Get better soonest!!!
Hola!
waz a Big Bang Theory Season iv marathon weekend. 2 disks in finally recognized Amy as the actress who played Blossom.
Mayim Bialik is apparently not only a talented actress but academically brilliant as well. Read about her at this link:

...sunny and heading for the mid 60s today here (finally). Will stay nice with highs near 70° and warmer.
...nice if not summery in Zagreb too with highs reaching 80°
Technically there one place exactly like home. You live there.
(Tjohn looks around for jinx and whispers) My head is much less hurty nao.
...still a bit sniffly, but otherwise much better than last week.
Workstation is all fine again, weather has taken a turn for the better, filed my weekly work search report, and have three new jobs to look into/apply for already. Good time for a shopping trip as the pantry and fridge need a bit of restocking.
85F here, sunny, breezy. Went out for fried catfish as a Monday treat! :)
Rain tomorrow, then rain Wednesday, then rain Thursday, and likely Friday. :blank: Blug blug!
Doc appt Wednesday, more X-Rays. My foot will glow in the dark. :blank:
Haven't done a render in ages, sigh. Been writing and dinking around with weird music instead. I should fire up Poser this weekend and see if it's real-world usable on a 15.6in monitor. :-S
To buy before end of year: quad-core lappy with 17in monitor. :blank:
Doesn't sound half bad. Best of luck with the job search! :cheese:
Morning. Haz sunny day and blue sky again, a little chilly just after dawn but warming up yay :)
Looking forward to weird music. Listening forward?
napping on and off all day today.
if i call a taxi in the morning to take me to the bus stop, i won't dread morning so much.
:) fantasyland tropes - feeling of dread, reek of wrongness
Is that with a 3D app, or something like Photoshop? Looks good.
Dana
I have to learn about UV mapping, eventually.

Not much to actually 'learn' but lots of minute details to fuss about so the tedium is extraordinary - start with something store bought, perhaps one of JTs model buildings, look at the texture maps and work your way in from there :)
JT?
What do you use? I plan on probably using UV-Mapper, the free version. I'm pretty sure there is UV-mapping in Hexagon, but I've heard that UV-Mapper is better to work with.
First I have to learn the modeling part. I have a start, but I've been away from it for several weeks, or maybe it is months. Anyway, I've already forgotten some of it.

UVs are a two dimensional co-ordinate map of vertex positions (points) on the surface (topology) of a 3D model. For example UV Mapper "reads" vertex positions on a 3D model and calculates their relative positions on a 2D graph, kinda as if you ran over something with a steamroller. Another good standalone UV Mapper is called Roadkill heh. The math used to calculate, or 'project' a 3D co-ordinate onto a 2D plane relative to other co-ordinates isn't complex but isn't a general solution either, so there are quite a few implementations of it. There are no 'best', just different solutions that work on different 3D surfaces (topologies). The best way to start is to skip the calculation part and retexture something that already has the UV co-ordinates mapped, like the $2 models of buildings Daz sells, for example. Look at the texture maps provided with the model, and modify those a bit. You will ease into the workflow quite simply, and start to get a feel for how different 3D shapes (topologies) are managed for texture mapping. it will help a lot when you start to grapple with generating new UV co-ordinate sets yourself, a task fraught with frustration and angst :)
eta oh ps I make UV's as I model, Lightwave, Blender, Max etc, and Roadkill and UVMapper as well if a topology is recalcitrant
Thanks, Ps1Borg. I guess I'll look into it more when I'm ready. I do seem to remember there is more than one kind of UV map. I thought I remembered something about a circular map rather than a flat map. I really don't know if I'm way off on this, but it's something that sticks out in my mind. I have a tutorial on UV-mapping from Jack Tomalin that I got at his website. I remember seeing all the "checkered" patterns with colors and numbers in them. I also remember thinking that it was scary, and didn't read it yet. :red:

Here's a minor complaint. I say minor because in comparison to the real complaints (Medical, job, etc) that have been going around this is pretty pointless ^_^
Well okay first I have a larger complaint. Is technically a friend's complaint, but it got me pretty angry myself so... yeah.
Her co-workers are running around spreading rumors that she's uh... How to say it... Well spreading very nasty rumors about her merely because of her medical conditions and the fact she's female but prefers to draw/paint aliens and dragons instead of "girl things" (Whatever that means =B )

I hardly have any of these sorts of problems, and the only doctor person that had the nerve to be a total ass to patients around here got the boot because of that, so I guess it's a "Big City" sort of thing where such folks can do whatever they want whenever they want? *shrugs*
Anyhoo. So my tiny complaint is this:
I was playing on a Large map in CivIV and it got to the point where not only the tech rate was odd (2070AD and the other AI still have Rifles and I don't have Flight yet!?) but the AI had so many units it lagged the game in between turns xD
So rather than gun for a Domination victory I went for Space Race, since I was already so far ahead in that regard.
I had 2 SS-Casing items completed, and was so eager to finally end this nearly 700 turn long game that I launched it prematurely.
(See picture 1)
And yeah that was my capitol. ><</p>
While I was twiddling my thumbs waiting for the SS to win the game, Caesar went and declared war out of the blue on Catherine. I still had Open Borders with her, so I amused myself by gifting Tactical Nukes to both sides while I waited for the game to end. (See Picture 2)
The "You brought in a war ally" hit came after two nuke strikes from Catherine - Caesar asked me to declare on her and so I did. The rest of my tactical icbm's went to Caesar (Who made peace with Catherine a few turns after he asked me to join in XD)
While I tore Russia apart with tankes, Stealth Bombers, and artillery, a random event caused Caesar to declare war on her again (Some religious wedding event. She picked Option 3 which automatically started a war :) ) and I gifted him modern units he didn't even have the techs to make to speed things along.
So what about the complaint? Well, the Spaceship crashed. I only built two casing units and apparently it didn't survive the trip. So I have to build aaaaalll those pieces again! XD
Serves me right for being impatient I guess =B
Sucks hey. Sounds like more of a playground type issue, some ppl stay stuck in kindergarden mode
Looking forward to weird music. Listening forward?
Heh! Been spending 2/3 of my time writing and 1/3 on music, so no renders.
I did fire both Poser and DS 4.5 up last night, neither is exactly productive on a 15.6 in monitor but both are somewhat usable. Urgh, eye strain though.
That's one nice thing about the ValuePlace Inn.. it's all of a $9 cab ride to get there. :) Been cabbing in mornings, save wear and tear on the busted foot and it's making a positive difference in how fast it heals.

I cab everywhere I can't walk to, never had to drive or much use for a car :)
