...still on W7.  Hated what I called the "Fisher Price™" UI of W8/W8.1 and don't care to give MS control of my system with W10.

You can turn off all those invasive things in Windows 10 Pro, and Home as well.  I did it on the laptop and on my desktop.

What did somewhat surprise me is that the Company that has built my last 3 computers is still offering a chance to have a new PC built with Win7 Pro as an OS.   Doesn't offer Win 8  just all flavours of Win 10 and Win 7 Pro

...stupid mobile app keeps signing me out. Unlike when I'm at home where I am still on the thread I am sent to the forums content page and have to manually navigate back (which on a phone is a pain itself), then go to the bottom of the page to get the link to log back in.

They must have plenty of the OEM discs still in stock.  MS isn't sending them out anymore, but still allowing vendors to use their stock until it's gone.  I think they will tell everyone to stop that pretty soon, though.  Maybe I'm wrong.  And yeah, 7 was well liked, and so is 10, but almost everybody hated 8 and 8.1.  laugh

...well the snow turned to that evil freezing rain. The tram lines are out of commission  because of ice on the overhead wires. This is the one thing I miss about snow back in Wisconsin.  It snowed it stopped and all was fine none of this "transitional" freezing rain rubbish. I would prefer 10" of snow over 1/4" of ice.

The irony is, they both come from the same brewery! (although Fosters is brewed here by Heineken under licence rather than imported)

Snow, snow, snow.  About 6 inches of the stuff so far.  Luckily it's the light fluffy kind and swept easily off of my porch.  New landlord was here at 8:30 to plow the driveway but based on the noises it was making this morning, I fear that his truck/plow vehicle  isn't going to be up to the job when the real snow hits in February and there's already 20 tons of the stuff piled around the place. surprise   Ten-day forecast has snow for nine of them. frown  So, pretty sure it's going to be a White Christmas.

Grumble.  Burglar alarm system was giving intermittent false alarms.  Alarm company came out on Monday and did work.  After they left, I discovered that they had somehow disabled the leave-the-house delay on one of the two exit doors, causing it to alarm.   This morning I found that the intermittent sensor problem was still present.  So, another service call is needed, grumble grumble grumble.

In case nobody here has noticed...There is a new coupon for a free RDNA product.  It's in the banner in the store.  Nice selection list, too.  Yesterday they had a different coupon.  I got Ultra Genesis Studio for Iray box lights.  Today I got Ultra Genesis Bokeh 2 - Into the Night, which works with the first item I got.  Iray stuff!

Also, Design Anvil's Let It Snow is free today!!!     smiley  That was in my wishlist!

...woke up to an icy wonderland this morning   All the trams and streetcars were out of service for a good part of the morning because of ice on the overhead wires.  Several bus routes that travel into the teh hilly areas around town were cancelled for the morning. Finally warming up enough to start melting the ice:

Elvis Presley likes to sing about blue.  blue suede shoes, blue christmas,  can't remember who was giving his thrills on blueberry hill.

major complainnt with ms access.  so like, at first there was no wheelmouse scrolling.  turns out they disabled it, cuz people were unwittingly saving changes in records when they scrolled.  research msdn, ms had a code snippet to paste into access mousewheel event.  thought problem was solved.  but, if your in a text box, it doesn't scroll the verticel bar in the textbox, it scrolls yoo to another record.

so tried putting an if in their, if the current control was a memo box, don't scroll.  it wasn't listening.  so i cut out the whole code from the mousewheel event to start over fresh. surprise but, without the code in there, it was still scrolling record.  closed the database, rebooted, no code in there, wheelscroll was still scrolling,

The callback object which handles scrollwhell events is still attached to your ui, your code overrode some methods but the event handler object persists maybe by reference? or a vacant subclass? boilerplate interface ?
