Well, if it's a non-humanoid creature, I'd be all for supporting that. :) I truly love how versatile the HD Creature Creator sets are, but they are, nevertheless, restricted by making slight cosmetic changes to a pre-existing humanoid body type (and, sadly, it didn't include a tail which can be morphed to the same extent as Dragon 3's has been - or include any non-furry textures for it).
Soem of you might remember that we had the amazing 'Spore', from Electronic Arts, a fair few years ago... The game portion was mediocre (except for that initial aquatic stage, which was quite fun and I wish had lasted longer), but the section where you could effectively 'gloop out' a creature of your imagination from what was effectively a ball of clay, in the most user-friendly way possible? Everyone I know was amazed by how inspiring that was.
You could make it as slender or fat in as many sections as you liked, give it as many limbs as you liked in whatever configurations you liked. You added as many tremendously diverse sets of hands, feet, mouths and eyes, as you wanted to. Then you took it to a really simple, yet effective, screen where you could paint the resulting creature - all done symmetrically. No need to fiddle around with things like textures and UV sets in Photoshop (a process I still can't get my head around). And even just adding another vertebrae or limb meant the entire construction was auto-rigged in an instant!
That was just an initial stage for a relatively simplistic game, from several years ago, yet we still have no equivalent for creating strange and amazing creatures and one-click exporting them over to Daz Studio in such a refreshingly user-friendly way.
Now, I know of one vendor who's said they're in the midst of a mechanoid construction kit. If it's anything like I hope it is, it'll presumably mean a selection of robotic 'bodies', limbs and so forth, which are designed to smart-prop to specific, pre-designated points, allowing us to mix-and-match to our heart's content. I mentioned a similar concept, a while back, to Kibarreto, to allow people to create their own planes/spacecraft and they said it was an intriguing concept, but were in the middle of too many other projects to investigate its possibilities. So... If this robotics construction kit is along those lines, it's my hope that it might inspire someone (JoLab, maybe) to do something similar for creating our own organic creatures.
Imagine if we had the ability, as artists, to create our own mechanoids, vehicles and, ultimately, creatures, by selecting what we need from a diverse range of parts. Stonemason's proven how tremendously powerful this concept is with their Modular Sci-Fi Kit, which allows us to mix-and-match various different types of floors/walls/ceilings/pillars, to create unique futuristic sets.
I'm of the firm belief that this is the next big step in unleashing artistic creativity in Daz Studio. Right now, as amazing as the products on offer are, we, as artists, are constrained by what the vendors can provide for us. When we can mix-and-match dozens or even hundreds of smart-propped components, to create our own, relatively unique assets, there'll be a truly huge surge of creativity.
At least, unless Daz gets around to making Hexagon universally stable, again... ;)
I like both non-human and humanoid aliens. So I think both can be represented. Many of the popular female and male characters in sci-fi have been of the humanoid variety. So would be nice to see some alien skins which can be used to make some figures who aren't typically Caucasian females.
