Thank you!
Also? I've been merrily adding G3F Materials directory by directory, and now they all pop up as options for my G8F characters when I'm deciding on a skin. This is made of awesome.
Have you considered a product that would let you scan a third party directory and bulk assign metadata types and compatibility bases for Smart Content inclusion?
You're welcome!
I am not sure you what you mean. You should be able to do that with an Assembly Line. Add a Modify Categories action to the Make Presets Compatible for Figure assembly line.
Thank you, you mad scientist, wonderful wizard at making stuffs-man.
Grabbed this today. I'm broke(n) so that 10% pushed me over the top to get it. THANK YOU!! That banner is a genious idea.
Anyhow, I'd like to know if this can do anything by mixing poses across generations....
I have a genesis 2 pose top and I want to mix it with a Genesis 3 bottom and a genesis 1 hand position.....
WHY?
Some props come with hand position poses - that I'd like to migrate over to the new pose preset....
So I want to make a pure Genesis 3 pose and have it be made up of all the other pose parts......
2) I also want to make my own Pose Product called Bone doctor bits and bops....
which is a loose library of the snagged pose parts that I like....little scraps of poses pulled from across my pose library. Possible?
3) And I want to make my own pose PRODUCT (not to be sold, but shows up in Smart Content) which has all my merged, blended, whatever poses - like a single place to store all my Walking Poses, Leaping Poses, Facial expressions, Gun holding, sword holding.....
I know we got a lot of questions, but I'd like a simpler method of categorizing my pose library.
Thank you for the extra discount, it's very generous of you :)
Okay, first, I have to say, this looks uber cool! I'm sure I can use it. I'm just not sure right now how nor do I have time to figure it out. I'm swamped with projects so it will be a bit before I have a chance to sit down and figure out what the heck it does. That being said, I've loved your other pose scripts and have found them useful. I appreciate the extra discount for being a repeat customer. So, I bit the bullet and bought it even knowing it will be a few weeks before I have a chance to sit down and look at it. I'll play with it later when I have time, whenever that might be. I will be keeping an eye on the thread, though, to see what others are saying. Good luck with this because as I said, it looks super cool! :)
Okay, the simple fact that I was able to select the script file for Brow Remover, click the "Set Compatibility with Current Figure" assembly line, and bang Brow Remover shows up for G8F is just cool.
I know I'm babbling a bit about this product, but I already love being able to hit Materials in Smart Content and have the G3F materials show up automatically, and the same for scripts, and not to mention filling my pose library with the dozens of poses I'd accrued for G3F so bloody quickly...
Next, I need to save up for Pose Blender. I hadn't had the opportunity as yet, but now it's going to be just too useful.
Hm. It means stepping out of Riversoft's ecosystem briefly, but...
Take Zev0's Pose Builder (not Pose Builder 3) and schlorp the Genesis hand pose to Genesis 2. Save the Genesis 2 hand pose.
Apply the G2 hand pose and the G2 upper body pose to a G2 figure, and save that.
Take Pose Builder 3 or one of the other converter products from G2 to G3 and convert it to G3. Save the G3 pose.
Take Bone Doctor and apply the G3 upper body pose you made with the G3 lower body pose you already had. If you wish, apply that to G8 and adjust bones.
Use Assembly Line as needed to make sure the G3 pose is set to be compatible with G3 and any G8 pose is set to be compatible with G8.
Enjoy a delicious, well earned beverage.
I am having a bit of an issue. Poses converted from G3 to G8 always move the figure to the center of viewport even though the original G3 pose does not do that. I tried and converted the same G3 pose with Zev0 Pose converter and then the issue did not appear.
Another question: when choosing current figure in the G3 to G8 Pose converter script nothing happens when executing, the script just close down and the pose selected is not applied to the selected G8 character in viewport.
Thank you in advance
LOL. My new name!
Assembly Line cannot do conversions from Genesis or Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 unfortunately, even with Bone Doctor.
This is possible; there are already assembly lines for pulling out bottom half, top half, hands. Between generations is harder. Genesis and Genesis 2 have the same bone structure, except for the feet, so they could share bits and bops. Genesis 3 and 8 are the same so that is fine. Between Genesis/G2 and G3/G8 will not work without another product to do the conversions.
Assembly Line does not make products, though that is easy enough to do within Daz itself.
You're welcome!
Thank you for the faith and support. Whenever you are ready, I will be here to answer questions.
LOL. I know what you mean though. The first time I saw a G2F outfit appear in Smart Content for G8F, it felt magical. I had to veriy the G2F outfit could work with G8F and then use "Set Compatibility with Current Figure", but after that, I always knew this outfit worked with G8F (even if it goes through autofit every time). It is nice to have Daz Studio remember that outfit works and I don't have to anymore.
You could also use Pose Blender.
Hmm. That should not happen. Just to be obvious, you have Bone Doctor? (Assembly Line does not do conversions without it). If you do the conversion with Bone Doctor (outside of using Assembly Line), it does the same thing? Which pose product is this? I might have it and I want to try it myself.
Do you own Bone Doctor? When was the last time that Bone Doctor was updated? I updated all the other RiverSoftArt script products to support Assembly Line at the end of August. Is there anything in the log?
Thank you for your quick reply.
I bought Assembly line, Bone Doctor, Eye Clock, Pose randomizer 10 hours ago and have Pose Blender since before and all of them is installed (can there be an conflict becuse I have all of them installed at the same time?)
The poses is Capsces Cute and Flirty Bethany 7 but I tried a few more with the same result.
I im not sure if this way was the right way to try it with bone doctor but I added one of the Capsces Cute and Flirty Bethany 7 poses to G8 and then used Bone doctor convert pose G3-G8 and then it worked fine and did not move the character to the center of viewport.
While typing this and trying assembly line on a G8 Character I suddenly get a "Replace input Presets or add new presets to the file list" and the same poser present file remains every time I open the script even though I delete it inside the script. Reinstalling Assemby Line fixed that though but not the pose problems.
I did try to run just the second line in the script "002 Apply present" with a selected G8 character, G3 pose present file selected and current figure checked but without any success. The log says Executing line 002: Apply Preset... successful but nothing happens at all.
Thanks
Ok, I can confirm that I am an idiot Yes, there is a bug. Please try the attached file (copy over the one that came with Assembly Line). If you confirm the fix, I will submit to Daz.
To answer your other questions:
No, in fact all the products are designed to work together in Assembly Line so they need to be installed.
The ""Replace Input Presets or Add New Presets to file list?" message comes up when you start Assembly Line and it sees that you have something selected in the Content Library pane (even if it is not the active pane). This allows you to select a bunch of presets in the Content Library Pane and have them automatically added to the file list without you having to hunt down where they are on the file system. It works best if you make Assembly Line Editor a custom action. Then you can select the presets you want added in the Content Pane, start Assembly Line from the custom action in the Scripts Menu, and it will add them for you.
That worked great, now the character stays in the same place after the converted pose is applied.
The issue where apply a G3 pose directly to the G8 character still exist. Having current figure selected and the script does nothing at all. A temporary fix is to choose Present Series and when asked to choose directory just hit cancel as it will apply the pose to the selected character in viewport without saving the pose.
I am sorry, could you take me through what you are doing? Which assembly line are you using? You are trying to apply to figure or to list of presets?
This is such a great script for making G3 materials "compatible" with G8 alone.
Thanks Agent!
Using Assembly line convert pose rom G3 to G8 script with a G8 character selected in viewport, then loading a G3 pose and then selecting apply to current figure and then execute. I guess that it would apply the G3 pose to the selected G8 character in viewport but it does not do anything.
Ahh! Now I understand. This occurs with a bug in Stop If Partial Pose (which is looking for a preset and crashes in the Apply to figure case). If you delete that action, it should work. I plan to submit an update to Daz after the weekend that fixes all of the bugs that have been discovered on release (and then it will probably take a couple of weeks to wind its way through the system).
I gave it a try and it did just apply G3 standard pose instead of the selected pose (tried a few poses from a few different pose sets with the same result).
Since using "apply preset series" and then than canceling when asked to save works but apply to "current figure" does not (with or without the stop scrip) I guess the error would be in the apply to figure setting. I hope the info helps a bit with the bug hunting.
I think we have been miscommunicating. If you select "Apply to Current Figure", the file list is completely ignored. I thought you were applying the G3 pose in Daz, starting Assembly Line and then executing the Convert Assembly Line.
That explains it, sorry my misstake (embarrassed).
It would have been nice though if it worked in that way, since select poses between generation is a pain/impossible in smart library.
I will now go figure out the scripts and most certain end up here with a million question again (sorry for that in advance).
No problem at all. Now that I look at it, what to me seems obvious is not. I added to the tooltips for the Apply to Current Figure the statement "Note that the preset list below is ignored"
I noticed an issue with the updated script that you posted before, the G3 to G8 converted pose is missing rotation that the original pose has. For example one G3 pose had Y rotate 60 but when converted the rotation is missing. Does the new script I downloaded remove all direction and rotation movments intended for the pose when converted?
Thanks in advance.
By default, with the new script, it no longer saves the translation and rotation on the figure (hip is fine). I thought that was what you wanted. If you want to save the rotation/translation, double click the Save Pose Preset in the G3->G8 Assembly Line and select "Figure In Place"
Thanks I will try that.
Before the issue was that G3-G8pose converter script forced X,Y and Z translation 0.00 to every pose converted while the original pose did not. I would guess because the script added the translation to the converted pose based on where the character was placed in viewport and that is usually x,y and z 0.00 when converting poses. So with the old script even though the original pose was not made to change the position the character in viewport when applied since it was not affecting the translation of the character the converted pose did, as the converted pose always moved the character to the center of the viewport no mather where the character was placed.
