Very nice render, although I really prefer the first one.

Shading and lighting are exceptionally good.

Are the meshes your own creation ?

Sorry I've been away for a few days. Dartanbeck, Garstin and I, had a meet up in Madison this weekend to geek out on all things Carrara. It was great and had super time!

bigh, those are really nice renders!

Stu, you have a knack for these characters that blows me! I'd love to pick your brain in person some time!

This is a render that I am working to get a certain photorealistic feel. I am working with lights and indirect lighting.

Some very nice renders. Esp like the scarecrow.

So ... should have been working on TZ projects, but was in the mood to try out PhilW's Protrait Studio. VERY nice setup. Some learning curve but then fun to use.

Tried a couple of different things that I'll go ahead and post. I learned enough while doing these that I'd make improvements if I were to redo them.

And then too ... what Dark Lord wouldn't like to get a whimsical card from one of his evil minions?

    Spaceland,

    I'm liking the perspective
as well as the shadowing. Depending on the mood you are trying to create, the tone and color may be spot on.

For it certainly invokes an emotional response from me. As all good art work should.

How about placing the image in photoshop or gimp.
duplicating the layer, and setting the top layer to overlay, screen, lighten or something else. Just might make it pop and a little more dynamic.

I will try to lighten the mood in the render first, after that will do post work on in if need be :-)

    thank you for your input.

PS: yes the mood is about what I am looking for. It will be the size of 1920x1080for wall paper.

    "Winter Retreat"
    HDRI Background and lighting
Post work to make Tori a little bluer from the cold, add depth, as well as composite several renderings.

I'm happy with the visible breath from the horse, however, I couldn't get a good breath from Tori. I tried using Ron's fog, Ron's Steam and smoke. Nothing quite worked, so I guess I caught her on an inhale.

    DAZ Horse 2
    Ceremonial Horse Armor
    Ron's Steam and Smoke
    Millennium Dragon LE
    Alruna
    Hampton Hair
    Tori for V5

    Critiques always welcomed.

Beautiful! Interesting composition. effective use of depth of field brings the eye to her face. Maybe there's no way to show her breath unless her face is turned in profile? Might also be an interesting picture to lower the camera to look up at her? Maybe then it might look OK to use Ron's fog etc to show her breath.

Low contrast pictures can be challenging ... a nice example of how it can be done. The tree branches also serve as leading lines to focus attention to her face.

edit- thought about it some more .... if the camera were lower, you'd look up through the horse's breath and you'd get an interesting effect without having to show her breath

    Great work.

Regarding the breath, personally, I would use a scaled down volumetric cloud.

Sure, she's available - at the DAZ store ;-)
But as you (all) know: All the Vickies, Michaels, Dawn etc are way away from the real. Real people are much more interesting.

Too bad, yes I know real people are more interesting, up to a point. :)

Very nice job you did, nice park too.

Cool! Where did you get the model of Split Rock Lighthouse? It's on Lake Superior's north shore in Minnesota, and is perhaps one of the most photographed light houses in the world, due to it's dramatic position on a high, sheer, cliff.

GrokDD, that snow scene is pretty fantastic, good work.

Stezza, that lighthouse scene is WOW! Really excellent render there.
