I looked at Crazy Deal #10...not so crazy. I have everything in it already, from previous sales. The PC anniversary was not such a fun party for me this year. Come to think of it, it wasn't anything special last year, either. That mega bundle we got at the beginning for free was the best thing so far. I got a couple of things, but almost nothing.

They didn't even do the voting thing this year. Oh, well.

...for me a number of the deals were great as I have been so broke for so long I had to let lot of things go by. If I can get at 8$ worth of items I don't have (and can use) for 3$, that makes it worth it.

Those items were on sale long before you lost your job, though. I figured if you wanted them you'd have purchased them at that time. I guess I was wrong.

...before I lost my job I was socking away money for the workstation build as well as trying to build as much of a savings cushion I could, just in case the recession really turned sour. The company I was working for was continually downsizing to cut costs and we went from about 70 employees to just over 30 during the years prior to when I and several others were laid off. For two years there wasn't a day that I walked into work when I didn't expect to hear "we're letting you, so & so, and so & so go", as Oregon is an "At Will" employment state. Not a good cloud to have hanging over your head day after day. Hence any purchases I was making t the time, had to be necessary for the 3D/story work I was doing, much of which in the end were mainly merchant resources like morph and texture kits.

Yeah, I missed out on a lot of neat items and I'm happy now that I have a bit of cashflow that some of them were bundled together at ridiculously low prices. Managed to even to hit a "Glitch price" for once. There's still a lot of stuff on my wishlist form years ago as well.

Been playing Mario Kart 8. Actually pretty fun, nice graphics too. Think I'll get the Wind Waker port next :)

I actually kinda like the Wii U. Sure it's got a silly sounding name, but it's actually a fairly nice console. I didn't much like the original Wii and stubbornly insisted on using the Gamecube controllers over the Wii Remote, but I actually am pretty fond of the Game Pad the Wii U comes with. Pretty fun to use actually and it's really nice to just be reclining on the couch with the game in my hand like that, especially with how my living room is set up. Not always comfortable to be sitting close to the TV (I actually have to be far from it and strain my eyes, or be up close and not only risk knocking things off the shelf, but also be in the way so people can't easily get by >< )

I've gotten a bit more used to the Wii Remote now - it's not terrible, but I still prefer an actual controller for playing Super Smash Brothers hehe

Hehe thought the wii u was for leaping around exercise not couch surfing

..back on the workstation. some stupid process keeps interfering with me on the notebook hammering the HD constantly. Looked at Windows Task Manager and I'll be dipped if I can understand what half that stuff means in the processes tab.

When I did a restart the system hung up and wouldn't shut down. Had to hold the start button down to get it to turn off after which I waited a few minutes and started it up again.

After it came back up and I opened FF up I got a screen that says Thank you for Choosing Firefox" and a pop up that says "see what's new". which means FF updated to the latest version by itself without giving me the chance to say whether I wanted it to or not. I have "auto update" set to notify me any time there is an update first rather than just launch the update. This was slipped right by me. >:(

So basically I pretty much have to spend time updating/reactivating all my add ons, plugins, and toolbars again (provided they are not labelled as "obsolete") which is why I don't like updating to the latest FF in the first place and usually stay a version or two behind. >:-(

Also had to not only log on to my email again (never had to do that for a long time) but had to go through the whole sign in mess on the forums again (and now the password, which I do not remember, didn't populate). Had to close and reopen the tab to get it to show after which I was of course sent to my account page. Once again when I go back to the email and click on the link to the thread, I find I am logged out, so I have to manually navigate to the post from the account page which is a total PITA! On top of this, last night I added the PC Crazy Deal #10 to my cart, but after finally getting the login to work, when I go to my cart it says "shopping cart is empty". >:-( >:-(

This update has been nothing short of a train wreck involving tanker cars carrying the most hazardous materials imaginable.

    ...guess that's my Monday complaint. >:-( >:-( >:-( >:-(

I have to animate a train wreck sometime over the next few weeks it might be fun to incluse an "updates are ready to install" screen somewhere in that

Interesting observation in the thread below. Maybe I'll put off any more purchases for now. (so much for some pretty hair and the Geisha Builder as the Mei Lin Geisha Makeup definitely does not wok without the character figure).

...yeh kinda scary.. Not seeing it at all on my end on the cart page, login page, store page, account page, or order processing pages. Fortunately I don't have my card information saved.

Don't see it over on Rendo either.

Most 3D sites make very little use of SSL. It's a bad practice. As a developer I've read articles that make it obvious that it's a bad thing to start with a plain text page (http:) and move to a secured page for logging in, viewing cart/checking out, etc. It opens you to the possibility of a man-in-the-middle attack. It's not just 3D sites, either. A lot of online commerce sites do it that way. It's disturbing. I think it was mainly a concern about bandwidth. But those concerns are not so important these days. Security is much more important, but they're not catching on quickly enough.

Halo: Nightfall, first live-action Halo animation since 'Forward Unto Dawn'.... And is directed by the same person who worked on the Alien series? :)

I've never seen Alien or the Prometheus film, but I've heard quite a few people say parts of it resembled them?

Complaint: at home with some kind of stomach flu thing.

Non-complaint: can download the new DS and play with it when I'm not in bed sick! :cheese:

Gotta make lemonade out of the lemons Life hands you... :shut:

Woohoo, thanks to KKs suggestion I have COFFEE! :cheese: If I hadn't bought all this stuff from Seattle Coffee Gear, I'd be coffee-less.. it's 34F outside and the closest place for coffee is McDonalds, 1/2 a mile away. :blank: The way my guts are churning, I'd never make it...

But here I sit, sipping Twilight Blend.. makes me feel a bit less miserable.. :)
