It's a bit barren, but the lighting is nice!

Hey thanks, practicing dark-ing rather than lighting I think

Can't determine what I wanna do. My back is hurting so I have the heating pad on but it is overheating me so do I take it off or leave on. Heat is the only thing that helps along with a lot of meds and alcohol. Separately, not together but tempting

    ...ugh no good.

Nah, don't mix booze and meds, especially if they are of the strong prescription Variety. Also, alcohol and any form of Acetaminophen are a double whammy on the liver (which is why I'm surprised they put both in those nighttime cold medicines, that's why I use Theraflu™ instead.).

had an idea to get a few hours sleep before the neighbohood starts with the fire crackers. but some kind of game is on hollering from upstairs. sounds like some kind of game involving a ball.

...can't be the Women's World Cup Final, that is tomorrow - US vs. Japan 7 PM EDT.

Could have been the Mens "Freindly" match that pits US against Guatemala (US won 4 - 0) which is a prelim for the Gold Cup tournament.

Or maybe just rabid Yankees fans (who also won 3 - 2)

...OK end of thread spam. Knocked off for an afternoon nap (that ended up longer than usual) as the heat really got to me.yesterday and wasn't feeling all that good last night and this morning. Was around 99° in the part of town where I was running errands Did manage to replenish the Potato Wodka supply though as well as a bug jug of cranberry juice and get a new phone minuted card as I was down to about three minutes of time left.

May need to crack that bottle of Wodka open later tonight after I get back from the fireworks.

This is the story of a time long ago, A time of myth and legend
ancient gods were petty and cruel, and they plagued mankind with suffering
Hercules possessed a strength the world had never seen, a strength surpassed only by the power of his heart
    du duhuduhduhdundun

ohhh never occurred to me the singing in Xena wuz real words

The lyrics, chanted in the Bulgarian language, are:

    Jenata iazdi samotna
    Neinoto minalo srazi ia
    Sreshtu voiskite ot tumen sviat
    Vouva za dobra tia

    Rogovi zvunove idvat
    Napriate put na voina!
    Tupani biat vuv ritum
    Princhesata a pak tuka!

These translate into the English language as:

    The Warrior Princess rides alone.
Her past drives her from shame.
Against the forces of a dark world
She fights for good, not for fame.

Horns sound her coming, blare her name.
    Make way the Warrior! Cheer!
    Drums beat a rhythm
    Let villains beware
    The Warrior Princess is here!

In a time of ancient gods, warlords and kings...
A land in turmoil cried out for a hero.
She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle.
    The power...the passion...the danger.
Her courage will change the world.

looking abstract. :) i see clothes hangars

Was feeling more than a little abstract yesterday :) Am getting some practise on big setups > 1 Km, they take a fair bit of setup and I don't usually have the attention span for it, trying for discipline

    the establishing shot?

fun is the pull back and it's not what you'd expect
    labyrinth movie comes to mind

Think I"m looking for ways to be decorative rather than relying on a script to do the heavy lifting, storylining is entirely valid and yes yay for reveals/reverses, but I guess I'm interested in getting a grip on the arrangement of three-D elements in extended patterns (for want of a better word) that combine and recombine with a point of view in ways which are pleasing to the eye; a kind of virtual reality aesthetic which doesn't have to reflect anything seen naturally but which nevertheless seems natural and pleasing to the eye :)

I thought you'd like that. Too bad it's OBJ format, and not rigged like Ness' Harpsichord.

...but for a lot of scenes it will be perfect. Saves me having to pay Turbosquid 125$ for the Kawai grand which also is an unrigged .obj (the only other format available is MAX which is proprietary)

...bleedin site software, Had the power go out for a bit. When I restarted, all my tabs came back however the Post Reply button wasn't there. Logged back into the store but still, for some stupid reason I was not also logged into the forums like I should have been. Logging in from a thread still takes one to the account page instead of back to the thread and after clicking on the link in the reminder email again to get back to the thread, the status shows as "logged out".

It has been over three years now and this forums login rubbish still occurs. >:-(

    ...OK that done with...

...well the fireworks show was a pretty good one and longer than the last couple years. Several new types as well. Would love to see some of the Japanese shells someday as their fireworks makers create some very interesting "shaping" of the actual burst as well as ones that use different stages on ascent and timing in the burst. One I saw has a colour shift that rotates though the full burst and there is even one that looks like a snowflake. One of the ground level effects they have looks like colourful fan unfolding. They also hold fireworks festivals and competitions for new designs and have launched the largest shells ever which are 4 ft in diameter.

This festival show is particularly cool 2 KM wide. In the finale those a 1,200mm shells

    2 KM wide fireworks show

...and this one has some interesting shaped charges and ground effects.

Sun's been up for awhile now, but is struggling to burn through a persistent haze. Smoke from the Saskatchewan wildfires to the west I assume. Every once in a while you get a hint of that on the breeze. Forest fires have a very distinctive smell.

I disagree...I think they add something that makes that particular type of area what it is. Maybe doesn't articulate my meaning.

But it's a ghost town again! With power!

Well, yesterday was a long one for me. Started out with decorating and making this for Diane's birthday. Was devastated to realize that I forgot to dot the i and cross the t in Birthday! :shut:

Edit: That's a 9x13 two-layer cake. Devil's food, strawberry preserves in between the layers, and real whipped cream frosting (homemade). First time I made a 9x13.
