lol for kicks, I decided to re-render my main promo on a human. Its not equally done, as I spent a ridiculous amount of time on that main promo. So there are subtle differences here, but I got it as close as I could for the amount of time I wanted to spend.

So, does it really make that much of a difference? I dunno that it would be such, that it would affect a purchase (but people shop for different reasons, I guess) I personally still favor the mummy, but that's just me.

    HOT!

To me it makes a difference. I rarely use undead, but your new render... Looks hot if I do say so my self. Great job, and great sense of emotion and movement. For me- That's a definite improvement. =-)

Ty :) And well, I know its on a mummy and all... but Im not selling the mummy, I'm selling the clothing lol

But ok so here's the deal. I like experimenting.... so Ive shot an email asking to make this my main instead, and moved the mummy to a secondary promo location. I have a release coming soon, and if DAZ runs my store on sale, it will bring focus to it.... so we will see if it makes any difference. I have my doubts, but keeping an open mind.

Well, I suspect the people who really wanted it, bought it already. But this may nudge some Poser users over future beefcake possibilities. Mummys aren't sexy.

I eventually bought it, but what slowed me down was the fact that it was for gen4. I've still got M4, and plenty of content for him. I could use him if I really needed to and there was no other work-around. But I've used nothing but Genesis for the past year and a half, and wouldn't much like having to back track.

Now THAT will be a very interesting test, indeed! :-) THAT looks nice, Ignus! When you go on sale, I'll definitely buy it. :)

As for you, Sickle, I can SEE why. Everything you have is either practical and everyday, or has an interesting style and execution that definitely has me drooling over them:

I think your render is awesome. And you have the talent for making very nice promo renders. So many could learn from you, the lighting and action in that scene are eye-popping.

Maybe a 'hot god' bundle with your Godspeed and Scorpian God sold together might sell. IDK. I'm not a marketing guru or anything, but, well, If I were buying godspeed and there was a bundle of these two bad boys together, it might just consider the plunge. =-)

Anyway, good luck with your sale. =-)

Well ty hun :) I know art can come down to opinion and things. So its entirely possible the mummy did turn some off. I did run a poll on my fb, and most ppl said they liked the Mummy better. But we'll see what the swap of promos does. As always, the best determination comes from actual sales more than anything. Talk is cheap, as they say lol

As for the bundle... I will consider it. But since I did bundles of these items already, Im a little concerned that it wouldnt be fruitful enough of a venture (esp considering the numbers Godspeed has done thus far) Perhaps its something to consider if/when I get something else male done. We'll see.

    And thanks for the GL!

PS: Heres the fb results, if anyone is interested

Ignis, I'd go onto team "would've sold more with a human male" with that. It's a fantastic outfit but customers buy on their knee-jerk response to the promos. They really, really do.

    God knows I do. :3

Ignus, you should totally go for it. "The Triple God/Goddess Bundle! Need something erotic? Exotic? A little psychotic? Well, each item in this trinity is three! Bring the divinity of history into your renders from the ancient cultures of Greece, Egypt and (third culture) now all together in this epic collection!" :cheese:

Again, we still face the dilemma that G2M is overdue, and I'm not sure about the male supporting vendors (Character OR clothing wise) But I'm holding off creating clothing because G2M could be days away for if I know... but then he could be 6 months away too, so its a gamble. What I'm saying is, it wouldn't surprise me if ideas/designs/concepts are being held back by individual vendors on the basis that the next figure has a "???" date of release. Maybe they already have him as an official Daz PA and are creating for him as we speak, or they don't and haven't a clue when to expect it.

I LOVE Gia, I think shes a brilliant character! but I had suspected her fast release was to help demonstrate that G2F has the versatility that has been scrutinized for some time now. But now it sounds like Girl6 is next, which I didn't expect, and it makes me wonder how long they'll draw this out. I'm only thinking out loud of course, I just find it disappointing that the males seem to be the odd one out, and in comparison lack a fare bit of support compared to Vicky.

Nice work on the promo. Very epic, certainly a movie shot :) I also love your mummy too! Though I think its nice seeing a human on the cover, because it helps me (the shopper) visualize my own characters in the attire. I do however totally understand your reasoning for initially the mummy on the cover, it certainly helps stand out the product from the rest. Good job :)

I thought the Mummy render looked cool, but I don't know if I would have bought the product if I hadn't seen it on a regular human as well. (Except that I actually had a specific need that this set fit perfectly.)

Oddly enough, my reaction to the promo, and then the product description, was, "wait, the mummy isn't included?" It was oddly jarring. The mummy seemed such an essential part of that promo.

If you decide to do another male deity set, maybe Quetzocoatl or some other Aztec or Mayan type?

I agree about m6 and the male line of G2. I can understand releasing one or two female characters, but Girl6 before M6 seems a bit much. It is a saturation of female-only products. I love women, but my primary figure is and always will be male.

At least I wish Daz would release the base for g2 male so we can get used to it. I'm sure that's already developed, and they did that with genesis starter essentials.

I tend to buy the androgynous clothing. For example, I love the stalker getup (badguy for genesis, what ever) and use it in a lot of my renders.

I totally agree that there is a heavy emphasis on skimpwear though. I've been working on a bar scene and I'm pretty depressed with how hard it is to make more than 3 guys not wearing at least 2 of the same thing.

Well it did have human promos... they just were secondaries and not the main. The add-on, however, had it on a human.

I could have done the mummy as a character, but since there were already mummies in the store, I figured Id leave it out. I may eventually do a mummy, but, I am picky when it comes to them.... which likely means its going to be a crapload of work... more than Ive ever taken on. So Im not in a hurry for that one LOL

As for Quetzalcoatl... I actually LOVE Aztec stuff (its a little known fact) I did an Aztec set ages ago, and got hardcore into the culture then... but it tanked, and hard... in terms of, it was prolly my worst selling set ever. I don't think that genre does very well in general. Ive toyed with the idea of doing another (esp since that one, had a weird combo of second skins and props - it was before I actually did clothing) But I just dont know if theres enuff interest there (or enuff supporting products for it to be strong)

Aw, bummer! I didn't even know you'd done an Aztec set. :(

No criticism meant of your Scorpion God promos, anyway. I eagerly awaited that set, and bought it as soon as I could once it was released, as you may remember. :) And I knew it didn't come with a mummy character. But somehow in the back of my mind I just kept expecting it to be there based on the promo. Take it as a compliment to your amazing visual skilz. They made my brain keep seeing what wasn't there!

As for other possible male deities... can I interest you in some Chinese war gods? ;) The Heavenly King of the South, perhaps? Or Houyi, God of Archery?

Yeah, but its pretty aged at this point. It was done something like 8 yrs ago.... for V3 lol I never revisited it, coz it just didn't do well enuff. But maybe one of these days, Ill get brave lol

And no worries, none taken :) I was actually initially worried some may think the mummy was included, and that some may have even wanted it (and I had worries telling them it wasn't there may have been a deal breaker too) I guess when ur a vendor, u think about every possible scenario. I also know that my stuff isn't going to cater to everyone's taste anyway. I have a very masculine/sometimes morbid and gritty kind of style (probably why everyone thinks Im a guy LOL)

As far as Chinese goes.... eh, its not really my forte. Ive never done anything Chinese, so I dunno if I even could lol But Steampunk wasn't my forte either, til I did Eden's Flame... so you never know, I guess lol
