    It's Beethoven day! smiley

Hard to choose best works of Beethoven, there are so many that rise to excellence.  My preference is for his piano works and his 5th, 7th, & 9th symphonies.  Not particularly fond of non-piano quartets, quintets, etc.  I like the big piano solo stuff (sonatas) or the big orchestral works (concertos, symphonies).

Much rapid happy fun with the 3rd movement of his 3rd piano concerto. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VnN5ptP6sQ

At the other end of scale is the slow and more sad 2nd movement of his Piano Sonata #8 ("Pathetique"). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8XYrNrlBj4 (2nd movement starts @ 10:56) Despite being only a frustrated amateur pianist I could at one time I could play the 1st and 2nd movements. surprise The 1st movement is much fun to play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8XYrNrlBj4 The real fun begins @ 1:40 devil Never did tackle the 3rd movement (@ 16:00) though. frown

Depending how much rum/brandy/whiskey it has been fed

    1. Remove the cake from the oven, poke holes in it with a skewer and spoon over 2 tbsp of your chosen alcohol. Leave the cake to cool completely in the tin.

    2. To store, peel off the baking parchment, then wrap well in cling film. Feed the cake with 1-2 tbsp alcohol every fortnight, until you ice it. Don’t feed the cake for the final week to give the surface a chance to dry before icing.

Today’s forecast high temps across much of Canada and the upper midwest are colder than the last reported high from Mars by the Mars Curiosity Rover.

    flying squirrels!!

i asked the innernet if there were flying marusupials, the Flying Squirrel!

Flying squirrels aren't marsupials, but there is the sugar glider, which is a marsupial. They resemble each other, but are unrelated.

For example, the sugar glider has a prehensile tail instead of a big fluffy one.

squirrels work their fluffy tails, like the buppies when they turn their head sideways

...bugger, looks like upgrading my system just became more expensive.  Went to Newegg and chekced the 24 GB DDR3 memory kit I had on my wishlist and the price went up by 50$.

  • TangoAlphaTangoAlpha Posts: 4,584

The price of my next Macbook went up by 25% in October. So . . . that's not happening.

(which puts my next novel on hold since I can't write on my work machine as that Carrara window is such a compelling distraction . . .)

...what gets me is this is older generation memory (only 1333MHz). Originally a 24 GB kit cost nearly 800$ when I first built my workstation several years ago, then the price began to fall and really plummeted after  DDR4 quad channel memory came out to where it was at 108$ for a full 24 GB kit.ony a couple weeks ago. Now it is 158$.

...and I also need an OEM of W7 pro which is another 140$.

The price of my i7/980Ti rig dropped by about £200 (~300US at the time) in the month after I bought it. But now it's well over £500 more (with the Pascal equivalent card). A lot of that is to do with the £-$ rate though.

I'm unstuck!  Yea! smiley  Neighbor dug me mostly out yesterday.  I was then able to get my car moved a bit, and get the ice scraped from the windows and get my trunk open.  Snow shovel is now more accessible. blush

Went uptown before the next storm hit, got my prescriptions and lunch and some groceries and got the car parked at home again before the snow started.  indecision

Can't you organise the favourites into category folders, like I have with my extraordinarily long list of bookmarks?

Yes, I could.  But it wasn't so much the organization as the size of the list that was causing problems.  Likewise, I could also reload my entire DAZ library and re-organize it the way it should be, but hot needles in my eyes sounds preferable. sad    What I did do for my "Favorites/Bookmark" list is copy it all to a separate folder then mind numbingly read through the entire list and select the few favorite links that I really use, and copy them back into the browser's "Favorites" folder.  The unused links are now relegated to archive status and when I have another lifetime I'll reorganize them.  (*sigh*)  In the meantime if I want to locate a link I can use the computer's search tool to look for keywords in the link name.  (or just re-google the Internet again) enlightened

PS: I hate reorganizing windows lists that I've reorganized many times before.  Shouldn't have to do that.  The computer should remember exactly how I had the favorites link organized and not put them into chronological or alphabetical order by default when moved.  Not so helpful.  crying

If you have the money, buy it.  When it is a certain distance from original release time, it starts to get harder to find...which starts putting the price up.

Morning. A mob of bright-winged parrots struggling and failing to make any headway against a stiff westerley breeze, isn't there some song about walking backwards for Christmas? Flying backwards? Maybe am still dreaming :)

Bookmarks seem to fall into the same liminal place as odd socks, or repeats of Dr Who episodes ?
