Hmmm...no way to make that sound like a "whoopie" moment.
    Yay...

I did find out my weight has gone down to 201 lubs over the last 9 moes.

Copngras on the weight loss! I need to get down to 200lbs myself.. (red face)

Two years ago I was 212. Now I'm hovering between 179 and 181. Just a slight change in diet. Not a hell of a lot of exercise. I should do something. I'd probably drop pounds like dropping a bag of potatoes.

Metaphorically speaking, that's how I lost weight. I stopped eating potatoes. (Except for the occasional chip or fry. Sometimes my poor diabetic brain cries for carbs)

I've been trying to cut back on a lot of things.. potatoes, bread, beer.. (sad face) Now that I can walk again the weight is slowly coming off, but for 4 months I was effectively unable to walk more than a block at a time. (feh face)

    What a bother!

When I was young I used to walk everywhere. We had no car. Welfare doesn't exactly pay enough to get a car. My mom did her best to feed us, but a car was out of the question. As a result, I always had very strong legs. Walking 2 miles with bags of groceries in both arms, in all kinds of weather will do that, plus walking to school every day. It was only uphill one way, though. I can remember grabbing onto a chain link fence on my street to be able to pull myself up the hill...the sidewalk was covered with ice. That was fun. It was a fun hill to ride my bike down in the summer, though.

I have some real life to tend to. Shopping trip to BJ's wholesale club with Diane.

I love walking and hiking - we have a ton of trails here bus-accessible. Once I have better shoes I'm going to start hiking again, I'll post pics of the places I go.

Have fun shopping, if possible! Nap time here.. argh..

...interesting to see that the latest sale banner has a pic of the "Tsar Bomba" test in the background.

This was the largest thermonuclear detonation ever, 57 Megatons which was dropped form a TU95 bomber over a test range on the Barents Sea island of Novaya Zemlya. The fireball was 8km in diameter, heat sufficient to cause third degree burns reached 100km from the test site, with the bright flash and heat pulse noticeable as far away as 270KM (the distance between Portland OR and Seattle) and the resulting shockwave shattered windows as far away as Finland and Norway, a distance of nearly 2,000 km (roughly the distance from Greece to the UK).

Do you remember back before the Apocalypse when we had smileys that worked? Boy, I sure do. Now we have to hand-carve them out of stone.
I miss the old days. Things were better then. Back when we had rocket cars and transportation booths. Gee, that sure was swell. Now we have to spend most of our time killing zombies; no one has time to travel anymore, even if we had the means. Excuse me a minute. (picks up crossbow and kills attacking zombie)
Sorry about that. Now where was I? Oh yes...to summarize: past - good. Zombie Apocalypse - bad.

We used to hike a lot when we went on vacation to New Hampshire. Recently not so much...virtually no cartilage remains in my left knee, so it gets kind of painful. I still do sometimes, but not the really long hikes we used to do. Once we hiked up Cannon Mt. We took the tram back down, though. Down is always worse on the knees. I got some nice scenic images though with my Canon A1's, and later with my Hasselblad.

I actually like shopping, most of the time. After a while it starts to hurt, though. We stocked up on a lot of things.

I woke up in dead of night to two reasons:
    1) Need to hop to the bathroom
    2) and my dream was interrupted by my subconsciousness going "Lady, you're MESSED UP. I refuse to continue seeing this dream, so waking up right NOW."

It seems that for whatever reason, my anxiety has flared up and it is weaseling its way to my dreams. Ugh. At least I haven't hit the dreamscape of Endless Corridors, Hallways, Staircases and Doors yet; that's weapons grade anxiety setup...

    I can have some doozies!

There one that recurs every now and then. I'm somewhere outdoors with friends or family, and suddenly I say, "Oh, no!" and then a nuclear blast happens, I feel the heat..then wake up.

Yep, that's what I do there. Run away -- through the hallways, rooms, corridors, up and down the staircases, open and close doors and try to keep ahead of what's chasing me. It is often some sort of undead, but a fairly fast one at that.

Sometimes I have a nightmare when I'm being chased by someone/something...and I just can't run, it seems I'm moving in slow motion, my legs feel heavy and unresponsive. I hate that.

    ...Monday shopping trip complaints.

First, the prejudice against singles. Why is it everything in ths country has to be the "Family" size of whatever which per unit, costs less than the smaller quantity?

Had to replenish the flat's supply of bog rolls today. Of the "house brand" (the least expensive) the only choices I had were a 4 pack of small single ply rolls (which would be gone in a few days meaning an extra trip before the week was over) or the "family pack" 6 - 12 roll quantity of the two ply double size rolls that I knew would not fit in my bicycle's side bags.. Oh there were a few 4 packs of the bigger thicker rolls, but only by the "name brand" companies which cost twice as much as the six roll house brand one. Now I'm not about to pay bleedn' nearly 6$ for something that gets flushed down the loo. So I settle on the 6 pack which I knew was going to be a challenge to get home with considering I had other groceries as well. Sure enough, on the ride home, the oversized package managed to squeeze it's way out of the side bag and onto the road twice, forcing me to turn back to retrieve it before it was run over by a car.

This whole "pay more for less" marketing mentality really bugs me, and goes beyond just the supermart.

Take for example, travelling. If you have two people sharing a hotel room or cabin (on a ship or train) it is always less than the single supplement. Those low cost holiday deals one sees in the paper or on the web are a sham for us singles as once you read the fine print, that price is based on PPDO (Per Person Double Occupancy). I'm not married, I do not have an SO (or for that fact an ISO). When I go on holiday I want to relax and have no unwanted drama, so I'm bloody well not going to shack up with some unknown stranger.

Yet in order to have my own space, I have to pay between 35% to 50% more, unless I want to stay in some cockroach infested flophouse in an area of town one has to keep looking over one's shoulder once you step out the door. or if travelling by train, ride in the day carriage and attempt to get a night's sleep in a sitting upright seat (instead of laying down in a bed) with some stranger (who is usually snoring louder than the locomotives pulling our train) sitting next to me.

    Next: Traffic.

I feel I am living under a curse in this respect for I seem to find myself menaced by that contraption known as the automobile almost everywhere I go. For example I can be walking along the pavement (sidewalk), and once I get to the mid point of a driveway there is a car, with it's driver glaring at me, insistent about getting into the carpark or residential drive, even though I'm squarely in their path (and often their directional signal is apparently "malfunctioning" to let me know they were turning in the first plae).

The same occurs at intersections, once I get into the crosswalk there always has to be a car making a turn right at that precise moment (one again rarely with the directional signal working properly). Other times I can be walking down a street and there is nary a car in sight (save for those which are parked), but, once I am ready to step off the curb at the crosswalk, I end up waiting for what amounts to a bloody Macy's Holiday parade.

I'm almost to the point of searching for a local Houngan to help me lift this curse for it has become an awful bother.

For the former, it is just accepted that there is value in bulk. Perhaps it is partly because the machine that wraps the items only has to run once for the six rolls, but twice for two four roll packages, and once for every singly packaged item. Same for the difference in price between a single roll and a double roll. The machine that rolls it needs to be interrupted less often for the double rolls. Beyond cost of materials and energy, I don't know why bulk would be more cost efficient per unit...but it seems to always have been that way for as long as I can remember.

For the latter, it seems you just have a strong bond with Murphy's Law! And the add-ons. I share that bond with you.
