Hi Lunchlady, answered your post in the other thread. Afaik that's what happens when alphas overlap, I think. As you pointed out they will render correctly.

I don't know if there is a workaround and it does make tweaking poses a PITA.

Sorry I'm not more help :-S

Same here and it took a while before I realized what was happening. The poor thing's long hair was sticking through her chest but when I spun the view around, the hair wasn't even close. :)

Renders fine though and that's what counts.

Was working on this since yesterday and it was very close to being done...

Then I decided to experiment with Dof and render settings-- and that totally borked the AoA SSS toon skins :ahhh: :-S

Been trying to fix it for the past 6 hours but every time I use AoA's Subsurface Toon Shaders in this scene the renders come out with the lines seen in Quality 1-3 renders :-S The characters render fine when they're not in the scene though :shut:

I'd be grateful if anyone has a solution otherwise I'll have to rebuild the scene from the ground up

Anyhoo.... here's the last good test render for Even Dolls need a Holiday :-P

Responded in the other thread also. You use transparency to hide flesh in the middle of the ball joints, you get layered transmap looks in preview. It happens.

I don't have the AoA toon shaders, so I can't help you there. "Dolls gone wild" is a cute idea, though. :D

So far these dollies are our most successful joint product ever, even outstripping the Mermaid sets. We love your renders. People are taking it to all kinds of cute and creepy places, and that's exactly what we hoped for. Keep it up!

You and Fuseling deserve the success :cheese: This is the type of product you didn't know you wanted but just had to have once you saw it ;-) Brava, brava! :-)

Thank you so much SY, I'm going to re-do the scene to make it more Dolls Gone Wild ;-P I wonder if nekkid dolls with no genitalia are still in violation of the TOS :-P

I noticed that I can apply the torso texture from whichever texture set I am using to the ball joints and they seem to blend in nicely with the other textures. I don't know if this will work in all instances, but it seems to for myself.

Dude! Thank you so much for the tip :cheese:

EDIT: tried it with the Freak Doll and not all of the joints were covered, which was fine because I knew what to do :cheese: I opened the torso texture in PS, sampled the color and created a texture.jpg for the ball joints :) The toon skin version wasn't a match so I did a quick render then sampled the rendered toon skin for the texture which matched really well :-)

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction :)

Sickleyield does it again! I love ball joint, I think I'm going to make a creepy-ish doll collection on deviant art. This is my first one.

I used sculptural fun pack for the UV map, to get the eyelashes I had to revert to a genesis UV just for that. I needed UV pack for the wood to come out "in a piece".

I've been using/am addicted to Octane renderer. I love the way the materials come out, but the diffuse, trans maps, bump maps, etc. are all from DAZ, from one product or shader or other, I just mess with them mercilessly.

Sickle, I don't mean to sound like a twittering fan-boy, (although, looks-like-a-duck as they say), but you really make, that is not only fun, but inspires creativity too.

    THANK YOU!

That looks awesome. Reminds me a bit of these wrestler dolls my sister had growing up. Yeah, I know, my sister had them instead of Barbies, which is okay, but kind of unexpected.

I'm glad the idea panned out. I only wish you didn't have to go through the extra step of making a texture. I haven't checked out the texture template for the ball joints yet, but I imagine one of the figures textures would probably be able to cover all the joints. Maybe the face texture? I'll keep playing to figure it out. But yeah, it's not a lot of work to create a texture in PS or Gimp. In fact, one texture would probably work over multiple characters, if the skin tone is similar. I'm jealous that SickleYield and Fuseling thought of this instead of myself. It's a great product, and lots of fun to play with. I'm kind of wishing I had bought the Genesis 1 version instead of Genesis 2 so I can use it on more figures. I guess I could still buy the other one, but I haven't decided yet.

Beautiful. I like the ballet one especially.

I'm going to do an update that adds a "Use Torso UV" option to the ball joints themselves. We didn't anticipate so many people would want to use them with other textures., and the lower back area is similar enough on all the major UVs.

That's great news, SickleYield! I didn't think this product could get any better, but there you go.

I've uploaded the update for both versions and will post again when it's up in DIM and Product Libraries. The G2F version needed two, one for the G2F materials setup (in which the torso is named "Torso") and one for legacy setups (which use the name "2_SkinTorso"). They are labeled so hopefully you can easily tell which to use.

Figured I try the G2F Ball Joint Doll with the AlfaSeed G2F creation ... will probably have some more time on the next weekend to do some renders, but anyway ... here goes a quick one as first try :)

Thank you so much for the update, SY; it'll really help as I'm adding more characters to Dolls Gone Wild :cheese:

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, I've downloaded and reinstalled the update, replaced the Ball Joints but when I go to the Surfaces tab the UV Set dropdown menu has Default UVs as its only option.

Almost certainly I'm doing it wrong :-P Where do I find the "Use Torso UV" option as right clicking SFBDJoints doesn't seem to be it :red:

Like I said, I've just uploaded it. It still has to go through QA and be packaged and distributed by the QA staff. That's why I said I'll post again when it's up.

D'oh :shut: Sorry for jumping the gun, SY; I didn't realize that updates need to be vetted as well :red:

Eustace Scrubb's Mephistophilis Noir comic book shaders and your BJD sets have gotten me rendering in 3Delight. And the BJD set is perfect for the characters that I felt Reality wasn't appropriate for :-P

Yeah this product is awesome, especially when added to west park stuff. Nothing like a random creepy doll to set the scene.
