Generally seems that people hope this is so, but there's no proof thus far. Though a recent product "might" be screenshots of her in an outfit
(or might just be some other morph set).
That is only helpful to PC members, and it is still all only speculation, as nobody knows anything. There is also another thread in this forum somewhere where they have been speculating about this, but I can't remember off hand which one it was. It wasn't specifically a thread about this, just things that got said in passing.
That would be THIS one. It turns out I'm the one who caused the thread to derail to Mei Lin.
Anyway, as I said before, I know it's just testimony on my part, but someone did PM me a ReadMe page for "Mei Lin 6 General Poses" last week before it was promptly pulled.
Unfortunetly I'm not PC member. So I can't see those thread.

She could be a morph from something like the 'People of the Earth' set, or the Ethnics for G2F, or Dial-a-Girl. I have two of those sets but don't recognize this face. However while she could pass for Chinese, she is not as distinctive as Lee, so I'm skeptical - its a face that could pass for Caucasian as well as Asian - or maybe a mixed person.

I highly doubt a PA would risk getting a sack because of using an unreleased DO major shape in promos. Fellow PAs at DA stated clearly that this is something DAZ detests and punishes for accordingly (no surprise). Besides, this morph looks like somebody Sabby could have made. I think I saw something like that in her department at Rendo the other day. And moreover, Clarice Dress doesn't have Mei Lin listed as supported shapes. Nobody would dare to do that, I think.

Aww, what a hilarious remake of "I Need a Hero". This should be chanted throughout every subforum.
Yeah I don't think that image is Mei Lin either - because its not distinctively Asian, let alone Chinese. Its a face that could be a wide variety of ethnicities.
If it did turn out to be Mei Lin - I'd be very disappointed and might even skip Mei Lin (barring a great bundle) - because the figure doesn't look different enough.
Of the 6th gen figures, Michael, Josie, Lee and Lilith have all appeared in product samples before their release. I don't believe the artwork was done by the vendor, however.

Jayden was another one. Hell, he even appeared in the Compatibility Matrix before he was even released! :)
Speaking of which, has anybody else noticed that they have yet to add Lee and Lilith to the list? They did this last time a few months back after A6 came out. I had to submitted a ticket to have her, Gianni and Giselle added. I may need to submit another one after Mei Lin hits the store.
Though, the idea of Lee up there will be interesting, just to see if DAZ includes the M4 Elite character as his Gen 4 version. :lol:

I kind of want them to leave the Gen 4 entry blank for some of these as a way of telling people who are choosing not to use Genesis 2 that "this, this right here, this is exactly what you are missing out on."

The one where Jayden first appeared was the first Gentleman's Wardrobe. His shape is seen in the second promo render.
And yes, I do think it was after M6 that the Compatibility Matrix came out. It had to have been if Jayden was the teased character in it.

Lee was very obviously taken / inspired from Bruce Lee. He has a lot of Bruce's look to him.
I'm going to guess that Mei Lin will also be inspired by an actress that is known to Americans.
So likely candidates would be Michelle Yeoh or Zhang Ziyi - as the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is still the most successful Chinese cast film in the west.
Of those, Ms. Ziyi is the more obvious choice due to her age at the time - even if Yeoh is the more famous actress.
The other obvious choice is Lucy Liu, because she's the American actress of Chinese ancestry that gets cast in every single part ever that has a Chinese woman in it because Hollywood can't seem to find all the Asian people living right down the block from its studios or something... :)

Or they could go one better, and get a regular person to walk into the studio and be a model for a 3D scan - this would have the advantage of fewer chances for 'artistic corrections' to introduce unrealistic flaws.
I used to do that for the Gen 5 characters. I tried to do that again for Gen 6, but no one seemed interested...
I hope the new figure doesn't resemble 'anyone we know', IE an actor, or what not.
In general I want base figures to either be highly versatile (As v6 is, not so much m6).
Or Very different than what is presently on the market.

Well, there's a person who will gladly sponsor something and take part as time allows. Why don't we try it? If you happen to be the only person entering, you will get Mayflower anyway.
Edit: Sorry Just realized it is Mei Lin not Mei Yin sorry. Just Mei Yin Comes up when you search for Mei Lin. I Do think that Mei Lin will look similar to Mei Yin just updated.
Mei Yin and Mei Lin, in the original Chinese - are actually the same name. L and Y don't exist in the far east Asian languages - but a sound that is kind of somewhere in between them and R and 'silent'.
I hope its not that though - that old character just looks odd to me personally. But that's probably the issue of morphing off of V4. V4 to me has always looked extremely 'germanic', and that's very different from Chinese. A morph from one of those to the other probably stretches the limits.
I think they will sculpt her face in Hexagon, Blender or Zbrush anyway instead of using dials, so don't worry about V4 features.

Actually, DAZ usually cranks out the major characters third week into the month, usually on a Tuesday like this. If she was to have been released today, she would have been out midnight, DAZ time.
Oh well, at least none of us are seeing anything pop-up about a Gen 7 yet, either, and very much so to my preference. We're still need dire need of a male invasion! ;)

I confess I really hope the next figure is male. I've been waiting for Freak 6 for some time. While I will most likely buy Mei Linn, assuming she is an adult female, we've had a run on female characters lately.

Honestly, I'm just surprised that after all this time, especially with almost a whopping 14 characters into this, that the ONLY reoccurring male we have is Michael. You would think we'd at the very least see either Freak or Hiro by now, especially where we need to start filling in the Fantasy/Sci-Fi and Stylized niches for G2M.
Although, with the all the Real World characters dominating the runway this generation, I'm just as surprised that we're not seeing anything on David yet, as well. Enough time has certainly passed for another version of him, and this is especially so where the poor guy got screwed-over last time coming out last minute at the end of G1's reign.
David 6 would be awesome.
Still waiting for the chest fix to handled the extra cleavage in the gen 6 male line though. Still a big issue for me. Fortunately, david isn't usually ultra buff so this isn't as big an issue for his character... but seriously....
