Still here. Power is still on, that's a good sign. Lots of rain and local flooding, but my property is on high ground.
Thunder got distant and actually lulled me to sleep for a while. Wide band of sometimes heavy rain still moving from south overhead, more scattered T-storms expected until late tonight.

I had a burger with cheese with fries. That's what I always have, except when I don't.

Burger is one of the food groups? Along with Coke, chips (fries?), pizza, milkshakes...

My Windows Vista has started to act flakey, after a few goes around with CHKDSK at startup it tells me all the disks are OK, is that reliable does anyone know?

I do not drink alcohol other than that that seems good. I got drunk once and hated it. That was when I went to a girl's day out wine testing with my mum and her friend and my friend who was the daughter of my mum's friend. No one noticed I was drinking all the wine they gave us instead of just tasting it. They gave several full servings and I was twenty one and on my first wine testing tour. I drank all the wine they gave me and then wondered why the room was spinning. The mums noticed I was drunk and got me food to eat and helped me sit down. It was not fun.

After a dozen or so scans CHKSDK slowed right down so I guess there is something not right with the boot disk. Windows taskbars have continuous green chugging going on and network shares have been black holed, some config file got trashed somewhere? Don't really understand Windows although Vista has been pretty solid over the years for me anyhow. *Le sigh* Not a great week so far.

No word from tjohn or Jaderail yet? They had a rough night and supposed to be a repeat performance in the forecast for today.

Did you scan the surface of the disk for bad sectors? I'm not sure how to scan for bad sectors/blocks in Windows Vista. Can you check the SMART attributes? I lost a disk due to several megabytes of bad sectors near the file table. Is the CPU or video card overheating? Is there good air flow through your case?

Did you scan for for malware/adware? Programs that you accidentally installed that are taking 100% of the CPU? Microsoft updates can be slow to run especially on Windows XP computers. Is the memory (RAM) modules seated properly? Maybe you need to reinstall the drivers for your video card and/or mother board?

Is the computer rebooting unexpectedly when the room is warm? Maybe the power supply or motherboard are going bad? I found a loose power connector on my motherboard. I moved it out of place when I was replacing the bad hard drive. Sorry I couldn't help out more but I ran out of ideas now.

For awhile it looked like Jaderail was going to take a direct hit, but AFAIK it went around him. Everything's fine here in Texas, 80 F right now.

It's actually a bit early for him to come in as, being a Drow, he tends to work nights. Will let you know when I see him come on line, if you don't spot him first.

Tonight is supposed to be a bit better here, more likely heavy rain and lightning, tornadoes less likely.
No real damage here, although there's devastation a few counties over. I didn't lose power yet.
Flooding is the big forecast here.

And he probably stayed up later than usual, keeping tabs on the situation (like I did).

On second thought, it does look more like a Foxtrot. :)

BIOS tells me SMART status is OK, Vista tells me file system is OK. Guess I have to believe. You can schedule a CHKDSK at startup from vista using properties > Tools > Verify Disk. Took a few goes (a dozen?) before it let me tick the box saying check for bad blocks, not sure why. Compy boots real quick now so I guess something was off somewhere. All the while Windows is telling me everything's good, nothing to see here
