I am back again from my winter sleep lol ! trying out the new DS with Iray
checking my DS products and how the materials behave after conversion what is very easy by just one click
Select the desire model, go to shader presets Iray and apply the first !iray_Uber_Base
it will convert it nicely, for even better effect, you can plug the Glossy gray weight maps into the Reflection and set it on value 1.
but only if use HDR maps for the dome
Since all my DAZ product include maps that was based on PBR values u get nice effect.
I am glad a was little bit ahead
bellow some raw test renders with fragments from Hercules and Hoplite soldier
no post-worked or edited
I used just accurate HDR light maps for the Dome

Spring Awakening I see ;-) Welcome back Cath! Your maps display really nicely here, the wear & detail show through beautifully. It's like we've been saying for a long time, when the maps are right, everything else falls in place when a "StandART" is followed. All the PBR's (Physically Based Renderers), whether, Lux, Octane, and now Iray bear this out. Here's an Iray test from over the weekend with the Spartan pants. The leather comes to life. "Simple is Beautiful"
I've also noted in Iray, that minimizing the texture compression (under Render Settings>> advanced tab, increase medium / high to 1024, 2048, 0r 4096 if texture is that large), reduces or eliminates any issue with bump or normals.
Hiya Cath! Glad to see you back with us :) Hope you feel better soon. Love your renders, your models look even more real if that's possible rendered in iray. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. -Cathy
Hi Cathy, thank you so much my friend !
I am glad to be back, missed everyone !
I have a lot of new great ideas for DS and Iray :)
finally can do stuff the way it really should.

I know this thread is very old so I'm crossing my fingers by posting here, otherwise, I will start a new discussion. It is so hard to find good Roman era armor for anything over Genesis 2, so I bought the Hoplite, Hercules, and Spartan because it is so damn good. Breastplates/cuirass are next to impossible to find, and the Hoplite has a double-headed eagle that rocks! So, I have converted these to Genesis 3 and now I'm trying to get the metal of the breastplate to be either a shining silver or gold, however, once I convert the breastplate to IrayUber and add a gold I lose the eagle completely. I've tried using the cntrl/cmd whilst adding the metal shader to ignore image, but it's just not cutting it. This is such a beautiful piece but unfortunately, my shader skill set is not very advanced. I have tried to tweak as many dials to experiment on-the-fly, but I cannot reach that high metallic, reflective finish without sacrificing the eagle.
My hunch that it must be a displacement map, have you tried adding that? I dont have the product, but maybe someone with the original can check the settings.
When you apply the Iray shader to the desired surfaces hold down the CTRL key. A popup will appear with some options, select IMAGES Ignore. For this render I adjusted the image gamma of the Base image(Diffuse) to 0.2 also through right clicking the image and selecting image editor.

Thought so. Thanks Kerya.

Really nice looking outfit! Excellent surfaces, cloth, metal. Nice attention to detail and simple and bold color palette . Thumbs Up.

Breastplate with a gold shader added
