...very vtue about the 2 vs 1 CPU, your single 12 core/24 thread CPU is faster than two 6 core CPUs even at the same clock speed.  However this si the technology that is pretty much at our disposal. Intel does have a 36 core hyperthreading CPU but it is still in the development stage and is targeted more towards large research systems rather than us enthusiasts, same for Nvidia's forthcoming 32 GB Pascal GPU (imagine the compute power of a Cray Titan with 18,688 of those 36 core CPUs and Pascal GPUs - scary)..

I will be delving more into memory configuration/management in the coming months as considering the investment involved.  12 GB of Video memory may seem a lot but I'm sure will find a way to exceed it especially once I start rendering in sizes for fine art quality prints.

Dang, that's a lot of power! surprise

I think I start work at 10:30am but I am on my tablet not  paying attention to the time.   Almost said that I work at night which would be stupid as the mall is closed at 10:30pm.

Has anyone seen any of my pajama bottoms?

great I really did post this when I was half dazed and out of it.

    Are you fully dazed now?

I guess. Trying to go to work. I think someone wants me not to go to work by putting ultimatum on me.  Have a perfectly clean room or do not go to work.  This is not the type of job I can call out just because someone wants me to stay home but not really stay home.  Instead I would have to ride a stupid van all day just so I can loose my job.

They putting unnecessary pressure on you.  do you still have a case worker you could complain to?  sounds like you have a reasonable complaint.

  • MistaraMistara Posts: 38,675

complaint - sometimes my replies don't go to the end of the thread, i'm on the wrong page replying to old posts.

    This is the normal Nargacuga.

    They're like cat-bat-dragons :D

Ninja Dragguns. Very swift and speedy, not very big though. Their eyes don't always glow red like in the first two pics, dramatic as it might be. Their eyes only start glowing like that when they're really angry ^^

....oooh, I like these guys, especially the first one.

    He's ready to pounce! :D

I like this critter as well hehe, interesting design and seems like a really cool critter ^^

I agree it is too much pressure.  I told my case manager and my therapist.

Heat dissipation has always been the real technical feat for Crays.

The Cray 2 sat in a bath of liquid coolant. It always boggled my mind that the processor was small enough to fit in the corner of the office but the coolant radiator filled a room!

    Cheers,

    Alex.

...that would almost make me melt, and I'm not made of wax (at least I don't think I am).

...yeah it would have 1,345,536 processing threads (as the Intel CPU is hyperthreading so each CPU has 72 threads) and the Pascal Based Tesla GPUs between 4500 - 6000 CUDA cores which would come to a total of 84,096,000 to 112,128,000 GPU cores.  Not only powerful, but extremely fast. The interesting part is the Pascal architecture draws less power so it will produce less heat and have a smaller form factor than the current Kepler Tesla units.

Scarier will be the Titan's "successor" at Oakridge, the Summit which will use the new IBM Power 9 CPU and Compute GPUs along with the forthcoming Volta architecture employing Nvidia's new NVLink direct link concept. It is projected to have five times the application power of the Titan with a peak floating point performance of 150 - 300 PetaFlops. For comparison, the Titan is rated at 20 - 30 PetaFlops.

Could an ExaFlop supercomputer be far behind?

I went to petco to check the price of goldfish since I have a twenty gallon tank.  I met Fred. He is following me home from petco.  Fred is so cute in a comet way

It's 94 here today. My youngest just got home from high school marching band practice dehydrated and light headed. He just went to the pool to cool down and we are forcing water down him.

I need to give Fred more water when we get home.  He wants to swim in it though.

Morning. A half dozen orange and yellow hot air balloons sailing from the rising sun with deep throated angry beast rawrs and flaming breath, one or two almost grazing rooftops in their unsteady progress  :)

A couple of hundred connected Playstations seems to hit a sweet spot for complex simulations as well :)

Fred is about to enjoy his new condo. His condo is all ready for him to make it a home for him.  he just needs to get used to the water temp.
