Contest theme is up for super-special people (i.e. the SP elites, LOL).

"She is a freedom-loving young woman
exploring the world and finding herself."

"Entries will be judged by Daz employees and will be based on lighting, texture, creativity, and the young, free-spirited theme."

Rules say to EMAIL this time since the "seasonpass" category was a problem last time.

    1. Use the Daz character Jacqueline 8.1 to create a new static render not previously posted or shared that relates to the theme of a “freedom-loving young woman exploring the world and her inner spirit” — showcasing inner exploration and self-awareness.
    2. E-mail your submission to “[email protected]” in .jpg format.

    https://www.daz3d.com/official-contest-rules

    EDIT:

Whoops! End date is May 4.

"Contest Period: Entries will be accepted by email starting on April 27, 2021, and ending May 4, 2021 at 11:59:59 MT. All online entries must be received by May 4, 2021 011:59:59 p.m. MT."

Not sure what you mean with locking the aspect ratio o.o

Honestly, if anything I think Daz products have turned down a notch or two the "super sexy" stuff. You only have to see the characters and stuff available for Genesis 2 Female characters. And I say that as someone looking for that stuff. I mean, really, just compare the shapes of G2 characters with their respective G3 and G8 versions if you don't want to go through the clothing. So, imho, the recent "three-dee-pr0n-generator" reputation is most likely just more people finding about Daz than recent trends in content.

@mazinkaiserzero Valid point. I looked through the G2F catalog, and you're right. I think since we had a moment of males being released more regularly, some of us assumed the tide had turned completely. But it's not to be. Re: aspect ratio, if you click Edit on your post, then click the image, the pop-up will give you a dialogue box for inputting the height and width of the image. Since the width must be no larger than 800, if you input a number, there's a lock icon between the height and width which is either locked or unlocked. If you lock it, then the image will retain its original aspect (height to width proportions).

I like her skin (other than the @%#*! nasolabial creases). Thanks for the renders @mazinkaiserzero! Please lock the aspect ratio on your closeup so her head won't be narrowed.

MAYBE Daz is trying to make money, and the people who make decisions have decided to capitalize everything. It's clear there's a new sheriff in town. When someone tells you who they are; believe them.

It's not about locking the ratio, it's about making the width no larger than 800.

Oooh, I see, I thought it was something to do when rendering it. Didn't even notice it has a hard cap of 800 here xD. Fixing it, thanks for the tip yes

About the bundle... eeh... so far it seems like the SP was the right choice for me, so far not really interested in them so I don't mind the discount being that bad. I mean, I think that's the whole point of the SP. I'd say the only thing I liked in the bundle was the hippy clothes and the diner, but it's more like... if I see them very cheap I might get them rather than hunt them when they are on sale. Also, the Bunny something outfit, liked the overall idea but not the execution. I'm not a clothing guru so correct me if I'm wrong but... a shirt with the seam in the middle of the back? Really? Also, not fond of clothing without promos showing more range of motion.

She's not a bad looking character, tho I'm not sure if she has a big head or her shoulders are too narrow. One of the two ;). My biggest complaint is that the Daz store is turning into another T&A festival. I put up with it for 22 years. I don't have enough years left to put up with it again ;).

...well, so far not been very impressed with the DS pass offerings given the cost of the pass. I am not much into modern architecture (freebie #1), and the dress looks like something I could have made in MD3.  While I sort of liked Brooke, admittedly the two figures offered so far are still rather unremarkable, plus so far, they are G8.1, not even G8 (and I have yet to buy into G8 very much save for a few of the more "normal" looking characters).

I don't think there will be any G8 in the season pass(es), given that they would be core figures.

Does the "not previously posted" portion of the contest rules mean that we can't see the contest submissions in the forums or gallery? That would suck.

As for the new character, I'm glad her skin is looking better than Brooke's. Her marketing makes more sense and people seem to like her appearance. I was just really hoping for a guy. Maybe next time?

So 43$ for the new bundle when SP member? Mmmmh sad

I also love the "Get $ 25.- worth of DAZ Original items for FREE" part, when each category has only a handfull of (mostly old... quite old...) items with a price of below $ 5.- in it... So to get those $ 25.- FREE one not only has to invest the money for the bundle (which would be okay-ish) but put in even more $$.

Nice try, really nice try... for me it is a fail though..

I like the character and the two outfits and hair, but don’t need the rest but the price is ridiculous! We used to get what was it, 11, 13? items plus a whole bunch of freebies, sometimes hundreds of dollars worth, and the bundle would come to $28-$38 in the cart with an orange banner (that I no longer get.) With these prices no wonder people aren’t buying bundles anymore and they had to do the season’s pass to insure sales I guess. Although I do really like this character, for $22 I could get four similar Mousso DazO’s when they are on sale that are just as nice and have HD included.

It was similar with Brooke's bundle. You had to buy the bundle and 2 more add-ons to get some extra discount. The HD add-on didn't count.

I can see only this "Get $5 worth* of Select Daz Originals for FREE from each of the following categories when you buy the Jacqueline 8.1 Undercover Retro Bundle" with no extra discount when buying more add-ons mentioned. Not it would make it any more attractive anyway.

Ah, those days of old, when investing ~ $ 35.- not only got you a Pro bundle, but additional stuff worth $ 25.- each from different categories... and maybe some G3 Pro packs thrown in... Those offers even managed to make me swallow the toad of half the items in the pro pack being of no use for me...

Okay, life is easier and cheaper nowadays. The new system makes it easier to not spending any money at all... devil

What I meant with similar was that you had to buy/spend more.

I think you had to spend $50 to get additional discount. If you weren't a Pass holder just buying the bundle was enough. But if you were a holder you had to buy the bundle +2 add-ons. The HD add-on not counting was not ok, since it wasn't a freebie, but a purchase (just made 2 weeks earlier)

Soo 40% of the "season pass" characters released and 0% that I'm interested in. An person with a cartoonish face and someone who I'm sure is just one of the women from another bundle, along with the usual slightly odd looking "HD" details. Never really got why the "official" base characters are 2-3x the price of the characters by other vendors (that often include the "HD"), it's not like they're any better or have 2-3x the content.

I'm currently not really going to be buying anything until the "NFT" junk is removed from the header at the top, but it was a sound non investment regardless, as I've already crossed the point of getting a "return" (you basically have to like 4/5 characters). So that's one good thing I guess.

Now randomly, I still never really get the thing about the constant "sexy" clothing and "skimp wear" and "ankle breaking stilettos with every outfit". Pretty much everything "sexy" here in at least the last few years is very tame. Generally "granny pants" and low heels so doesn't seem an actual issue based on the actual content. I mean, when was the last "thong" you saw? All the underwear covers pretty much the entire bottom. I own several sets of heels higher than anything on the store (though the type I like are thicker, you pretty much never see that style here unfortunately), and see people wearing "too hot for DAZ" things fairly often. Dresses pretty much never show any back, or even legs. So it's confusing where this "constant skimp wear and high heels" argument even comes from, unless it's talking exclusively about the pre 3 or 8 generation or something?

I just got a banner offering me the Silver pass for $149.  If I wasn't interested in it as Platinum, I'm probably not interested in it as Silver.  (And given the offerings so far, all I'm interested in is a Hard pass.)

I don't blame DAZ for raising the cost of the bundles a bit, or chopping an item out, because there's this funny thing called inflation.  On the other hand, significantly raising the price AND chopping several items out at the same time seems excessive.

  • Have the same offer and the pass currently in cart. Will wait and see if they drop the second bundle tomorrow or not. But I guess I won't go for it. Those price increases make me picky so I guess I will probably only get the CB outfit and wait once those figures and bundles get cheaper after the pass thing.

Well, if they follow recent patterns we will probably not see th second bundle until Friday.

Right... orange banners for me: 25% for being SP simp, and 10% for the Brooke Marksman bundle. So the bundle is in my cart at $39.02.

So, since you already own (and paid) for character that means $39.02 for 6 items. 2 of those (1/3) are poses? over $6.5 per item. Ouch!....really OUCH!

Last year with Pro bundles, addons and loyalty you could get practically half that cost per item including the base figure. And of course much better perks.

Yeah, I did the math and the four items themselves come out to be 45 bucks, and with the SP discount the bundle is 43 bucks. So basically you're paying for all the items to get two pose packs for free. They're nice pose packs though, but not enough of an incentive for a freebie. I'll be passing on the bundle.

For a $150 buy-in I would expect the discounts on the bundles to be substantial, but it seems no better / even worse than the orange banners we used to get. And those banners were the result of buying merchandise that we got to choose what we want -_- Defnitely not regretting saving my money.

I’m thinking Daz may be marketing to newer adopters. I bet this bundle will sell well because she is pretty and newbies will not know about the great deals we use to have on pro bundles and they will be happy to get $5.00 off old content that those of us who have been around a while have already picked through ad nauseum. I’m thinking their target market is changing as “old timers” start buying less because we a) already own so much and b) we remember the good old days of great deals and hold off to buy anything until it’s like 70% off or an amazing deal.  Newer Daz customers are probably happy to pay the higher prices and I really think Jacqueline will do well. I stopped getting orange banners a while ago (except discounts for what I already owned) so I think I’m just an afterthought to Daz marketing. They are fazing me out as I faze them out...

I can't say on that, I do know it has me less likely to buy than I would have been.  Normally I would be all over some of this stuff, at this point it's like, "meh, it can wait for 50% off"  To be fair though, April/May is usually pretty slow around DAZ land no matter what the year.  But all things being equall I would have normally jumped on that Jaqueline bundle.  Or Pretty 3D's business woman outfit.  Or the two Aeon Soul products that came out recently.  But with DAZ marketing pointing somewhere other than me I didn't.  I'm just not being inspired to spend money here right now.

I noticed Saturday the tutorial is happening but I'm going to be out of town actually. The one weekend I'm gone out of the entire past year has to be this one. Could Richard or someone from Daz please find out if it'll be able to view at a later time like Monday morning? I hope I'm not going to miss out on this as it was something that was enticing to get the season pass. Thanks so much if you're able to take the time to look into it, I appreciate it.

I asked something similar here around the time the season pass started and never got an answer. IIRC it says Silver pass gets a recording instead of a ticket for the live webinar so I asked if Platinum and Gold could watch it later too because my internet is pretty horrible to watch live streams during most of the day.

Btw, it says it's a 3 point lighting tutorial from WP Guru, which is nice, but yeah, unless you are still a bit of a newbie it's not a big miss. I still like to always watch and read as much as I can, might find a new tip or two, but I don't expect to get anything big from that. Still, I'm very glad it's WP Guru and not Dreamlight, heh.

Also, again, I don't think the SP was meant to get the core figures and then get the bundles at super low prices, it has been said from the beginning (iirc) that it's meant for those of us interested in getting the core figures. I completely agree that bundles are now a very bad deal, not only they are pricier, they have less stuff. Basically, they now split what used to be a Pro Bundle in 2 and charge the same for both, giving insignificant discounts if you buy both. Like someone said, dudes, I understand inflation is a thing, but that seems a bit too much. Hence why I got the pass and so far I'm happy. For me the discount on the bundles for getting the SP it's just something extra if they manage to put together a bundle I actually like, which seems unlikely.

Yeah, I learned 3 point lighting fifteen years ago in film school so I'm going in hoping to learn some tip about Daz that I might not know about that can make my workflow much better. It seems like every tutorial I watch, I see something new I didn't know existed that I say no kidding? I wish I knew that before! Like I saw some tutorial a month ago about something that I already knew how to do and the guy showed that at the bottom of the timeline, there's an arrow you can drag to shorten the frames shown. Four years and I've never noticed that little arrow! It has made my animation workflow so much faster already. So yeah, just going in to hopefully get something neat like that.

But if it says silver folks get a recording, then I'll be happy if I can just get that and watch it Monday or Tuesday at my convenience. Hopefully for yoru sake as well if your internet doesn't do the livestream stuff well.

Yup. The high bundle prices are the best reason to buy the SP---as long as you would have bought the characters anyway---they make the pass worth the money. And as long as the SP bundle discount remains negligible, the rationale remains valid. The Season Pass itself is tantamount to an acknowledgment that the bundles and their deals are not going to be enticing, but here's a 26% discount on the debut price for a corebasefigurecharacter & HD for those of you who buy them all.

In the email about the contest, Daz said, "We are amazed at how many submissions we had to our first Season Pass contest," which made me think, "26 is amazing?" But I see how that can be meant a different way: "Only 26? I'm amazed!"
