And I'm not far at all from where you're describing (under the approach to Runway 19.)

So I am, but at a different airport in a different part of the world, but still under the approach of a runway as 190 degrees (north/south) called Runway 19 (which that says really)

LOL. In some ways, it's a small world. In others... not so much! I wonder if you get bonus frequent-flyer miles if you take off at one Runway 19 and land at another Runway 19.

Also, seems like "Runway 19" should be a location in a Dr. Who episode.

Runway 37 would be more interesting, much like plattform 9 1/2 ;-)

You know what always bugged me? So, the Hogwarts Express leaves from Platform 9 & 3/4... Except that's in the UK, and that means metric system, and everyone knows that the metric system is far superior to the empirical system because fractions are completely unnecessary. I mean, who likes fractions? It SHOULD be Platform 9.75. Less "poetical" (as Anne of Green Gables would say), but far more practical. Must be the physics teacher in me.

Wow. This is an ADD post if I've ever seen one. Harry Potter to the metric system to Anne of Green Gables...

...in the UK use of the metric system is not "absolute", particularly with regards to road signs (speed restriction, clearance, and distance) which must still be indicated in Imperial units. Beer is also still sold by Imperial rather than metric measure.

Okay, lol. I can cross that off the list of things that bug me! And I had no idea about the Beer thing. I feel my Milwaukee education was improved tonight...

But to Europe, the Brits are a special case with their pints, farlong per fortnight and miles per hour. In Sweden and Germany for example (countries who like precise and accurate information, we're using the SI system all in)

...even in the Shadowrun universe of the 2060s, the UK still uses the Pound Sterling (period slang "Sovs" - short for "Sovereigns") instead of the Euro or ubiquitous Nuyen (the standard currency in most of the game world) . Many transactions are still also conducted with hard currency as well rather than electronic transfers. Loved the look on the players' faces when their characters were paid off with a manila envelope containing bundled 100 Quid banknotes rather than the usual certified credstick.

When it comes to beer, ordering a pint sounds so much better than ordering 0.5682615 liter. :)

Here beer is sold in pubs in glasses as either large beer or small beer (large is about 0.4L and small about 0.25L
Large was 0.5L and small was 0.33L before but that has changed, and 0.5L is almost a pint.

I can confirm that the UK doesn't totally accept the metric system. Eggs also are still sold in dozens and half dozens, whether free range or the prepacked ones from supermarkets. This in addition to Beer being sold by the pint in Pubs and the fact that we still travel at 30/40/50 etc MPH and measure the length of our journeys by the miles covered. Also clothes measurements are more often in pre decimal measurements. We Ladies much prefer the fact that we have a 24 inch waist measurement to a 60.96 cm one for example. 36 24 38 sounds much slimmer than 92 61 96 for example.

And saying you're weight in stones makes you seem WAY lighter than kilos :D

Thanks, MelanieL, Morgan R. Lewis, Kyoto Kid, Jindi, Ken OBanion

Totte #7 Good use of an odd pull for sure!
Jaderail #3 Dark, but looks good at full size. Great poses and expressions!
Scott-Livingston#2 Hehe, really goofy. I love it! I love Walter's material.
emsim #4 Haha, sounds like you had fun waiting for this to render. I never use DOF - I think it looks great but takes way to long. I always fake it in Photoshop I love her pose and expression and the situation. Are those big red mosquitos? That would be an emergency!
MorganRLewis#2 Nice one - the really dark in tone making the weapons, hands and faces pop.
Jaderail #4 Another dark one that looks great it full size. (I am always lightening my stuff up because I never know if it's too dark on other people's monitors, but some things look better dark for the mood, like this one.) An odd pull. Kudos!
Jaderail #5 OK, so now there is a lot of white. Hehe. I like the large rocky-textured plane in the front leading into the picture
Jindi #05 LOL, what is mother up to?!
Ken OBanion #5? Definitely seems like a "bit of melancholy", as jaderail put it.
Karibousboutique #5 Ooooh, nice colors! I love the split scene(s) with the two moods.
Jagerail#6 Nice posing! I love the expression on the guy sitting down in the back.
MelanieL#4 Wow, a really tough pull! Great solution and it's really funny! I love the gator coming through the gate!
TarinaKivi #1 I love this one! The background is just right, with the bit of motion, to make the figures pop and to create the atmosphere.
Kyoto Kid #1 I'm glad you got a couple of renders done for this time. I always enjoy them. This one is very nice lots of fun! and and "epic production", as you said. What else could it be? (tjohn's water shader looks awesome. I will have to try it.)
Denny L Wow, that's great! I especially love the movement out of the TV screen and the enhanced scorpions. (OK, I just looked at the product page and saw the come with those features. That's going on my wishlist. Noggin is brilliant.)
Ken OBanion #6 Quite an outfit. You have such an interesting runtime. (I do too.)
TarinaKivi #2 This one is just nutty beautiful! I love it!
Ken OBanion #7 Definitely a "blaze of weird." Hilarious.
KaribousBoutique #6 Gorgeous. I love the expressions and poses and colors.
MelanieL#5 Quite a tour de force. Bravo! (Bundles are so much fun.) Great posing and situation.
barbult #1 That's great! I love the posing and expressions. the pigeons are too funny. (I wouldn't want their job though.)
Kyoto Kid #2 I love this one! Great story and lights!
KaribousBoutique #7 OMG, that is so cool! I love the dark serious and mood and situation with the comedy. Priceless, and your toilet was exploding and it was at the midnight deadline!.
Jaderail - I love your final one, sorry it didn't make it in time. It would have gotten one of my votes.

...actually 0.5L is slightly more than an actual pint (liquid measure) unless one is referring to 20oz imperial pints. The German Bierstube that recently opened nearby taps beer in .3, .5 and, full litre quantities. Much better than the usual "pub pint" which is actually between 12.5 - 14 oz. depending on the thickness of the glass' bottom and sides. About the only way to get a "true" 16 oz. pint at most pubs here is to get a "tall boy" can, but usually it is only cheap industrial swill.

Since we were talking about the UK, I was referring to Imperial pints. :)

...the Gallery here is like the home page of DA, it changes too rapidly and you have to do a lot of manual searching.

This is why I am reluctant to upload anything to the gallery here myself as it gets shoved back several pages in less than a day. I wish there was a better system of categorising works like the old Gallery did. Same for the old Art Zone.

Maybe we can set up themed threads over in the Art Studio Forum for posting images instead.

...that is abut the only way one can "filter" selections. So oft times if you don't know of someone, you could miss out on some really nice work, whereas if there were at least "themed" galleries (like Fantasy, SF, Humourous, Landacapes/Cityscapes. Portraits, etc...) you would have something to narrow everything down by.

Not wishing to be unkind, but there are far too many uploading 5 or more test renders, instead of waiting until they have a finished final render to upload. If everyone did that, the pages wouldn't fill up so fast, and the overall quality of the Galleries would improve.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. The current mess is mostly due to people uploading too many images at once, many of them being only test renders. They at least should choose to mark them as "visible only in their gallery" and not on the main page.
...agreed as well. WIPs are more what the Art Gallery Forum is for. In the old galleries only final renderings of scenes were accepted.

Thank you for the compliment! : ) I don't have a deviantart gallery, just the daz one. I don't think I would have time to upload images into two places anyway, but I like going through other's deviantart galleries. There is lots of good stuff there and I think people take more time to decide what to upload there than in here. I also wish we had option to subscribe to someone's gallery to get alerts if they upload something new. It would make them so much more useful... Looking for renders you like in the flooded gallery can be very difficult and tiring.

Thanks. I'm glad you like it and that you found it. It seems easier to me to use my Deviant Art gallery than the DAZ Gallery. Also I have a lot of people there that I watch and that are watching me. I get notifications when they post new work. We comment on each other's work and can put (links to) their stuff in our favorites folders. It is pretty cool. I will put Sir Mandrake up in my DAZ gallery, but it will possibly be harder to find. ;-P

Luci, I featured you (and Totte and Jaderail) in my dA journal. I've been starting to find the rest of the BWC/RRRR regulars and +devwatch-ing them so I can feature everyone in future journals. The puffy pants life preservers has a place of honor in my feature, lol. :)

As for the DAZ Gallery, yeah... it is hard to keep up with it. I drop things in there, but they disappear from the main page pretty fast. It's nice because you can find DAZ people by their usernames, though. deviantArt has recently instituted an "undiscovered" browse beta feature. It's nice because you don't see EVERYTHING posted, but you don't ONLY see the most popular items, either. You can opt to see this in any/every category (like 3-Dimensional Art). Tends to filter out the five-zillion-consecutively-posted-images-of-pumpkin-chested-women and leaves mostly stuff worth watching. And, obviously, dA has the ability to watch specific users or groups. The Dazaholics group is a good one to watch. :-)
