Wow. Just wow. I'm just stunned.

You don't want the pass, then don't buy it. The only thing you are really losing is the access to a potential discount. Not a substantial discount, just a potential discount.

I could understand the concern if the next five figures were only available to those who bought the pass. They're not saying that. No one is removing the ability to purchase the figures individually.

All this is is a prepurchase to the next five figures. Other than a few bells and whistles, there's nothing that can't purchased when you do see what they are. The lesson says it will be available, the contest is open to everyone, the bonuses say nothing about being exclusive.

All this hate and discontent seems wildly disproportionate to what amounts to no more than another sale.

Personally I am glad that the incentives are no longer a page full of bundles that I already own.

It's a forum. It's where we discuss and rant and brag and complain and ask and wine...

also a completly irrelevant point but everyone was mentioning lootboxes - what does it say about me that my first thought for a comparison was
    CSAs?

Which CSA do you mean?  smiley

    Community Supported Agriculture.

     there are actually 2 types

the more common type 1: pay a farmer and then go pick up a box of whatever veg they decide give you once a week

the other type: give a farmer $500 have 550 credit you can use to purchace whatever you feel like

this lines up pretty well with this new season pass and gift cards funnily enough

(despite type 1 being more common for whatever reason right in my area there are a bunch of the second type, I have credit at 3 different local farms, but where I previously lived I subscribed to the box type)

I am a big fan boxes of loot provided that the loot is edible.

I would totally purchase a Stonemason CSA share!!!

I've just been thinking. If Daz wanted to kick out the low end users, why did they come up with Filament?

Which perhaps indicates that Daz didn't want to kick anyone out. Not every offer has to work for everyone.

What's the benefit in coming up with an offer that will only be interesting to a few customers? If a company wants to make money, it would make more sense to entice more users. The Bridge ideas were good for pulling in other software users. The interactive licences were good for game developers.

Season Pass: I prefer buying a gift card at a discount price and buying what I want.

There is no possibility of them every having a deal that pleases everyone. They could make the whole store free for a week and people would come here and complain about how their download speeds are too slow. So, sometimes, they will have offers that not everyone wants to take advantage of.

Well... Considering how much I spent on Daz last month, calculating it now, the season pass is a good deal on the face of it.

I'm leaning towards getting it, but if there are going to be 6 season passes in a year, then I'm likely out.

Of course, since they're calling it the "Spring" season pass, I guess there should be 4 per year, but who knows?

The only reason I'm thinking of getting it is FOMO, though...

If you are new to the Daz Store and Daz products, you may think it's a great deal. But if you've been here a while, you know almost EVERYTHING goes on sale at very low prices at the end of the year.

Well, reason I might get the pass would be FOMO (fear of missing out). But since I skipped the last two bundles due to - IMO - unattractive extra discounts for already owned things I guess I will also skip this pass. Can always go for the next one if this one turns out to be a good deal. Interested to learn from pass holders what discounts they will get on upcoming bundles.

Again, what will you miss out on? Nothing will go away. Oh sure they vaulted some stuff lately but that was stuff that mostly dates back to 2000. And if they're anything like Disney, the Vault just means you can't have it right now. Next year they'll probably have a "The Vault is Open for 1 Day Only" sale.

The only thing absolutely exclusive to Season Pass purchasers will be the forum badges.  Everything else will be available for purchase by mere customers.

All this talk had me going back over what I've bought over the last few years. I'm semi-shocked to discover I've already purchased sixty of the XXX 8 Pro bundles, paying as much as $49.60 for Zelara bundle, and as little as $8.27 for The Brurte. But looking at those purchases I find most of them were not bought for the figure – or at least not mainly for the figure – but what outfits and hair looked interesting/useful. Bundles with lots of useful things got grabbed when they came out, but a lot of my collection was only added on what I considered a great deal/sale (like buying a whole bundle costing me less than one outfit? Sure – why not? ;-) )

Which means if I have to I’ll simply wait for the sales later in the year, lone random figures/HDs without useful bundles are a bit too much hit-n-miss for me.

I have pretty mixed feelings about this, I can't shake off the thought that this makes the Platinum experience even less special than it already was. Sure, the discounts are a nice thing to have, but the freebies which are being promised are near to non-existent when it comes to usability. So if I keep that experience into mind then I cannot help share some serious doubts about the usefullness of all this.

Essentially we're buying into something up front without even knowing what it is we'll be getting. And since the PC+ freebies are more than often relying on other products I can't help fear that this season pass will only polute our libraries by adding stuff which we might not be able to use because it relies on something else.

At this point in time I'm even beginning to wonder if I still want to continue being a PC+ member. We're obviously not very appreciated by Daz anymore; why didn't PC+ member ever get something to stand out? You claim that you want to "thank" the community, so why not award PC+ members based on the length of their membership with a little extra? You know.. those people who actually stood by you through the years?

Nah, instead you use the PC+ approach to try and sell us even more stuff but now without bothering to tell us what we'll get. Paying $149 for a mystery "surprise"? You have got to be kidding me...

@ShelLuser: If you look at it closely, you are buying a pig in a poke even with PC+. You don't know what you'll be offered during the course of your membership. But it doesn't bother us because the price is much lower.

I see the Season Pass as something similar or an expansion - what bothers me the most is the short duration of validity for the high price. The fact that you have no right of return also bothers me. The Genesis 8.1 characters released so far haven't convinced me either. Too much toon, too little character.

I've been a member of PC+ since 2012 or so, and even though the freebies have taken a dip lately, the membership has really been worth it for me so far. If you ignore the fact that you often buy significantly more as a PC+ member....  ;-) But that's up to you.

But if the prices for the PC+ articles continue to rise like this, it's over for me with the membership. By the way: I haven't seen a freebie yet that required another product. Can you give me an example, please?

I think ShelLuser might mean the (theoretically) Biweekly Freebies instead of the Weekly/Monthly PC+ Freebies. A lot of times gen4/G1/G2 outfit textures (but not the base outfit) are on offer as Biweekly Freebies.

As far as the Season Pass is concerned, even if I had the money right now, I wouldn't go for it, because I am not the type of buyer this deal is aimed at, and wouldn't be even if I primarily used G8. I don't buy all the base/core figures upon release, and never did. I wait until a really, really good sale and usually not even then if it's a G8, unless it's really different from anything in my G3 and earlier collection - and it still has to be a good deal. Even if I used G8 a lot and bought core figures right away,I'd still pass because I wouldn't want to risk the free cores being 8.1 only, since I'm only using DS 4.11 & 4.12beta, because I doubt I my computer is up to the later versions.

Well, as a PC+ member, I'm not all that fussed about the PC+ stuff.  Although a lot of the items, like the Jack Tomalin Iray add-ons are very nice, they were never the main attraction for me.  We make our money back with the coupons, and the discount on Daz Originals makes it even more worthwhile.

Just joined the 'Loot Squad'...  these better be good and hopefully most will be female characters.  Dont really buy the male ones as they are not appealing.

Well that's the thing, how are you going to select 5 figures that appeal to everyone?

They could easily select 5 figures that would appeal to me by making them all 1) quality skins, 2) non-stylistic adults, 3) at least one male, preferably two or more, 4) different personality types from what's gone before.

Or if one or more were of the August 8.1 two-in-one variety.

I never thought of sometning like that being included.

Thats the last thing I need or want.

Thanks for making my mind up for me. LOL

    Pass on the pass

I've bought 1000 wonderful things from the PC+ program - GIS, all the great models from Petipet, Merlin, Ravenhair, Valandar, and of course Jack Tomalin, just to name a few. After all, that's the strength of PC+: it offers something in every direction; models and textures, coupons, freebies, discounts etc. And that's how it should stay.

I wonder if your debit card or bank are having the issue with the store as I only use my debit card and have never had a problem.

Not sure how people are comparing this to PC+. PC+ is GREAT!  $12 in coupons you can use on products you WANT (within boundaries) pays for itself, the freebies are usually usable by anyone (I love this month's sunflowers and spray paint!) and who can't use plants or trees? Plus those amazing PC for a day sales! Even if I stop buying characters because I don'tlike G8.1, I will always continue with PC+ as long as it stays as is.

Indeed. Not sure if we are allowed to show stuff, I imagine it shouldn't  be a problem since it might actually help convincing some people that are on the fence about getting the pass. But yeah, as Jack Tomalin said, free items definitely not just some shrubs. If we can show the stuff I can show some renders of the first free item when I'm done downloading (my internet sucks), since imho, the pass is only really worth it at platinum.

Wherever you get extensions for your browser.  Search for "Daz Deals".

I think the whole point of this marketing stunt was to entice us and make us want to get it, so what is it?
