Now I remember my comment about Melbourne, Victoria. I was looking for a beach has a Metropolitan Tram stop. I found a beach called Saint Kilda. I saw some photos of the beach: the beach has waves. Cool.

I lived for a couple decades in Melbourne, Florida (USA) which is on the Atlantic Ocean and very near Cocoa Beach where they have a surfing contest each year. However, I believe that on the day of the surfing contest it is traditional that there be no waves. :shut: I've gone to Cocoa Beach to watch the contest or to Melbourne Beach just to enjoy a day at the beach and frolic in the waves and if you look carefully a little three inch ripple will come in and tickle your toes. And the surfers are out there dutifully dangling their legs over their boards like so much shark bait hoping against hope for a rogue wave. If one comes, the lucky surfer who sees it and catches it will be the winner because there won't be another before dark. :smirk: So, I certainly understand the possibility of an ocean beach without waves.

However, I do have to admit that I have seen the waves at Melbourne Beach destroy the beautiful sand beach and scrub it down to the rock base and wash structures into oblivion. :bug:

I have also seen the "Indian River" lagoon that separates the barrier island from the mainland in that area of the Florida east coast to have waves big enough to surf. The river is 1 to 2 miles wide near Melbourne and when hurricane winds come from the east it kicks up really substantial waves. What is normally a sedate slow moving almost lake-like river becomes a small ocean with 5 foot waves crashing onto the mainland. :coolcheese:

I just didn't expect Port Phillip Bay to have waves. Then again, I wonder if the Chesapeake bay has waves. I should go look for some photos of North Beach in Maryland later. Thanks for the comments. I'm going to bed now.

edit: Uh.. I should look for photos Sandy Point State Park instead of North Beach.

Yeah sinus headaches are a drag.. As it's been so dry here for so long not been they have thankfully not been an issue, but then there's allergies (ragweed pollen has been pretty bad this year).

Got some possible 3D commission work from a friend who is involved in the "Shadowrun Missions" project. Will be working a couple character drafts up tonight.

Two months to go before I have to move out and still not finding anything remotely affordable even for a studio flat. Crikey, need a 40,000$+ a year salary to afford to live here.

Dsmn, man, sorry to hear. That reall sucks.

Praying for you, for what it's worth... :red:

    ..thank you.

Well one bit of good news. the payments I was waiting for finally rolled in and I'm back on line from home again so at least it will be a lot easier to look for commissions and do my rental search.

Still unable to do much rendering as it's been just too bloody hot. After midnight and still close to 80 out. Hit 99 today.

+1 am lucky to get regular work but I think everyone is getting squeezed by the great upheaval in media companies, we all seem to be hanging on by fingernails, competition is fierce and even the big players don't seem to be competitive any more

Most beaches have waves. Well, unless your beach is at a pond or lake. Being on the east coast, when I think beach, I think ocean. But I realized there are beaches not at the ocean, like Echo Lake in No. Conway, New Hampshire.

Saint Kilda Beach is n the Bay behind a breakwater and pier but yes, in principle there are waves. And trams. And a marina. If you want waves you need to go to Bell's beach, those are what we call waves here

gonna have to sock my next few paydays away for a tooth extraction. can't imagine what it'll cost at the end, thousands of dollars?

done with packing routers for the day.
back to Excel for a couple hours.
i programmed a sort button, but excel crashed when the rows are filtered. need to figure out what's up with that

Last tooth I had yanked cost me $250, but that was 5 years ago.. no idea now.

    Poor you...

    Sure Happy It's Thursday :blank:

Still setting up all my dev tools on this machine.. total PITA, re-licensing everything.. blech.. :shut:

Almost everything installed at home, looking good for doing some recording this week. I'm going to set up my old laptop as a software development system for game creation, so some of this weekend I'll be cleaning it up and getting it ready for work.

Submitted for one job in Erie, PA. and another one in Chicago. Both cold places but both have great mass transit systems. I'd prefer the Erie job because it's a year contract, AND close to Philly, so I could go check out some of the places I've heard about for killer food!

    Come on three day weekend!!!

When it's this hot, only a "Slurpee Margarita" will do. Fortunately there is a pub nearby that has them.
