Get a What-A-Chicken sandwich and a Whatacatch fish sandwich. Remove the goodies from the fish sandwich and put it in top of the chicken filet. It becomes the WHATACHICKENFISH SANDWICH! :ahhh: :ahhh:

Dug out my old 750GB USB drive, it's slow but reliable - going to back everything up tonight since things are at a good save point. While it cranks, going to watch BIZARRE FOODS AMERICA! :bug: Then bedtime, I need to be in the office by 7:30AM tomorrow to set the manufacturing folks up.

I hate it when they actually make me earn my pay! :snake:

Yeah, what is it with companies anyway? Not only do they expect you to show up for work, they expect you to do stuff while you're there. :-/

Bugs the heck out of me. They should be grateful I show up to bail them out of trouble, then they expect me to KEEP DOING IT! The nerve! Remind me to NEVER let on I know what I'm doing!!! >:-(

Glad I get paid by the hour! All extra will go into the "Portland Raid" fund!

...well there used to be one in the Lloyd district (near the convention centre and the oldest shopping centre in the city) but no more. Most in town are sponsored by a particular pub/restaurant and held on their premises. The only "neutral" site (and closest to the "real thing") is in Mt Angel which unfortunately is not accessible by transit, however the "Barfly Bus" will be providing service for pretty much the full day for 25$ which includes admission to the Biergarten on Saturday. 'I'll check around for other options as well.

There's another one at Oaks Park which is an old time amusement park in the city limits, but no where near as "authentic" as the one in Mt Angel.

Unfortunately you will miss the biggest "bierfes" (that is close to a "real" Oktoberfest) in the nation: The Oregon Brewers Festival that starts next week Wednesday and goes through the following Sunday (expanded to 5 days this year) which is held on the Waterfront just off Downtown. Brews from all over the region as well as country. Admission is 7$ (which also give you the mug). you then purchase tokens at 1$ each 4 which give you a full mug. There's also food and music as well and the largest collections of Porta Loos west of the Mississippi. In all there will be 84 brewers represented offering a wide array of styles ranging from crisp Kölsches and Pilsners to heady high octane Barleywines.

...and just last weekend was the Portland International Beerfest. that ran three days from last Friday to Sunday. That one had a set admission which included the glass and 10 tokens for 25$. (for an extra 10$ [35$] you could get 30 tokens but this was only an online deal). Unlike the OBP, the cost of beers there was based more on style and quality ranging from one to seven tokens (7$) for a full glass. This festival however includes a number of imports (not Corona, St Pauli Girl, or Heineken) that you rarely find on draught except in the most exclusive pubs.

    afternoon TEA time

rummage in the fridge - lessee.
fresh mozzarella cheese, tomato, black olive, stir in a bit of olive oil. says extra virgin.

i thought virgin was a boolean option, seems to be degrees of extra? mebbe it's diluted with something non-olive

    Virgin = untouched
Extra virgin = doesn't even know what touching is
Extra extra virgin = never seen another one of its kind, ever

The more extra virgin the less chemically refined it is ;)

The meaning depends on where it's from: in IOC countries, extra virgin means virgin (physically extracted only) with lower acid than is required for virgin, but both are extracted the same (non-chemically refined) way. In the US, it used to be unregulated (IOW pure marketing), now there are some requirements on what you can call virgin or extra virgin.

WOOLY LOACH INVADES PORTLAND!!! :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh:

BEER RESERVES DRAINED!!! :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh:

    Film at 11! :-P %-P :P
,... CNN: Dateline: Portland OR: October 2013.

Beer reserves in the entire city were drained over the last six days as a duo known only as the Wooly Loach and Kyoto Kid descended not only on the pubs in the city, but in one day, drank the entire Mount Angel Oktoberfest totally out of beer forcing shutdown of the annual celebrated event one day early While the duo's whereabouts are still unknown, many of the publicans in the city are praising the near record profits from the six day binge. Even organisers of the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest were pleased as they made more in just that one day than they ever did for the full run of the event ever since it began back in 1988. When interviewed, the event's coordinator mentioned that this would be the "banner year" for the charities that benefit from the event and welcomed the duo back for next year's celebration promising even a larger supply of beer.

Surprisingly, the two were said to be most cordial and accommodating never once creating an unpleasant scene or offending other patrons. Barkeeps and staffs were also quite pleased at the generous gratuities they received from whom they referred to as the "Pint Pounding Pair"

On the downside of course, local Portland craft breweries and brewpubs are now scrambling to replenish the supply of frothy malt and hops beverage which they said should be ready in two to three months. Meanwhile, thirsty patrons await a massive airlift campaign of fine handcrafted brews from other parts of the nation to see them through the drought. Already breweries in Michigan, Wisconsin Texas California, Washington, and Colorado have upped production to export to the suds beleaguered city.

Stay tuned to CNN for the latest updates on "Crisis in Beervana".

    Complaint Time:

If tomorrow (which is still today and not yesterday as I've not slept yet) is anything close to yesterday (today really so far) I'm sure I'll kill something.
In my shape catching that something will also be a pain, because I so need to do the killing with my bare hands.

Umm.. Never Mind even I can not follow the thought this started as....

Dude we got them reindeers eating the whole Lapland bare, it is economically and ecologically sound decision to eat 'em up first.

If it makes you feel any better, I can pretty much abso-freakin'-lutely guarantee that the reindeer I'm eating wasn't named "Rudolph".

Sigh.. I miss all the fun! Well, know I know and I can save up for next year!

$25 or the bus is fine, if I get there & we decide to go I'll cover it.

There are a few Oktoberfest parties here but most are in New Braufels, nowhere near transit acessable. Le sigh.
