Hm. It seems like some of the Assemby Line presets don't... work on an existing figure and pose? I'm trying to do the 'move transformation to hip' on a selected figure/pose and it just complains that I need to select a figure and fails. And yet you need to have a figure selected to launch the assembly line? Very confusing.

Sorry you are having problems.  I am not sure what you are trying. The  Assembly Line fixes poses which have transformations on the Figure itself by moving the transformations to the hip.   Is that what you are trying to do?  You followed the directions in the PDF?

So will that fix the poses that always move the character they are applied to to (0, 0, 0)? And when one makes or open a pose while it give an open to save as following:

    With current pose (set(s) do

with each of V4|M4 to Genesis to G2F|M to G3F|M to G8F|M do

              a) Save current modified pose at current (x, y, z) location pose

              b) Save current modified pose at (0, 0, 0) location

    Thanks

I believe the assembly line you are looking for is the Create In-Situ Poses.  From the manual, "This Assembly Line creates copies of poses where the pose is loaded in-situ (in its current position) instead of moving the pose.  This assembly line addresses poses that like to move the figure from its current position when the pose is loaded."  I am not sure what you mean by " And when one makes or open a pose while it give an open to save as following"  However, you can set up an Assembly Line to save the current location pose or at 0,0,0.

I did not, 'cause I didn't see a PDF. I was looking at the instructions in the script window. And all I did was apply a pose that moved the character, then run the particular preset, which promptly failed. But I'll track down the PDF before being a pest.

Let me know if it helps!

I am struggling using this to create poses for G8F from G3F ones. I do own Bone Doctor and have it installed.

    1. I open studio and add G8F
    2. I open Assembly line and run the preset to convert poses from G3F to G8F
    3. I add a directory of poses I want. There are many poses in the window now, 41 in my test.  All of them are checked.
    4. I tried this first with "Checked" selected, then with "Selected", that with "All" in the dropdown menu.  Made no difference in what comes next
    5. I execute it (not execute one line, in case you wonder).
    6. It never asks for an output directory.
    7. It produces a popup that says "Execution completed succcesfully in XX seconds on 1 pose".  Not 41 poses, 1 pose.
    8. Genesis 8 is standing in a pose where her legs are further apart and her arms are straight down.
    9. There is no converted pose anywhere that I can find. I reloaded all my pose files, I looked in G8F and G3F pose files.

There are no subdirectories for the folder I'm trying to convert but I've gone ahead and tried this WITH a base folder set and WITHOUT a base folder set, same result.

    What is going wrong here?

EDIT:  Uh oh, hold on. I added G8F to try to covert G3F poses.... ooops.  Let's try that again...  Nope, same result. This time G3F is stading with her arms up at an angle and her ankles tightly together but still completes "successfully" after 1 pose with nothing saved.

Have you selected "Preset Series" in the Apply groupbox of the Input tab?

Ah, thanks for the screen shot.  You are running on the current figure.  You need to select Preset Series.

  • grinch2901grinch2901 Posts: 1,246

Ah hah! I had no idea what that option did but I always assumed since this was operating on a selected figure in the scene that "current figure" was what was needed.  Seems to be working now. Thanks!

No problem!  "Apply to Current Figure" means just execute once the assembly line on the current figure in the scene.  "Apply to Preset Series" means execute the assembly line on series of figures created by applying the presets.

Bought this today still figuring it out, finally figured out how to transfer the morphs from G3F to G8F, it kept failing till I changed it to continue on error instead of stopping on error so hopefully that will turn out good, need to read more of the manual to hopefully figure out more of the settings and how to split up the poses, i honestly didn’t realize this existed until I seen it in the description for Look at Me so went to check it out so once it went on sale with the mermaid stuff I added it to the cart and seen some other things I want from your store lol

Thank you VERY MUCH for your support.  smiley  Are you running this on non-categorized items?  The Copy Categories to File action can fail in that case.  What does the log say (on the Log tab)?

I’m  doing my entire g2f pose folder, it just said failed to copy and it was cancelled, but after switching it to continue it’s still going, it get the error opening files message to and have to press enter but it’s doing its thing still :)

The Assembly Line only supports right now from G3F to G8F... not G2F to something.

My bad doing g3f to g8f, although my g2f poses I did covert to g3f with ZeV0 and draagonstorms script so we’ll see how well those moves

Hey I know this is an old thread but I just started using this product doing my saves for my next pose product and OH MY GOODNESS it is such a time saver! I mean, SUCH a time saver.  Instead of having to spend all my time selecting body parts I can spend my time making poses. Awesome product.

Thank you!  I appreciate the kind words. smiley  I consider Assembly Line Pose Control one of those hidden gems.

BTW, I haven't submitted it yet, but there is an enhancement to the Assembly Line Save Pose Preset.  I added a Daz recommended setting.

Hi, I'm trying to create poses for figure type. I have poses for Genesis 8 Female and want them on the Genesis 8 Male.

    1. I load the Genesis 8 Male and select it.

    2. I load the Figure Type script (which loads the size of my screen and will not let me resize).

    3. I add the pose files from the Genesis 8 Female.

    4. I have Use Base Directory checked and Set the Base Directory to the folder in which I have the Female poses. (Is this right?)

    5. I use the Execute button and direct it to the empty folder for the new Male poses.

It says it executed with errors and when I check the new folder, there is only one pose in it, the figure in default I previously loaded.

I tried it with execute 1 line. Same result.

Can you please explain what I am doing wrong?

  • Cris PalominoCris Palomino Posts: 11,385

I found out what I was doing wrong. The PDF, unless I just totally missed it, told me to load the figure and select it. However, the instructions in the script itself say select a posed figure. The problem is I'm old and the text on the script is really tiny. I copied it to a text editor and that is when I discovered the difference in instructions.

    It worked now, thank you.

I am glad you got it working though I am a little confused.  They both talk about the "currently selected figure" and selecting the figure before starting the assembly line.  I think what might have changed is that you Applied to the Preset Series this time and not Applied to the Current Figure.

The difference was in the pdf may say currently selected figure, but only the script window shows "posed figure". So it wasn't clear to me. Once posed, it worked beautifully. It's just hard for me to read the tiny text on the script window. I had to copy it to a text editor and enlarge.

oh, are you talking about the hint for Preset Series?

Sorry about the tiny text.  I believe it should be taking whatever Daz and Windows are doing.

Hello...I know this thread hasn't been active in awhile but I had a question. I'm just starting to use the product but I think it may have a bug, or its something in my install. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that hasn't helped. I am trying to create hand poses from 2 G8 poses I created. When I do, it seems to error on the right hand. It creates the left hand OK, sometimes for both poses I selected for the presets, but it never creates the right hand. I am adding the G8 figure, and then using "presets", adding the 2 poses I want and then hitting execute. It always loads whatever script I'm using into the presets area before I add my own and I assume that's correct? Does it have to be there so it knows which script to use? It seems to save the poses PLUS a copy of the script, which I just have to throw away.

It asks me for the output directory since I am not using the base directory feature, and I tell it where to go. This sometimes works ok (but not for the right hand as stated). But now it seems to create 2 instances of the dialog. It completes the left hand and seems to open another dialog right on top of the other for the right hand. If I execute that one or close it, it does random things. This time it did seem to save the right hand pose, but it names it weird things ...IE ..it names it the name of the script. Also...it stuck it wayyy out in its own directory and created a whole structure based on Tom?

I don't suppose you could upload a video of your exact steps?  I found your description a little confusing.  Did you install from cloud or DIM or manual?  (DIM or manual is better)  Are you starting the script from Content Library?  Which assembly line are you using or are you making your own?  Can you post the assembly line if you made one of your own?

  • ZaiZai Posts: 289

Hey there! Thanks for checking in on this :)

I installed from the DIM...and also uninstalled and re-installed. I checked and saw that I might have needed an update for Daz itself since I wasn't on 4.11. I updated that, but it still did the same. I am starting from the Content library using the Make Hand Poses script, which I am not altering in any way.

I will try to make a video of the process today and see if I can get it uploaded for you. Thanks so much!

Just a quick note to say Riversoft is an excellent vendor with stellar support. It was mostly user error on my end and he took the time to watch my video and gave me the answers/help that solved the problem on the first try, overnight.  Outstanding :)

In your clothing converters, there are options such as ignoring if a G8 version already exists (i.e. a products comes with both G3/G8)  I do not see this as an option to select when converting G3 to G8.  Am I wrong that I will need to go through and compare my directories ahead of time to avoid duplicates?

    Thanks!

Next question.  I seem to be running into a similar situation as posted by Cris.  I follow the pdf instructions:

    To use this assembly line,
 Add a Genesis 8 figure to your scene.  (G8F base figure - check)
 Select the figure and start the Assembly Line Preset  (Check)

(This window pops up - I have tried Add and Ignore; didn't touch replace for fear of messing something up.)
 Add Files or Add Directory in the Input tab to add the input poses you want to convert. (I selected the entire Genesis 3 Female/Poses/ - it took a long time for even 1%, so am now experimenting with a single subdirectory)
 Check the "Use Base Directory" checkbox and use the "Set Base Directory for Poses..." button  to define a base directory if you want to preserve the directory structure of the input poses with your new poses. (Check - I have a Converted folder that contains the standard build of folders, as suggested in either the clothing or hair converters; can't remember which)

 Execute the script (Check.  The script begins, it asks for a directory location and I again give it the converted folder location.  It runs, completes. Done with errors.  When I look in the converted folder - it is empty.)

Pointers to where I am going wrong?  Yes, I own Bone Doctor.

Also, the Tip instructions located at the top of the editor

Hmmm, guess that screensnip isn't worth much.  Says:

    1. Select a posed character or figure.  (If i am converting a directory(ies) from G3 to G8, I am supposed to apply a pose, other than the loaded stance?)

I just discovered, that the poses were created in the "true" Genesis 8 Female/Poses folder.  I must be misunderstanding about saving the end results.  Does this script not allow us to determine the directory for the converted poses?  I'll admit that your clothing converters were the first I used, so my entire experiences are based on those.

Select ignore.  That is the safest.  That option is for if you want to add the Assembly line as a custom action, then you could select presets directly from Content Library and have it add them when it is started through the custom action.

Your base directory is wrong.  If you hover over the "Set Base Directory for Poses" button, it states that the Base directory should be set based on INPUT files.  In the case of your screenshot, your base directory should be set to E:/Daz 3D Content/People/Genesis 3 Female/Poses.

If that doesn't work, please post your log.
