Hey guys. I'm trying to decide what mechs I can kickbash. There are a few cool ones in the market but non of them are exactly what I want, Or at least I can't tell from the promo pics. So I'm looking for something like Pacific Rim type mechs
I've tried some kit bashing with what I have, but the best I have come up with is this

I have been searching my hard drive for my kit-bashed robot and I can't find it. I got the daz session, but not any of the images and I know I shared it on the forum before.
I started a thread complaining ....THIS JUST IN....found it-- and you're in there too.......lol
I forgot how crazy he was......
I've seen all those 'big' robots on sale, here and the EXPENSIVE ones in those other stores....
The one's that you are generally pointing towards have those inverted knees that really bother me.
Plus, they've been in 8 million comics so it'd take a lot of customizing to get them fresh again.
Somewhere around here there's a fake IronMan that I can't wait to use.
Other than that, I'd suggest -
a) Avoid big robots models and start using armor as the foundation.
b) Get those greebles or nurnies to add small details to the body, shoulders and face to make something more interesting.
c) There's a bunch of other sites that also sell starship parts that look like great and varied pieces for robot details.
d) in this shop, one of the mechs does come apart and can be used in bits....or maybe he was made from bits...can't quite remember.
I do remember that robot of yours from the other thread. It looks awesome. I have some great sets of armor. If there was a shader that could turn the bodysuits into mechanical looking parts, that would solve many of my issues, I do have 1 of @DzFIRE 's greeble packs. I need to dust off my imagination and try using the parts.
Oh yeah, I wanted shader that did large metal sections, but I think texture is better than that. It's that Diffuse Channel COLOR tab and browse to the texture. I started grabbing all sorts of textures to change the paint look, and that's why I ultimately grabbed substance painter. I want to make some stuff. lol

Guess there arn't that many mech lovers in the forums.
There are some Pacific Rim mechs in XNALara format at Deviant art (I'm not sure D*Z will allow direct linking). You can use the free suite to pose them and then export them in .OBJ format and finally import them into the render suite if your choice. Admittedly a bit clumsy, but around 20 years ago, that was the usual process. One posed a figure in Poser and then ported the data into Bryce or Ray Dream Studio for final rendering.

My favorite mechs are the ones by Chris @theschell. They are great for Robotech/Macross type stuff, but not so much for Pacific Rim type stuff. Unfortunanty Chris doesn't do business with DAZ anymore and he doesn't hang out in these forums anymore either. I keep in touch with him over at DeviantArt.
The PAs I mentioned above have some of the best mechs in the Daz store, as well as Stone Masion, but they are expensive and not exactly what I'm looking for. I do plan to get them all eventually, but I have to work within a budget, so I prioritize.
I've played around with Hexagon, but I don't have enough time to learn it. Maybe, sometime in the future, after my kids go to college, I'll find the time.
I'll check that out.

Can you tell me how's current situation with mechs, mechas, kaijus and tokusatsus? for daz, maybe including freebies. I've some wishlisted, but i see you searched longer so you know more
There aren't a lot of free mechs out there for Daz or Poser. If you want free, your best bet is to look at XPS models. You can pose them in a free program called XNALara, export them out as OBJ model, then import the OBJ into DAZ. That's what I did in the Pacific Rim render above. Everything you need to know about XNALara is on DeviantArt.
In the DAZ store there are plenty of nice monster/Kaiju models. I have a lot in my wish list along with a bunch of mechs. As far as Mechs I have baught a few from the store but not many. The best mechs are pricy and I have to wait for them to come on sale. You can look at any of my galleries to see what mechs I own (look at my signature below.). If you have specific question about 1 of them, let me know.

Has a selection of mech's, vehicles. props etc. below is the YF-35 Warthog rendered in Iray straight out of the box, not a Mech as such but it does have a walking mode but I bought it ages ago for the Plane mode and haven't used in ages, I need to dust it off properly if I get the chance.

I was really happy with the way they turned out, and there's some obvious anime and mecha influence, but unfortunately the market did not care for them.

Would fit nice stories about "Mechanics"
Now that is interesting, I really like the look of those robots, but I can't recall every seeing them before - I would almost certainly have wishlisted them if I had, as I wishlist any mecha to consider for purchase. Also, I have periodically seached for robots, mecha, power suits, etc. for planning purposes and, again, don't recall these at all.
