Quite some time ago someoneposted something for this set-up. I had another go at it. Camera in front of the torus, partly negative lights. It is either an eye or a camera lens.

Hansmar - definitely a lens in my eyes, well done.

Hansmar - a camera lens (or the eye of a robot, which may amount to the same thing) - I love those fuzzy edges.

Hansmar, when I open up my PaintShopPro, I get a camera lens that looks a lot like this.  I think that it's beautiful.

    Another couple of panoramic renders.
#1 I'm going to call "Swirl of Silk" - I moved the camera just under the top of the torus and set the radial lights to colour gradients. The sphere is a simple reflective and slightly transparent surface and the torus has a simple "leopard" material.
#2 "Flying Discs" - a colour change on the torus and the sphere was changed to include spots and the torus was made partly reflective. The camera moved again.

MelanieL, awesome renders!  The second one looks very organicm so cool.  I love the 360 degree view on them and especially on the first one.

MelanieL, Horo, adbc, mermaid010, adbc, NGartplay: Thanks.

MelanieL: Very nice results. Wonderful textures, I specifically like the one with the rings like little dust specks.

I've done another one. Put the camera in the hole in te tous, 180 degree view, some texture and a gellight for one of the lights. And some negative specular.

I can call it "Darkness pooring in".

Hansmar - apt name, I can feel the darkness coming towards me. Special and well done.

Hansmar, it certainly looks and feels like a space station being invaded by some kind of alien life.  Cool stuff.

Hansmar : cool idea, very well done.

Hansmar - nice idea, cool render, I agree it does look like a space station.

  • MelanieLMelanieL Posts: 7,155

Hansmar - what a great idea, it works really well with that blackness just oozing into the structure. And thank you for your comments on mine.

Horo, NGartlpay, adbc, mermaid010, MelanieL: Thanks.

And I made two new ones, closely related. I now placed the camera close to the torus, but still inside it's hole. Still 180 degree view. One with a white light inside the sphere and one with a white light, but the two reflective planes are now partly transparent, partly reflective and have a transparent colour (red for one and blue for the other). I also rotated the camera so the torus is on its side in the view.
