Big things in small places:  I'm still noticing windfarm blades(wfb) being trucked past my house through town.  I was at the grocery store a few days ago and saw one come through.  One blade, is longer than the downtown area.surprise  Two of them would cover the entire length of the town.  One would cover the width of the town. (So, you might describe this town as being 2x1wfb in size)devil On the main road through town there's about a 100 degree obtuse angle turn entering the actual downtown area (two blocks east of me).  It's quite a process to see them navigate that turn.   Wheee..., entertainment.smiley  I've seen at least one go through every day for about a week now, but I know there are more than that each day because I can hear the truck noises slow down as they navigate the curve.

Finishing the Job:  A few months ago, the gas company came around and reloacated the gas meter for this house.  They dug up the yard, lay new pipe, and crudely shoved the dirt & rocks back into the trench.  Winter snow hid it for a while but when visible, is a muddy, rocky mess.no   I was starting to think about buying a rake and some seed, but today I hear voices and truck motors outside the house.  A quick toddle to my porch revealed the gas company (or someone hired by them) properly spreading real dirt onto the rocks, then seed, water, and fertilizer.  That's going to be the best grass in the yard.yes

Non complaint; The forecast is saying that temperatures are on the rise, no more below freezing temperatures in the mornings next week.

Complaint; Not looking forward to changing the tyres...

    Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgh!

I was just testing a stupid model I UV mapped, in DS (4.16) and for some reason when I opened it the viewport had the 1:1 ratio box on the screen and in trying to get rid of it I undocked the viewport and couldn't get it to go back right, so I googled how to do it and thought the suggestion of "Window > Workspace > Select Layout" made sense... so I selected "City Limits Lite" which seemed to look the most like the way it was and selected that... it's close but everything on the left side of the screen has tabs on the side, not stacked horizontally like it used to be...  It's so annoying... I hate it...

I doubt I previously did any customization of the GUI other than close panes I don't use... now I can't figure out how to get the panes on the left to stack horizontally and it's really frustrating because Google is no freaking help.

Tried recreating my little boy with the Dakota.  Tons of feather props,  but that made it a whole lot easier to get the stripes and stuff on.  Just make the selections, and assign the material!  One of those Arcane Mysteries though, when it comes to "But what if I wanted to make it myself too".  Probably just clone them onto the body and that's that  -  I guess they split it into multiple sometimes overlapping sections to make weighting and stuff easier.

I think the 1:1 ratio is render size ,so would be under render settings , I also think you should look under  Windows/viewport to put the view port back   .......if I'm wrong start yelling for Richard  !!

I hope they didn't use the kind of grass they did at the front of my yard when they put in a new water main. That stuff grows fast and tall and needs cutting every 3 to 4 days.  Before they put in the water main I had nice lawn with Centipede and Bermuda grass that stayed fairly low and only needed cutting every couple of weeks

Window>Workspace>Orient Tabs Along Top? Though that affects the whole UI

You can add panes to a group, once it exists at all, by right-click in the grey well that contains the tabs. You can drag an undocked pane group by its "ttile bar" (it doesn't have a ttile, but it does have the x for closing) to the edge of a pane well, such as the top of the empty area made by dragging out the Viewport, until you see a line of highlight colour and then drop to dock.

I doubt I previously did any customization of the GUI other than close panes I don't use... now I can't figure out how to get the panes on the left to stack horizontally and it's really frustrating because Google is no freaking help.

I got them to stack, sort of... What you said worked, but the stupid content window (regular content window, I'm just calling it stupid because it's not doing what I want it to) is still side by side instead of split top and bottom... the icons/thumbnails window used to be on the top and the content hierarchy window (if that's the right word) at the bottom...

This will, I'll get used to it I suppose.

    Thanks.

I got rid of the 1:1 thing when it reset the viewport to City Limits Lite... I did the Windows/Viewport thing too prematurely... I should have just tried to figure out how to redock the stupid window, but I reset the stupid thing instead...

City Limits Lite is basically the same look... but just slightly different enough to be annoying.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Open TV and tune in to some boring program, doesn't take long to fall asleep.

The split between the container and item lists is set in the Content Library pane's option menu - the lined button in the top corner, or rright-click the tab. You would want List or tree, depending on whether you like Mac-style or Windows-style oresentation of hierarchical folders.

It took a bit of searching, but I found a screenshot of what it looked like previously...

And this is what it looks like now...

I prefer the old look on the left, compared to the new look...

I like the way the content hierarchy appears on the left image... it's neater or visually easier to figure out where I am...

If that makes sense... the one on the right is just one big long list...

The screen set up on my MacBook, basically looks the same as my Dell does now...

The version on my MacBook is 4.15.02...  the version on my Dell is 4.16.0.3...

I'm wondering if when I upgraded from the previous version it transferred the previous GUI setup... because as far as I remember the way it was previously was the way it looked since I first started using DS4... ...?

    Is that a thing?

    Is there some "Classic" setting?

Sorry, I forgot to mention... the list/tree option doesn't really change it to the way it was, it's still side by side, but with smaller thumbnails.

Thanks again for the suggestion though.

My layout looks a lot like your top layout, but I didn't remember how I set it up. After some experimenting, I believe you probably started with City Limits Lite, then customized it from there. City Limits Lite gives the tabs on the side, while City Limits gives the tabs across the top.

To get the Scene tab split from the other tabs, I think I had to experiment with dragging and dropping the scene tab. As I recall, it took a while and was a pain in the backside. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I got it... Richard had it, but I was misinterpreting what he suggested... there are two icons with lines... I was clicking the wrong one... he directed me to the right one, but I didn't see "list/tree", it was there, but under preferences... I should have noticed the little arrow next to preferences, indicating there is another menu...

    Thank you both!
When I win the lottery you will both be rewarded handsomely!

Until then you just have my undying gratitude... and what's better than undead gratitude?

Money of course, but currently all I can offer is the colorful monopoly kind.

    Thanks again!
