The latest update does NOT work with Mr Mushroom's eyes sad  Without the character, I couldn't really test and Daz Testing said it didn't work.

I'm still having results that I cannot make sense of. I think there is something wrong with the side to side action of Look at Camera II. For a simple example, I started with a G8M character in the default A pose, in the default 0,0,0 position. I adjusted Chest Lower to -5.00. The camera is aimed at the character and pointed straight at him. Please look at the attached images. They show the preferences I have set and they show what happens each time I run Look at Camera II. The character keeps bending to his left from Abdomen Upper, more each time I apply Look at Camera II. Why is he bending to his left every time? The camera isn't over to his left.

I worked hard to make the math work, but quite honestly, it was a lot of trial and error (mostly error).   I cannot explain why it is bending left without a lot of time and analysis.

In this particular case, it appears that the Abdomen Upper Side-Side change is intending to compensate for the existing Chest Lower Side-Side transformation, but is moving in the SAME direction as the existing Chest Lower transformation instead of in the opposite direction to compensate.

The problem is that the script doesn't look at the values for side-side, etc.  The math looks for the position and orientation of the head and target, then starts calculating new rotation matrix for each of the bones.

There was an update for Look at Me II in DIM and I installed it.  I am currently using DS 4.12.  After installing the update, Look at Me II no longer works.  I had to resort to going back to the original Look at Me Pose Control.

*By no longer works, I mean, when selecting a figure, then an object, and then using the script, absolutely nothing occurs.

The same thing for me, with DS 4.14.0.10, and a Genesis 8 figure. I reverted to an older version, which fixed it.

I just tried again with a character (G8F) and object (trying to make her look at a book in her hands); there was no visible difference in before/after for the posing.  When using Head selections at 100%, the log said:

There was an update for Look at Me II in DIM and I installed it.  I am currently using DS 4.12.  After installing the update, Look at Me II no longer works.  I had to resort to going back to the original Look at Me Pose Control.

*By no longer works, I mean, when selecting a figure, then an object, and then using the script, absolutely no occurs.

The same thing for me, with DS 4.14.0.10, and a Genesis 8 figure. I reverted to an older version, which fixed it.

    What does the log say?

I just tried again with a character (G8F) and object (trying to make her look at a book in her hands); there was no visible difference in before/after for the posing.  When using Head selections at 100%, the log said:

  • I have the same issue since a few days. I still used the old version, the one before the update for Genesis 8.1.
And yes, I have Eye Clock, and that I updated. So, it could be that this caused the issue.

But Eye Clock Pose Control is for Genesis 3 only, or?

However, uninstalling that one or updating Look At Me II had not helped. I was reluctant to do so, as I still use DAZ 4.14 and do not intent to upgrade.

When I uncheck in options "Adjust Eyelids," at least the script does anything (but not adjusting the eyelids). With the option checked, nothing happens at all.

I checked that path. The file was there. With a timestamp of today. After deleting Eye Clock Pose Control and updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling Look At Me II.
I still had the old installer — the one before the Genesis 8.1 update — and manually overwrote RSEyeFunctions.dse with the old version.
    Now it works again.

Aha!  I think I figured out what happened.  RSEyeFunctions was encrypted for the wrong version of DS.  Try this one.

Hey. Trying to use this with a Gen3 model, and the eyes just roll. Any idea what could be wrong?

Is that a change everyone needs or just that user?

  • @barbult: I think it is needed by all who recently updated either Eye Cock Pose Control or/and Look at Me II. Unless you only work with Genesis 8.1 atm, as this apparently ignores the Eyelids anyway.
I asked in another thread — that was deleted — if the changed parameters for Genesis 8.1 could cause issues with updated pose and expression assets for older generations.
It seems my fears were correct.

If you are using the latest version of DS, you shouldn't need the file.  With an older version of DS, it was failing to open the file causing the error.

That's what I thought, based on the encryption version comment, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for clarifying. I'm using DS 4.15, so I am OK with the DIM version and don't need the new file.

I've been using LAM II for a while now, and been happy with it.  It's a tool I use a LOT.  yes And it works with G8.1, so that's not an issue.  However, I recently picked up the new Acting Skills 3 by Alfan, which handles eyes and eyelids differently, and, in my opinion better than LAM II.  I've started using LAM for the head orientation, and then AS3 for the eyes.  That works fine, but obviously it makes life more complicated, since you need to back and forth between the two things, and AS3 is kind of buried deep in posing parameters, and it doesn't have the sweet UI LAM has.

If there was a new LAM III which incorporates the improvements found in AS3, I'd buy that, like right away.  So fast.  ZOOM ZOOM!

You want another LAM that can use third party side-side and up-down controls?  So if someone has Acting Skills 3, they could specify that instead?

Or collaborative effort?  I'm not sure what's possible on that front.  All I know is that whatever AS3 does with the eyes looks like an improvement I've been waiting for nearly since as long as I've been using DS, and that I'd purchase a separate product that only works on the characters that can support it.  It does have some limitations, but I'm happy with the results, so far.

Thank you for the Look At Me scripts, they are astonishingly useful. I can't imagine posing a scene without them.

I ran into an odd bug last night. One of the G3Fs in my scene, who's been happily looking at things via your script many times, suddenly stopped applying any movement to her head. So if I used any of the scripts on her - look at camera, that, eyes, etc. - she would move her eyes, chest, and abdomen, but not her head. As if the head sliders in the scene were all at 0, even though they wreren't. Other G3Fs in the same scene worked fine, other bones worked fine, just not the head on that one figure. I tried closing and reloading the scene, I tried using the old version 1 script instead, still the same issue. In the end I merged an older save of the same figure into my scene and used her instead - and she worked.

Unfortunately, I don't have a save of the malfunctioning scene, so I can't recreate the fauilt or send you useful bits of the log file. I'm not expecting you to fix this, but thought I'd report it so you know about it.

    Thanks again.

I don't know why that happened.  Probably some bones got locked?
