...more frozen water from the sky today. Started around 13:00 and will keep up all evening with about 5" expected. The good thing this time it is the dry powdery kind and will end after midnight when it is still cold so no freezing rain this time. Will post some pics when I get home.

Alas, despite only a few inches of snow, traffic ground to a halt.  it took me 6 hours and 20 minutes to drive home from work yesterday.  Left at 4PM, got home at 10:20PM.  Much of that commute was spent with the parking brake on.  I got out of the car and wandered around a bit too during the commute.

I think it was the second significant one in the local area, although honestly very little compared to "normal" winter in places that typically have winter all winter long.  Portland doesn't do very well with snow since we don't get much, but this was seriously out of hand.  I don't even know what the backup was, although I'm assuming people got stuck and thus all movement across the entire citywide grid virtually ceased as soon as every backup blocked every other entrance/exit.    There were cars seemingly abandoned everywhere, although luckily mostly on the shoulders (unsure if they were left there or moved there.)

...woke up this morning and the goruns as well as street was stil snow covered.  Barely got above freezing today and will pretty much be the same tomorrow.  Was supposd to snow over the weekned but now the forecast. calls for a chance of cold rain on both Saturday and Sunday.  Wouldn'e be surprised with how it has flip flopped so much that it won't go back to snow again tomorrow.

Was actually kind of nice yesterday, if you didn't have to drive take transit, or go anywhere.  Wandered around the neighbourhood and snappped a few pics before hading to one of my favourite pubs which had it's 20 year anneversary.

It's the oxygen.  One whiff and you're hooked forever.  Go without it for a couple minutes and you die.  Perfect drug.  Now, how do I corner the market? devil

Flying squirrels aren't marsupials, but there is the sugar glider, which is a marsupial. They resemble each other, but are unrelated.

For example, the sugar glider has a prehensile tail instead of a big fluffy one.

Misread that as cheese cake. I was wondering how a 10 yo cheesecake could still be good. Duh...

They're related to Fruitcakes.  But just the opposite.  Aging doesn't seem to affect a fruitcake's badness.

Depending how much rum/brandy/whiskey it has been fed

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2607642/make-and-mature-christmas-cake

    1. Remove the cake from the oven, poke holes in it with a skewer and spoon over 2 tbsp of your chosen alcohol. Leave the cake to cool completely in the tin.

    2. To store, peel off the baking parchment, then wrap well in cling film. Feed the cake with 1-2 tbsp alcohol every fortnight, until you ice it. Don’t feed the cake for the final week to give the surface a chance to dry before icing.
