Is there a way to determine how much of a percentage from the punch card gets applied to eligible items before putting it in the cart? I've got 35% off, but I haven't seen it yet applied to it's entirety, which forces me to be constantly adding and removing from the cart to see how much is being applied. In the image below you can see items that are at 40%, but when added to the cart they cap at 61% when it should be 75% (40% + 35% from the punch card)

That isn't how percenatges combine. You take 40% off the base price, then you take 35% of the remaining 60% off (which is 20.5% of the base price) giving a total discount of 61% (rounded off to a whole number).

That's both tedious and disenheartening. What's the point of accumulating all that discount percentage if it won't be applied?

Multiple % discounts are applied sequentially. From the base price, you take 40% off, then 35% off, which gets you to 61% if there is nothing else applied.

Otherwise if percents added up to over 100 then the store would be paying you to take the item.

*Forum was acting weird so I'm repeating now, but it still applies.

Paying us to take the item, now there's an idea  devil

"Multiple % discounts are applied sequentially"

It makes sense now that you mention it, but that sales method—along the other Holiday promos—is unnecesarily complicated, specially since Daz doesnt break down sales items. That's something they should be doing for transparency and to avoid confusion (like it is required to do in the EU).

Otherwise if percents added up to over 100 then the store would be paying you to take the item.

That I get. That wasnt the nature of my inquery, but thanks though.

  • I definitely agree about showing the breakdown of what discounts are being applied to get the final result!

And I just mention the last bit whenever the discussion comes up about percent discounts - and it comes up here a lot - to illustrate why it isn't additive. I know the discounts you were looking at here wouldn't have come up to more than 100%, but that does happen here sometimes!

  • Will only buy a few 3.99 or less stuff in this sale if I see some I want. Not a fan of the punch thing, if I could keep the three punches 4 the whole sale until after xmas/NewYear then I would buy stuff to make it happen but to buy and get the discount - next day I see most likely nothing I want as I only buy what would suit Lara Croft for my fanart- then loose it unless I buy stuff I don't like or stuff I do like but would normally wait until better discount? 4 all days untill Xmas? No Thanks...

I'm confused. My punch card went from the max (35%) this morning back down to the minimum (10%) this evening.

I assume it is because I am not buying new things every day?

If that's the case... well for heaven's sake! Since when do punch cards "unpunch" themselves?

(edit: it's frustrating, that's all I will say. no, I will add that Daz will get a lot less from me this December because of this sort of thing)

This appears to work correctly, but I think I need to go back and listen to "New Math" by Tom Lehrer. This purchase requires New Math to understand it. All 3 items were listed in the store at 40% off. But wait, they gave me a 10% for a first holiday punch discount. Somehow, the first two show up at 58% off, and the third at 72% off. I had a $5.00 store credit, so I paid 12.96 as shown. There's nothing on the front page about some sale where you get 50% off on two+ items. It doesn't look right that the first two show up with one discount, and the third is a different discount when they were all listed as 40% off.

    0.1* original + 0.4*original = 0.5*original (wrong answer)

    0.6*0.9*original = 0.54*original (wrong answer)

Before I added the third item, the first two showed 61% off, but then went to 58% after adding the third. But hey, confusion is par for the course!

It doesn't make any sense to me, but none of the three are a good deal anyway. All are significantly above their recent best price.

I too dump stuff from my cart if it's not a better deal then recent best price :)  I don't mind.. it saves me money ;)

I'm not buying anything today. I was going to buy the Pixie bundle, but I got disgusted that the text at the top of the sale page was not the whole story, and to get that extra 10%, you actually had to buy another item from a very small list. The 10% difference was less than $4, but I was just over it after that disappointment. So I decided I'd just dial up my own "pixie" from G9 morphs I already have. She's cute enough for me. I'm going to post her with the mushroom hat and locket over in the PA thank you thread when she is done rendering.

There's nothing I want to buy today. I'll lose my punch discount, but that's OK, I'll have the $40+ I didn't have to spend on the pixie bundle. So, I'm way ahead as I calculate it.

I only bought the https://www.daz3d.com/pixyled-outfit-for-genesis-9 to keep my punch... It was only about 8 bucks with my discounts!  Plus the freebie... of course ;)

It's definitely a pain in the backside. But on the up side... at least you get three punches?

That's exactly $ 6.- than I'm ready or able to spend for keeping the punching going... wink

  • Dark Fairy Bundle pricing seems wrong:

    $48.99 = Daz+ price (30% New Release + 30% Daz Original)

    $48.99 x .8 (banner 1) = $39.19

    $39.19 x .75 (banner 2) = $29.39

    $29.39 x .65 (full loyalty discount) = $19.10

Price should be $19.10 if I didn't flub the math or misread the details, but it's $23.88 in cart.

    See attached.

It looks like people are getting both banners and should only get one. If you don't own Pixie 9, but have Victoria 9, Michael 9 or Josie 9, you get 20%. If you own Pixie 9, you get 25%.

The dark fairy bundle is a good deal with the banner and the punches it seems - I just wish I wanted it! But unfortunately, I don't. I have such a lot of fairies already, and Pixi 9 doesn't appeal to me much. I'll keep my fingers crossed for seeing Stonemason's Paris WIP pop up in the Holiday sale instead.

  • I didn't want any of the three bundles I've bought so far this month, but the benefits have far outweighed the "hide this product" queue in DIM. I've spent about $130 on the bundles, but got:

    Alien vs Troopers Bundle
    Sukai 8 Superhero Bundle
Tara 8 World Adventurer Mega Bundle
    Freja 8 Viking Maiden Bundle
    Celani 8 Pro Bundle
    Stephanie 8 Pro Bundle
    Lucas 8 Pro Bundle
    Decimator for DAZ Studio

    for $25. In total.

With the other discounts, my purchases this week stand at $213.32 in store credit - less than that from my bank account because of the gift card discount. The total value is $2,278.45 (that excludes the Daz+ and daily freebies), meaning I've paid 9.36%. It's unclear, it's confusing, but it's working if you game it right.

I bought the Pixie 9 Bundle on release day and they didn't add the Expressions yet to my account. I have already opened a ticket, so let's see how long it will take to sort this out. xD And no this didn't stop me from purchasing the new Dark Fairy Bundle today. I just love the tiny critters.

You get one punch for each of the immediately previous three days on which you made at least one qualifying purchase. On how many of the preceeding three days (by Daz time - MST) had you made a purchase (over $2, buying a Gift Crad doesn't count though using oen to pay for the order is fine)?

Yeah, I find that to be incredibly silly. It's certainly not how a punch card works.

I'm sure that others have found it useful, but to me "spending $2+ every day on random junk you don't want because eventually you might use that 35% discount on something you do want" doesn't hold much appeal.

Respectfully, no you don't. Many others have pointed out that if you get to three punches and miss a day, it goes down to one. But if you make another purchase it goes back to three. I understand that it should work the way you are describing, but it is broken and seems like it was from the start. Personally hoping this is a sign to DAZ not to try something like this in the future. The black Friday punches seemed to work though, maybe like Valve they can get to two but can't handle three of something.

That indicates an oddity, it doesn't indicate what the oddity is. What i keep asking people who drop to one punch is whether they purchased on one or two of the previous three days (Daz time). So far no one has come back to say two, with details I can send to Daz for checking.

  • Ok, in that case, I had purchases over $2 on the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th. On the 7th, I had 35% off, on the 8th it was down to 10% off, and now I am back at 35% off. Prior to the 8th I had 35% off since I first got it (which was a few days after it started, I didn't pay as close attention at the time).

For more details like what specifically was ordered I guess I could PM you, I'm not looking for any sort of correction so I wasn't planning to open a ticket about it.

  • I purchased something over $2 every day of the sale through the 5th. I did not on the 6th. As soon as I didn't purchase my 35% dropped to 10%. I haven't bought anything since, so it remains there. HTH.

Yeah it goes back and forth from 10% to 35% off. There is no 20% off.

I had 35% on December 6th when I made my last qualifying purchase. I had purchased qualifying items for several consecutive days at that point. On the 7th, I still had 35%, but I did not buy anything. The next day, the 8th, I had only 10%. At least that is what the graphic on the sale page said. I didn't test the cart, because there was nothing I wanted to buy. So, by not purchasing one day, I lost 2 days of punches. In other words, I had purchased on the 5th and 6th and had only 10% on the 8th. Since then I have not purchased anything (except freebies) and I am still at 10%, according to the graphic.

Edit to add: I don't really care about any of this. I'm not buying stuff to try to maintain a punch card discount. I'm only responding here, because Richard is asking for examples.

OK, so the 8th should hav counted both the 5th and the 6th to give you two punches as I understand it (assuming those were the days according to MST) with only the 7th missed.

Sorry, I was late reading this and missed that butterflyfish and barbult had replied. I have sent all three of your details to Daz to see if theer is an issue with the way the offer is working. Thank you.

If you are at 35% off and don't buy something for one day, it skips 20% off and goes right to 10%.

  • Sorry, there are actually different offers - please read the details above/below the punch card artwork as there is not one set of rules for all.

I don't understand at all. I read the words. It doesn't say what happens if you miss a day of purchasing. It doesn't explain why there are three punch positions illustrated but it only ever shows 1 or 3, never 2. It is still as opaque and confusing as ever.
  • Sorry, there are actually different offers - please read the details above/below the punch card artwork as there is not one set of rules for all.

Is that separate from the examples you were asking for, or the response to it? Because if it was in response, the text doesn't say how you lose punches *at all*, so DAZ may want to check the store page again. The only explanation I've seen of what intended behavior is was your posts here trying to help people understand what to expect.
