fifteen minutes trying to upload two stupid useless images with absolutely no comedic value whatsoever for no good reason other than I'm a stubborn pain in asterisk...

And to further illustrate that, I did a brief happy hamster dance when the images loaded.

Clearly my standards have lowered greatly.

    Buppy!

That’s right, despite all the talk about pet dander, having a pet in the home can actually be a tool for allergy prevention. The catch? Man’s best friend can help prevent allergies in young children -- not in people who already have a pet allergy.

“In general we don’t recommend getting rid of dogs to keep a baby from becoming allergic to a dog,” Dr. Sublett said. “In fact, there’s some evidence that early exposure may ensure a tolerance.”

I don't know where Miss Kulay is but I've been watching surf cams in the Melbourne, FL area.  I used to live in Indialantic (directly on the coast east of Melbourne).  I've been through at least 6 hurricanes there but this is threatening to be the worst.  I now live in NY State well out of the way of the storm but I always take an interest when storms threaten that area because I know the weak spots that could be ravaged.

Relatives have retired down by the keys.

Read parts of South Carolina are evacuating.  News is comparing it to Hurricane Andrew, saying this one is worse.  Hoping it's just news hype.

gonna see if i can write a function to change a form's record source. save me some typing in the long run.

    lookin silly so far  smiley

    finished the tables i think.

instead of making separate tables for equipment, etc,
i'm using group queries for the dropdown lists,
so if it's in the trouble report it will be in the list.
    won't hafta maintain separate lists.enlightened
cuz it would prolly end up my job to update those.

the lil earths on the add log buttons i rendered from carrara native content.
    crossing the streams!!

mario and yoshi can't stay with the final draft, thinking the seahatchling or 3du dragon? with ...?

Betta water is probably expensive.  A cup of Starbucks water is free.  Oh wait I am supposed to be drinking more water than coffee or lemonade.  Why is the ice coffee cup bigger than the water cup?

i'm out of realestate on the main form of my database project.

the bus was 2 hours late last night.  my bus stop, no shelter, no bench.
leaned against the signpost, there some tree leaves for shelter
i was so out of it when the bus finally showed up, had my first experience of being "managed"
lady was older than me, lol
the handicap seats were all folded up cuz of someone with luggage.
it's like my brain couldn't process it.  i was whining i wanted to sit in the old lady seats.  so, this older than me lady grabbed my arm and steered me to a regular set.

bus was packed, all the commuters, was like 3 bus loads of people all on one bus.  was like being in the city again.

then 2 buses showed up back to back.

i'm just realizing now what happened yesterday.  when yoo old people want to push yoo around.
    get off my lawn

...in situations like that, I always look back down the road to see if there is a second bus (which there usually is, sometimes even two, and they usually are almost empty).  Hate standing on a sardine packed bus with someone breathing (or coughing) over my shoulder. Don't usually sit in the "old folks" seats as my legs don't bend well causing my feet to stick out into the aisle which can trip people.

Ugh forums are as slow as a banana slug again.

...well had a wonderful day.  Met with a friend, went out for lunch at this great seafood house (owned by a fellow from Wisconsin) where you can get Wisconsin lake perch.  Then went to a cider pub and quaffed several pints of cask aged cider after which I stopped at my neighbourhood pub for a "classic" pre-prohibition style whiskey sour.

Now taking a bit of my CBD "medicinals" to ward off the  joint and bone gnomes.

Looks like bad hierarchy and no symmetry.

Right to left symmetry oughta do it.  Damned if I'd put that chest bone out there though.

    Rig from scratch.  Not me.
