"One more question, can I hide the wispy hair ends that stand up from the bun at the back? I'm not really sure from the list of morphs, and there's no promo to show it. Thanks!"

Yes! But its a smidge more work now, because opacity doesn't work. Ill put some directions up in the main body of the post :)

Looks great. I didn't even know they made improvements. Must have missed the memo.

This is awesome! Great looking product, Insta-buy for sure. I've never been a big fan of Strand Based hair and I also prefer dForce-able hair, so I'm so excited to see this improvement. Thank you for spearheading the actual use of these new methods if that's the case and I can't wait to see more! :D

    Love it! insta-buy!

Pros: looks fantastic, a big upgrade from the old SBH products. Easy on resources, both in the viewport and during simulation. Love the style!

Cons: I tried a simulation with just the head forward 90'and the bangs/whisps still didn't not drape fully,  even cranked up the gravity. Maybe an option with future products on different levels of dforce with one for full dforce for extreme positions. It also created a huge saved file at 700 MB when saved. Without the hair, the saved file was at 47 mb since I had a couple of autofit items in the scene

Yay im glad you like it :)  and man that looks really good!!!!  heart

I kept the bangs pretty stiff, but if you want them more drapey : you change the bangs surface settings as such :

Local Shape Constraint Stiffness (.7 ) is default

    Local Shape Constraint Bias .5

    Local Shape Constraint Gain .5

Local Shape Constraint Tip Stiffness   .5

If its still too stiff, play with the Local Shape Constraint Stiffness (.7) and reduce it  until you get something you like

I have found over the years that these hairs are a little moody with simulations and really need to be adjusted for your pose/need.  But these are the settings you need to play with.

Local Shape Constraint Stiffness controls the overall stiffness

The bias is where along the shaft of the hair/surface the tip gets control.

The gain is how fast it transitions between the root and tip

The tip stiffness is - how stiff the tip is lol ;)

Yes I saw it and it was helpful, but I feel most would rather just have a one click solution, which I have seen in other products as opposed to chagning settings themselves

Agreed. Every since I got home from work and saw it was released, I have been trying it out in different scenes. It really is a joy to work with. I hope it sells very well for you Chevybabe!

    My trial on https://www.daz3d.com/young-anime-heroes-for-genesis-9

Does one always need to run dForce simulation on this hair?

Thanks everyone!!! These are all so very nice!!

Artini, no they don't have to be simulated if you dont want to.

Also, for the odder, non standard shapes, you may get away with selecting the scalp and trying to expand the scale :) Even though it is invisible, it still plays a vital part.

*And as another note, if any of you are looking for where the cool morphs are, select the scalp in the scene tab, expand it, and you will see the hair object. Once that is selected, you can click on your shaping tab and all of them are there :)*

Thanks! Luckily it came together quite fast seeing as it was one I had previously set up, I just replaced the hair with this one (as yours was the originally intended hair)

Another render - this time on the younger character. I think hair looks also great here.

I have increased a scale on the scalp to 105%, but I am unsure, if it looks better.

I think, If you turn on the scalp on to visualize how it fits to the head, size it, and then turn it back off, maybe you will have better luck?  Is this G9?

  • ArtiniArtini Posts: 9,462

    Thanks for the tips.

Yes it is G9 with https://www.daz3d.com/the-age-for-genesis-9 applied.

I picked the hair up the first day it came out but only now had the time to play with it. Its really the next generation. Beautiful, very realistic and light on the system. The new shader is to die for! The hair looks great in every light setup. I'm waiting for more styles chevybabe :)

  • chevybabe25chevybabe25 Posts: 1,256

Seeing how that is G9, I think the shape must just be that extreme. Interesting, because even Nikolai can wear this hair with no problems.

Oh wow, just bought it, can't believe how small the hair file is - zip's not even 100 MB! Much appreciated yes!
