I can't say for certain, but I don't see why he would not.  He offers several items through his Tumblr page free of charge, a few of which were formerly sets for purchase (like the Retro Dress for Aiko 3).

I'll pass along your interest in the collection.  Or maybe Oshikai himself will "chime in" here.  He is, after all, a vendor at this store.

    Sincerely,

Its better if you only model one of those platforms and then in Daz Studio, set up the rest as instances and save it as a scene subset.  It will greatly reduce resource usage.  Btw, I know you are new to DS but its all a learning process, you will get there

    That's actually the plan.

When I set up this rendering it was for affect only.
I actually deleted the other 4 (of 76) levels because in the process I saw my RAM drop to 6 and I wasn't planning to add any more levels for anything but verticle shot needs.
Nearly 98% of all my screen shots are horizontal so I don't need the additional levels.
In scenes where I have the character on other levels I'll use another platform on the same level to shoot it and add different furniture and textures.

Yea. I'm new but this isn't rocket science.
I know what I need to do to get the result that I want. All I need to do is figure out how to make the program do it.
    That's the frustrating part.
A lot of this DAZ thing, should be simplified like Hexagon is but as I've said before, if you leave the project to the developers it won't make sense to anyone that isn't a developer.
Developers are incapable of thinking in simple terms and apparently there's no real project management of the developement of the software or it would be the most popular one on the market. Free or otherwise.
The program being free is a teaser to get you to buy the multitudes of crap that screams sex.
By the way, the secret to the success of this company is in its 75% male customer base. DUH.

What I've done so far is after 2 months of part time work with zero knowledge of anything having to do with 3D art at the commencement, AND. No real teaching since most of the U-Tube stuff I've seen so far is actually behind the current version and needs addapting and the writtin material is a joke.

On the other hand, I'm actually surprised at how easy it is reletively speaking, to do what I've done so far but I have a great deal of CAD background too.

All in all, I'd highly recomend this progran to anyone interested in getting involved in 3D despite its current bumps.

Not sure where to go with this.

    What are you fishing for?

    Are you the author?

  • In Hexagon it looks pretty good.
In DAZ it looks great but I keep running into stupid problems getting a rendering made.
It takes nearly 45 minutes to finish and the last two attempts have failed because of outside issues cancelling the rendering mid completion.

I'm actually working only the single level and then copying it for stretch shots showing more levels.
I have to clean up a couple more of the connections between the main structure and the out rigger platforms but I've already laid in the elevator banks and al working on detailing them shortly.

There will be two bars complete with furniture and additional meeting space lounging space in the inland, blank area right side of pic.
After I add some additional textures my plans include listing the model for sale.
Have to look into where (Renderosity?) and for how much next.

I'll post the DAZ rendering as soon as I can get it complete.
That rendering will include the starcsape background.

I don't think they'll let you post the link either but cool rendering.

    There's the DAZ rendering.
I have one in progress that shows the USS-Braga, out of screen upper left that she's looking at.

I'm also working on furniture for the outrigger and the main decking.
I have a bar set for the main decking and some hightops and casual seating for the outrigger.

Also in the works is a better, detailed version of the USS-Braga

Anybody have any input on selling your work?

Still playing with learning how to add textures and lighting to the sceen

That is the first image of the USS-Braga that I know off.
    Just her belly, inconspicuously marked.

Cpt. Jannet Garrett stares wonderously at her from the Star Base lounge, level 76, outrigger.

This is just a compilation of images manipulated with PSP.
I'm gonna try putting them together in DAZ next as one rendering.

I also discovered that using 3DDelite as opposed to Invidia, rockets the rendering time to about 1 second as opposed to upwards of an hour with Invidia.

I'm doing the Braga in a matte finish, dark green color for stealth reasons since she was designed for patrol and law enforcement.

I'm disapointed to the extent that I didn't get Garrett's legs in the scene. She has great legs (go figure huh).

There are several threads here about selling 3d content. It sounds like you pretty much get out of it what you put into it. You can do it part time and you'll make part time money. The big fish, the ones who make significantly more than the median wage in the US, say they put in about 12-14 hours a day. I don't know what the cutoff is to be able to quit your day job, though.

The threads I found most useful:

    https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Making-a-Living-At-DAZ3D-Part-2-The-First-Product-565231074

I know that for me, even though I love computers and I've been using them for 35 years now, I don't want to be chained to a PC for 8+ hours a day. I'm happy to have this as a hobby, if it someday brings in beer money, all the better.

Let me know what you think.

  • Right now I put in 6 to 12 hours a day swinging a hammer in the field.
I'd be happ to swap that for the computer myself.

    Thanks for the URL's
    I'll look at them today.

If you do want to become a PA, start off part time to build your back catalog and gain experiance so that you can better prepare yourself for going full time IF its feasible for you.  There is a lot to learn.  Understanding whats needed on the Daz Studio side of things will help you build better models and make it easier to rig when brought into DS.

In the mean time, I highly recommend you wishlist the following products from DarkEdgeDesign here at Daz3D at it will take you through a lot of what you need to learn in DS for rigging models and more:

anyone got any idea on where i can find PHI builder ?

  • rschulterschulte Posts: 482

Roy bigg’s site freebie for phi builder is down but philc’s “hierarchy builder” (phi builder) is in rendo marketplace

  • You can do the job by hand. You could also use Figure Setup in DS - if you set it to Parametric(Legacy) it will create a figure you can export as a CR2 fro Poser, assuming that is your goal.

I'm tryng PP2ExporterDS4 by mCasual/Jacques (https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts5/pp2exporterds4) with Daz Studio 4.10 to convert props in this gallery https://www.deviantart.com/murbytrek/gallery/36592373/STAR-TREK-Daz3D-Resources

I don't have Poser to try pp2 exported files.
Tell me here if there are any problems then with Poser.
    Thanks

12 Days of part time work.

She's totally custom from my imagination and several online references and the book, Ships of the Star Fleet. Akyazi Class Perimeter Action Ships

No surfaces or textures yet. Just the .obj
    ... And she's scale.

I bought the Dark Edge-Creating Content, V1 package.

One of the things that really annoys me about this software is the lack of any formal instructions on how to use or apply the packages.
So I have a new directory under General (which I had to actually search my Windows directory to find) but there's absolutely nothing in it.

What did I buy and how (assuming I can anyway) do I access it?

Are there any instructions on how to at least open something that tells me anything about this add-on?
It would be really cool if there was at least one .png that had some minor instructions for this, like,
"Manually navigate to the file labeled "Open This Dumb$$$".

Your best bet for now is to just use the Download Install Manager (DIM) to install any of your Daz purchases.

    EDIT:

you can look here for starters - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/start

About two days ago, Tumblr initiated a system wide "purge" and Oshkai/Idelacio's page was one caught within the gears, so to speak.  At the urging of others, he has submitted an "appeal", but does not hold high hopes that his site will be re-instated.  He has set up a Twitter account, but admits that tool is not really set up for long term image hosting.

He, of course, still has his Deviant Art account which is where one can still get his freebies like the Retro Dress (minus the various creature "appendages" linked at his former Tumblr account).  He also has accounts at a few adult sites I'd better not publicly list here.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

For me the cutoff was $2000 a month, because I lived in a much cheaper area back then and that was more than I was making at my other jobs.  It just depends on what the cost of living is where you are and what you are comfortable living on.  I'd not only wait until you're at a sustainable cost of living level but also have a little savings, because there's ups and downs of income in this job (I'm looking at a $16,000 October and a $3000 November right now, for instance) and you need to prepare for the downturns.  Sometimes you calculate the market wrong, or you get sick and have reduced productivity (which is what happened to me, resulting in not enough products in November), or there's just a small downturn at the wrong time because your product was released between big sales.

AS this product contains videos,  in general installer files I would think you can install it to a temp folder anwhere that you normally install video tutorials etc. And then watch them through whatever video software you have installed.

    That's it.
No more mods to the ship.

Now Im gonna figure out how to UVmap and add some new details and I'm done with the Braga.

I'm actually pretty proud of this work...
It stands up on its own without the backgrounds really well.
I typically don't put my own art on my desktop but this one rated my approval.
I took the large images off here and replaced them with smaller ones here then put the bigger ones back up on Deviantart with watermarks.
You can see the detail better in the larger images but the smaller ones are available for free download.
Several people have marked them as fav's and I now have several llama badges (whatever those are-my ignorance)

    https://www.deviantart.com/handyman4545

I had originally thought about just dumping the .obj on the market via Turbosquid but the thoughtful insight of another person on this forum has lead me to feel that UV'g it first is a better deal for the buyer so I'm screwing around now with learning how to map and use PSP (hit and miss button pushing) to create some additional detail and plating effects.

I considered applying to Daz but I'm still a one trick pony and until I finish the Peachtree or another vessel, I have no more inventory so I'm pretty sure I'l be politely declined.
Besides, I'm an unknown newby. --- (At the moment)

    Hope you folks enjoy them.
