Cheese it, it's the teach.
I pretty much put animation aside this year and focused on other things. Recently I realized the main reason I did this was, voices. I just wasn't satisfied with the available options. Today I did a status check on Voco, etc., and I thought I'd drop by and tell you what I found.
As for Voco, what I found was nothing at all. We are left to speculate about Adobe's plans and progress, although my guess is that rent will be involved. However, I ran across something called Lyrebird. It does pretty much what Voco does, but it's open source and needs a much shorter sample than Voco. Alas, it too is "in development." Google has something called DeepMind in the works. The press says it will be a Voco alternative, but their website blurbs didn't make any sense to me.
Sooner or later, one of these or one yet to come will be available to the common man. Until that happens, I may leave animation alone. I might try a few old fashioned still image cartoon strips in the meanwhile.
How about you? Would you animate more if quality voice files could be generated on the desktop? Affordably?

Strange...the existing thread seems to have disappeared overnight, and an irrelevant post has attached itself to the above. Never saw that before...
does anyone here actually make any money worth the trouble?
I don't
made me $2.86 last month just under 1K views that month over a million all up
Youtube didn't take the videos down, they just stop montization of them .. I mean the pulled ads from a demo on how to create a 3d dancing girl usinf star character with daz..lol . Just Stupid! I think they lost their minds
I made about $300 last year, but so far only $28 bucks .. I agree with Wendy its not worth the troube. jumping through their hoops anymore. Its my opinon its all being set up for paid for content now like redtube. etc.
I understood that your stuff was demonetized, Ivy. The action was less severe than removal, but the arbitrary mechanism behind either one seems to be the same.

I do see a force trying to turn YT into cable TV. Every dog has its day.

I notice the original thread still exists: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1917181/
What thread are you talking about?
Hi Chohole,
The original thread is here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1917181/
-- that's the thread I posted to two days ago (I found it didn't disappear after all). But my post didn't show up there. It showed up here instead. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2743241
FWIW, I have no problem with this.
Thanks.
Your links are both to posts in this thread. I am confused.
Me, I click on each link, I get different results on each link. Just for drill I deleted all my DAZ3D cookies, but still had the same result. Cleared the browser cache, same result. Got email notification that one of my posts had been removed, tested again, same result.
As I said, I'm not having any problem. I am happy with this thread.
Thanks.
People need to understand the only prolific youtubers actually
make any serious money.
That is people who upload new content DAILY ..repeat... DAILY!!!!
one person called "pewtie pie" has been reported in the news
media to have made several hundred thousand per year reviewing
video games etc.
You have to build a following with thousands of subsubscribers
and network with other professional "tubers" for cross promotional opportunities.
One has to make it a full time job if one seeks anything near a full time income.
you also need to have other venues that promote your youtube channel.
such as blog or website
Once you get large enough loyal following,
you can start a Patreon page or similar ,where your many"fans" pay a monthly fee to support you and keep your content coming.
It is hard work and not for the shy or for those averse
to communicating with strangers on a daily basis.
To be blunt,
the people who have been up ended by the recent YT
policy changes were not well schooled in self marketing and clearly were not
properly diversified in their promotional efforts or not prolific in thier content creation
to begin with.
Wait, Chohole. I've been suffering from Stage 4 PEBKAC. Forget everything I ever said please. It is too embarassing to explain.
Pewtie Pie has wrongly attributed one of my videos to someone else who uploaded a poor quality copy and has 10x my views
Hmm...Have people stolen your work before?
well not really stolen as its a video I put in creative commons but not acknowledged either and yes many variations of my stuff up there, I do not consider any of it that worthy to be honest, did put a heap in the creative commons.
considering its the most awful stuff on youtube blog I am not really going to make a fuss
Personally, I might think about a small watermark. Just to discourage this kind of thing.
new animation on my Art thread in the art forum
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/9050/art-animations-by-ivy-summers#latest
Thank you. A nice presentation. I can see an increase in sophistication in a couple of years.
At first I went to the beginning with all the pirates, and it reminded me that Talk Like a Pirate Day is only a month away. Argh!
Thanks , I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Anyway back on topic
I really wish Daz would ,at the very least
unvault the venerable stand alone mimic 3 pro
even as 32 bit only app it still is quite useful
for creating ,editing& refining lipsynch.
perhaps even give it away with one of those M4/V4 "clearances
It works quite well genesis 2 figures after you export them to poser cr2's
Here is the G2 male speaking one of my favorite peices of movie audio
Personally I find the existing DAZ Mimic implementation to be adequate, if not elegant. I accept that DAZ is not highly focused on animation. I have always liked Reallusion's handling of lipsync, ever since I discovered Crazytalk years ago, but I can't accept their never-ending "bump you up" way of doing business.
After I did this, I figured this lipsync was close enough, and other things became more important to me.
Well, the solar eclipse will be coming to town in a couple of hours, and I've got it on the brain now.
you can actually buy Mimic pro through another site I saw somewhere and it is from DAZ

I get a page not found
the thead must have been deleted
but if IRRC your in that thread link was to the mimic pro for Carrara owners
not the stand alone mimic 3 pro.
I found v2.5...

i've been recording one line dialogs,
but haven't settled on a de-noise software to remove ambient sounds.

mimic pro (32bit standalone) still available at toolfarm.com. buy it there, daz3d 'delivers' it. $49. it's legit, odd way to get it, but legit.
a bit dated, but pretty powerful capabilities. may take some tinkering to get g2,3 or 8 working. others may have tips. I animate g1 aand previous generations. gave up on character chasing. g1 plenty capable for me.
good luck!

I installed all new double pane windows. Then I put a 15lb. industrial sound barrier over the studio window. Lastly, I get up at 4AM to record sound. The ceiling fan, if it's on, is easy to get rid of in Audacity. In the winter I record in between furnace cycles. :-)
Good catch. https://www.toolfarm.com/buy/3d_mimic_pro
