i changed the title of 'a man named lisa' to 'spell caster without a license'.  decided to add squee dragon into the story and the cover.

Crap... I just realized my elbow is pretty swollen, while I was eating lunch...

Last Friday I smashed it into something and it was angry all weekend but for some reason it swelled up today and really hurts when I bend it or look at it.

I'm debating going to my doctor because I'm pretty sure he hates me... I'd go to my friend who is a doctor, but he is an Ob/Gyn... So I don't think I'm properly equipped...

Actually he always offers to help, or tells me I should have gone to an emergency room... I don't like bothering him and everytime I go to an emergency room I come away with an amusing anecdote, that is really not all that amusing to me, but seems amusing to other people...

That and I'm afraid they'll throw a straight jack over me and I'll have to stay there.

Actually they just opened an "Urgent Care Center" near here, but they are too friendly... "Urgent Care" is like a low level emergency room clinic in case you are not familiar with them... Good for sprains, stitches or simple fractures... Not so good for shark bites or helicopter crashes.

The thing that I don't like about the place is it's very pleasent... It's clean and the magazines in the waiting area are new... It has this nice Hamptons Beach look to it too...

    Very disturbing.

I'm used to NYC emergency rooms... If there aren't six cops holding down a bugged out 900 lb sumo wrestler/coke addict, at least three people on line with gunshot wounds or some serious level of bloody drippy bandages or the smell of fresh barf in the air... I feel like it's not a real emergency room.

So far it's only swelled to the size the size of a Hershey Miniature bar... I think if it goes up to a Snickers fun size bar I'll probably go get it looked at.

The thing is if it's not so bad, I'll feel stupid... Especially with my primary care doctor... I could walk in with a knife in my forehead and he'd still ask me "so why are you here today?"...  I feel like nothing impresses him.

Maybe I'll go tomorrow to the urgent care place... To be honest I don't think anyone is really there for anything really urgent anyway... Nobody is ever cursing in ancient Mongolian or moaning in pain... So I probably don't have to really impress them there.

I have no idea why I chose to relate this here... Maybe it's just like I'm thinking out loud... Only I'm typing it quietly.

I want a Hershey fun size snickers bar now... Or maybe seven or eight... They really aren't very much fun at that size.

    Well, later...

But that is a baby pig.  Wait bacon is from baby pigs?

Bacon comes from mature pigs. Mature pigs come from baby pigs.

Next thing I will hear is that chicken sandwiches are not just named after the bird.

No, they are named for their cowardliness. When have you ever seen a chicken sandwich stand up for itself?

I was beaten up by a chicken sandwich once, but that says more about me than it does the sandwich.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure women have elbows, too.

I just noticed that I have been drawing sketches on 24 pound printer (8.5x11 inch) paper.  blush  I should buy some heavier and larger paper from the art supply store.

What is a for profit school and how does that differ from other schools?

  • McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,050

I never looked it up, but from my understanding "for profit" schools tend to be private and not subsidized by state or federal money... Up until you graduate high school the government pay for your schooling... But even colleges get grants and government support. I suppose "for profit" have to earn income from students... It just be a term now... Some do get assistance from government programs for certain GED and job skills classes... I've heard of issues with that system and schools cheating or wasting the money... It might have to do with where your credits count too...

Third worst answer to a question ever... You should probably look it up.

.."for profit" schools are generally privately operated.  For example on the K - 12 level,  EMOs (educational management organizations) are for profit schools which work with Charter schools and school districts but charge tuition and other fees.

On the post secondary (collegiate) level it includes both "brick and mortar" and online schools The most well known include DeVry, University of Phoenix, Kaplan University, The Art Institute of <City>, Concorde Career Colleges, and ITT Technical Institute.

Morning. Feeble winter sun struggling through grey overcast like a rundown torch and finger numbing cool for hands outside of pockets :)

Coffee the only thing keeping me upright today. Stuff goes much slower in cold weather, feels like we been here all day but noooo, a whole half day and a bit to go
