Curvy 3d 3.0 - Any Experience With It / Opinions?
I found this video on the Curvy 3d.

Does anyone have any input on this product? Although it's $55.41 right now, that's a lot of money for something I know nothing about. I can draw so am wondering how detailed you can get with this program, how hard it is to use, etc- particularly the mesh it produces.
EDIT: HERE'S what I've pulled up so far as reviews, etc:

Curvy 3D v2 also adds Image-based sculpting. You load an image with White shapes on black background - it's that easy. The program does the rest, and a few clicks later you have 3D models based on your original sketches and drawings.

dunno but it is $10 dearer for me!
ooops edit, got logged out again!

This forum seems to have quite a few people who know about different programs, and talk about the features/ what they like, would like to have, etc.
From what I can tell it's a spline modeler. You draw in the program and it converts your curves to 3D objects.
What I'm curious to know is if there's a place to add it into a Daz/Poser workflow, or if it's strictly to create new objects/figures rather than model around existing ones. Can it import figures and be used as a morphing tool?

Bigh says he likes it, the thread talks about some of the other programs too. Maybe Bigh can help us out. I'll PM him.
I have use it - can do so nice thing with it - but the interface is different and takes
some time to get use to .
" You load an image with White shapes on black background - it's that easy " - this to me great .
Had a lot of fun using it .
I've just bought it, but does anyone know where I get the licence key from to unlock it? Nothing in my account.
just a (very quick ) one to show - render done in DS - needs work
would guess from their site - pretty sure that's what people did last time it was for sale here .
some tutorials here -

I am curious.
It says that it can export to other software.
Will I be able to import a Curvy made shape into hexagon and make it into a dsf file for DAZ?
Also, can I make square shapes with Curvy, like boxes?
When I was a kid me and a friend invented a weird cartoon figure, I've often thought it could be fun making a 3D version so I tried to see how it would work out. It was quite easy but it's also a very simple version, not sure how easy it is to make fingers, toes etc. in this program. Had problems with smoothening the ears for example but maybe they should be made using a different technique than the one I used ("Pull Tubes" tool).
Tried to paint on it with the paint tools in the program, but not sure how to export it as a texture. Texture > Save just produced a white bmp file.
The one to the right is the exported .obj imported into DS.

Spheres, cylinders, cubes.
@Vaskania I've used Curvy to make props to fit a poser character, several examples on this page
Curvy Props with Poser Characters
@wilmap The Daz team have serial keys to give out to customers, you should have had one inside your confirmation email. If you can't find it pm me with your order email and I'll get you one.
@Estroyer Curvy models export as OBJ which is a very common 3D format - almost certainly will load into Hexagon without problems - and from there into whichever formats you need. Curvy 3.0 has regular primitives like boxes and cylinders with the option to slightly bevel the edges for a more natural look.
Bevelled Primitives
You also get a hybrid sharp/curved shape, the Slab, which is handy for making manmade looking shapes.
The Slab
@Taozen I'd usually make toes/fingers by sculpting them as separate objects then using Weld as a last step to join them to the foot/hand.
Using File/Save will only save the selected texture - ie: The current object & with a little paintbrush symbol on the UI. The easiest way to save all textures is just to save the scene. Any modified textures will be saved alongside your 'cvy' file as BMPs.
N.B. If you used "Surface Paint" instead of "Texture Paint" the colours will be saved in the vertices rather than on a texture map. While that is convenient for painting inside Curvy, you should paint textures if you aim to export elsewhere.
Book mark, very interesting I need to look into this.
Exactly the same thing just happened with me. I can't run it because I need a Keycode and that Keycode is not where I would expect it (i.e. in the Serial Numbers tab of my account) nor is there anything in the order e-mail.
This keeps on happening to me with software that I buy here and honestly I am sick to death of it. This is another example of rank incompetence on the part of DAZ. So now I have to raise a ticket in the useless Zen system, which I know will take nine weeks to be answered, probably with a "Your request has been marked as resolved".
Come on DAZ - this is not Rocket Science. Get your act together before a competitor does it for you!
@acanthis please pm me your order email and I will send you a serial key
I did not get the key either but I am about to take a nap.
Thanks for offering to help - but, and please don't take this the wrong way, I don't know who you are.
The serial number has to come from the company that I purchased the product from: DAZ.
I have raised a SnailZEN ticket and now I think I'd be better off taking a nap too! A very long one.
I do understand. I am Simon, the developer of Curvy 3D.
Of course this issue needs to be fixed by Daz, and I have left a note on the product for them.
In the mean time you can also send your order email straight to me at curvy3d.com here and I will be able to provide a key within 24 hours.
I just had a peek at some YouTube tuts and I am very impressed!
Dubbing between buying it now with the high discount or trying out the 30 day trial first but with the risk of paying more if I like it.
As I am writing this, I am reminded that DAZ has a 30-day money back policy, so I might just as well get it now...
OK. I have forwarded the order e-mail just now. This has to be quicker that waiting for a response from SnailZEN.
Thanks.
UPDATE: The Keycode has now appeared in my Serial Numbers and I am able to use the program. What I do not understand is why this process is so dreadful and, as I said, this is not the first time. If there is a delay in issuing a serial number then it should say so on the product page; after all, the customer has paid their money, now they want their goods - or at least they should be given some notification telling them how long they will have to wait. Instead, the customer is left in limbo. Wondering. Wondering if they will ever be able to use their software. Wondering if DAZ filed for Chapter 11 just after taking their money. Wondering how hard it can be to just tell the customer what's going on. ... Wondering.
Anyway, am now reading the online documentation.
OK just got mine as well.
Let the fun begin- I got mine earlier this morning but haven't had a chance to do anything with it. Wanted to thank Bigh and Simon for coming onto the thread and helping us out with the information. Appreciate you very much! :)

Just started using it and I'm impressed by how quickly simple objects can be created. The program seems very responsive and well laid out.
It's looking good and I can see an immediate use for creating custom props.
Hmmm, does this work with Windows 7 64 bit?
Product Compatibility
Works with Windows XP and newer. 32 and 32 bit.
Is it possible that after you have created something in Curvy 3d it can then be brought into DAZ studio and then use the shaders from daz?
regarding Windows 7 64 bit:

I found that discussion with Simon but want to know if the dlls are needed?
I don't know about 7, but I've tried it under Windows 8.1 both 64 bit and 32 bit and it seems OK.
Yes it works fine in Windows7 64.
