    Here's a render of Herlinda.

I don't own the product, but it almost looks like the normal map involving the button sewing was exported as Direct X rather than Open GL. If that holds, the fix would be to select the area for that and flip the green channel in a 2D Editor.

The buttonhole normal on the inside of the lapel digs into the cloth. The buttonhole normal on the outside of the coat cloth protrudes out. I don't think flipping the green channel will be a "fix". That would just make the ones on the lapel protrude and the ones on the coat indent. My main objection to the normal is the diagonal texture that doesn't look anything like keyhole buttonhole thread stitches. This is what a buttonhole looks like.

Normals start from the geometry normal, so if this is a dForce item with only single-sdided mesh you would probably need a double-sided shader so that the back could have the normals inverted.

That is a very valid comment. But (as I said above) "My main objection to the normal is the diagonal texture that doesn't look anything like keyhole buttonhole thread stitches."
This is what the product buttonhole texture looks like. You can see that the uniformly angled lines bear no resemblance to the stitches of a real buttonhole (shown above). It kills the realism of the very nicely modeled and textured coat.

Yes, sorry - I was just meaning to address the inverted on one side aspect.

Imagine that buttonhole problem showing up on every single character you wanted to use of the current generation.

I decided that editing the maps (content aware fill in PS) to remove the lapel buttonholes was the best way to go. I also removed the highest buttons and moved some others, etc.
I'll stop spamming the thread now. blush

I already own the Nanosuit from when it was sold on Renderosity, it's a really cool product and auto-fits well to G8M. You can switch off the feminine lacey parts (or not, if that's what you're into, lol)

It may require UV-Swap for some of the elements to work on G8M, I don't recall which parts are geometry and which parts are geoshell, it's a mix of the two.

Today's Daz+ products, ForbiddenWhispers' 'Egyptian Odyssey Iray Shaders Vol 1' and 'CB Lita Clothing Set', look very good and are already in my product library.

Could you maybe give me the file size of the clothing set? I'm tempted too, but CB clothes have been terribly large in the past, and my ssd is small ...

Ouch, yes! The files are indeed very large: part 1 has 517 MB, part 2 even 746 MB! Is that really necessary...? On the other hand, ForbiddenWhispers' shaders are pleasingly small: only 38.7 MB heart

Thanks so much, that's as I feared. I've taken to reducing all such large texture files once installed, and then try to keep in mind that I do have larger sizes if needed for close-ups. But if I can, I now avoid purchasing such things altogether. Cause from my point of view, no, it really isn't necessary - as ForbiddenWhispers prove!

  • The headlining Pamawo item.... It's a great set. I bought it a year and a half ago. Is it worth a headline? If it was new, absolutely it would be. I was so excited to see this artist join, and right off the bat came a couple sets that were new. But since then, they're re-releases and slight updates to sets that had already existed, some of them for years, at another site already, and were blown right out in a month-long clearance sale at that other store. I want to see this PA's future, not their past.

Seeing as how Pamawo and Ansiko are the same person/people, I have been wondering if they are using the Ansiko label for new work while using Pamawo primarily for the stuff moved off Renderosity. That may change once they work through the remainder of the items they want to migrate, though.

It's an interesting set, BTW, and I've owned it for quite a while now, but people who buy it should know (if it isn't obvious from the images) that this is not a "bedroom" in any sense. It's a side corridor/cul-de-sac in a space ship or station that a girl has kitted out as an improvised bedroom. The stories write themselves: Is she here because she didn't want to bunk with her parents? Is she a Space Runaway/Space Stowaway? Did they run out of space on the ship and it was just "crash wherever you can find?"

I plan to use it, eventually, with most of the props removed, for a hiding-in-the-bowels-of-the-station type, like Newt in Aliens.

In other news, every time there's a "Oh, it's space stuff today" feature card in the carousel, I wince for my cash flow. At the moment, in personal protest at their pricing policies, I am trying very hard to not give Daz any money, and these are the ones that test my resolve. Obviously, I didn't buy the Girl's Room because I already own that, but I wanted the Assembly Line, the Zensun outfit, and Charli Djinn. I eventually did buy all three, but let's just say I was very thankful for those four tokens I had lying around. Goal: No more Daz purchases until March. We'll see if I can do it.

You know, last year March Madness started early... ;)

On the more serious side, I'm trying to limit my purchases too. Christmas, and then the Lunar New Year sales made me buy more than I can render. But I just need a better graphics card, right?

Yeah, this would hit at the wrong time just before payday. I want the Zensun outfit so bad. And all that other stuff. Sigh.

And for those who don't already own the bedroom, it's great. Get it.

  • Same way iBot Nurse made it into the Repair Shop. :)

Removed the discussion of this as it seems to be speculation/rumour rather than certain fact.

  • I'm interested to see if Pamawo's 2CV Safari ever turns up here. The Rendo version had a serious error - 5 wheel nuts not 3 like on the real thing (absolutely heinous crime, that). It'd be interesting to see if any re-work had been done in the changeover if it does happen. Regards, Richard.

It's Luthbel day! Tra la! Tra lay! With decent promos of the various included parts.

Yeah, yeah, putting it on a female without an undertunic is silly pin-up fodder, but it comes with a decent tunic, and great footgear.

But no sale on their store which is a shame.

Ad-Gladius and the texture addon is sitting in my cart but knowing DAZ there will be some additional later flashsale if buying a new release so hesitating on checking out for now if I do

at 44% off it's OK but not sure how badly I really want it simply because I don't render Romans, Greeks or any classical characters often,

cannot actually recall myself doing any renders with such content even set in Biblical scenes (I go for pure non historically based fantasy)

the outfit itself is excellent as is all Luthbels stuff of which I own a lot

The type of ripped armor this product depicts is not particularly historically accurate, so you can happily think of it as fantasy. Although the Romans did wear armor showing some muscles, known as Muscle Cuirass (or Lorica musculata in latin) it was no where near as pronounced as in this product, and generally such armor was more ceremonial than used in real combat.

Admittedly, even without  remembering any of the specifics, that caught my eye first. I still could have done with fantasy, however with "videogame industry base polycount standards", but without interactive license being offered, well knowing that it has use outside of computer games this way, it's just made it onto my watchlist.

I really like Luthbel's new armor set, but I haven't had acceptable results getting stuff for G9 to look good on G8/8.1M, despite the items I bought to do that. I don't like the tunic on its own, though. I think it's one of those G9 issues to compensate for the default breasts that make the garment look odd on a traditionally male-presenting shape.

So, these two pose sets are independent? The poses in the first are included in the second, with the second adding a rider? I think the "Hierarchical" part is on the wrong set, there is no need for hierarchical poses for the Big Cat2 and the Battle Cat Armour. With the rider, more likely.

Feline Rider Hierarchical Poses for Daz Big Cat 2 and Battle Cat Armour

Feline Rider Poses for Genesis 9 Feminine, Big Cat 2 and Battle Cat Armour

And now we've got a new Vampire. I have no interest in the vampire. But some of the stuff in the bundle is at least interesting.

It's a fantastic vampire. It's so good that it'll suck every drop of blood out of your body paying $61 for the bundle.

I like the vampire and most stuff in it, but I have no particular use for a vampire at the moment, so I can't justifying getting him without any stacking discounts. Like Tara, in the wishlist it goes.

At the same time, I have no complaints about the price: I understand both Daz and PAs have to make a living, and it's not their fault the price doesn't work for me. I do appreciate that they regularly put older (or just "not so new anymore") products on sale, and I'll patiently wait for when my budget and the price match more closely.

    I love the Hearse. https://www.daz3d.com/xi-classic-hearse

I have such an addiction to cars and coffins, eventhough I rarely use them. One of these days...

The bundle is $23.58 with two other new items and 8 tokens. And I'm still not getting it, because I don't do monsters. But for the buy-three cart discount deal, there are enough related items that I will probably take them up on the offer.
