...that was sweet.
I'm not sure, but I don't remember my neighbors being covered in fur.
Complaint... Well today was the National Emergency Alert Test which was supposed to the activate graphene oxide nanoparticles which I've been hording up in my body and turn me into a zombie...
Social media never delivers what it promises...
Bummer...
Now I have to come up with legit excuses for biting people... this is such a ripoff.
Makes ya wonder why they're testing that now. Do the "they" know something we don't? Like a zombie event following the ecllipse?
And y'know..., Russia also recently announced a test of their equivalent Emergency Broadcasting System. They got zombies too?
I feel ripped off! I didn't hear the emergency signal on my phone. I thought it was supposed to be a loud noise, to get your attention. I checked later and the message was there, but I didn't hear a thing. Nor did Diane on her phone.
...I set my phone to Airplane Mode so as not to be disturbed and muted all audio settings.. Received no messages on any platform afterwards either.
Apparently I'm not zombie material.
Did seem to pick up a drinking problem though.

is it just me or are others having difficulty distinguishing between uppercase i and lowercase l with the fonts websites choose to use including DAZ3D.com?
We need serifs
there is at least one PA I find hard searching because I don't know which letter is in thier name
this one I only know is an L because they are listed alphabetically https://www.daz3d.com/alfan
and the url confirms it as all lowercase
When in doubt, I try to copy the text and paste it into Notepad...then change the font to something with a serif.
by the time I fart around doing that I have already decided I don't really need their products
not picking on just that one, only an example as it's one I took the time to sleuth it out, there are other cases here and elsewhere I just don't bother and move on
I do actually own 5 of their products
I heard the loud noise yesterday, but didn't check it until now to verify it was a test. Actually it was a good thing it went off around 2PM as I needed to take my afternoon anxiety pill.
Realization: People think if you had eaten earlier, time would have stood still and there would be no loss or expenditure of time... so if you are eating in a hurry after having accomplished a time consuming task, you'll be told "you should have eaten earlier"... presumably because by eating earlier, some sort of quantum-temporal phenomenon will take place that would allow you to have eaten and accomplished the task in the equal amount of time as having not eaten at all... either that or people like saying stupid s**t.
I just saw this movie which is based on this book.
It was a good movie.

The things that annoy me are like, when I said I was hungry and my nephew said, "go eat". Or when I said I was tired and my aunt said "why didn't you go to bed?". It's like they think I hadn't thought of those ideas and they've somehow solved a problem. My nephew... rarely to never... solves a problem. My aunt might, but it's been a while. And it's not that they can't solve problems. Just they don't relate to any problems I have, Maybe they go around solving problems other people have.
The Aunt Squad... That could be the basis for a new (or retro-new) action crime drama... about an aunt who travels from town to town searching for her lost something or looking for the person who either framed her for her ex-partner's demise or did something really naughty a while back, but the point is as she goes from town to town she solves crimes, fights for the little guy, rights wrongs and makes sure people remember they should go to bed if they are tired... I picture it a combination of The A-team, Starsky & Hutch and The Equalizer... with a little bit of Manimal and Twilight Zone thrown in... but not the good old Twilight Zone, that weird 80s one... but the show would be great and family friendly with lots of life lessons like "did you check your pockets for the car keys" and lots of wholesome cursing...
The Aunt Squad... Coming to Netflix in 2024
I kinda hate when people do that... solving crimes... no, wait... saying stuff that nobody wouldn't think of... and if I hadn't thought of it, why the hell are you standing there making suggestions, call 911, I'm probably experiencing some sort of medical event that's clearly life threatening...
I want to go to bed as it is almost 9 pm. I first need to pour out my paint water. Good night.
Oh I am getting a desktop soon. Not the best but I can hopefully add a second hdd to it.
Complaint: cough syncope... As a person with COPD, this isn't good. I bumped my head yesterday while standing in the dining room when I fell over backward. It's been almost a year without an episode. Hyperventilation and adrenaline from coughing hard cause me to fall over. Usually, I sit down, but the gray tunnel came fast and furious. I grabbed for the counter. I couldn't get a grip; I could see the counter, but it was far away in the swirling gray tunnel. Good thing the Stars woke me up when I went down.
Yikes! Are you OK now??
Not nice, Agitated Riot. Be careful. My current covid cough causes me to have greying vision when a coughing fit stikes. I can sympathise, but don't want to replicate.
Complaint: Mother-In-Law.
Non-Complaint: She had some time out of hospital this week. 4pm Tuesday to 3am Thursday to be exact. Whereupon she was taken back to A&E after another fall. She's had 3 bad ones since 31 July, and broken 2 vertabrae. The fact she's managed to be well enough to leave hospital at all is great. Just wish she could enjoy her little bungalow for a while.
Regards,
Richard
Yeah, I'm fine. I have a very hard head.
Watching a "big" download is boring.
My phone downloaded Android 14. It looks exactly the same as Android 13.
Progress!

...major complaint:
Absentee apartment management.
Ever since the building I live in changed hjands between management companies last April it's been an exercise in frustration.
The management office is closed more than it is open even when the schedule on the door sys it is supposed to be open.(one week it was open for only two and a half days). When I call, no one picks up the phone so it goes to voice mail. So I'll leave messages but have never received a call back. I tried their email address but that is apparently broken as Gmail returns an "undeliverable error" after so many tries. I've been told the lack of response is they are "understaffed" but this has been going on for nearly six months now.
It has come down .to the point where yesterday I wrote a note, put it in an envelope and slipped it under the door.as they had a notice the office was closed for the day (agan evne though it was scehduled to be open) but would be open today (Friday) for the normal hours, So I went down this morning to talk to the manager and guess what, the office was closed though no notice was on the door like yesterday as to why. MY cncern surrounds the fact management is having maintenance perform routine work in every apartment between today (10/06) and next Friday. On the note I left, I mentioned that I needed to set a specific day and time to have them come in so I could plan to be there as Ihave running errands, and events to deal with foe the next seveal days, .(I don't like people entering my apartment when I'm not there unless it is an emergency).
Having received no response to my note (and the office is closed until Tuesday morning...maybe) I am totally in the dark as to whether they will enter while I am out. Not about to sit in my apartment all weekend waiting (don't even know if they will be doing this or not on Saturday and Sunday because of the poor communication).
By law the minimum time for such notifications is 48 hours in advance (the old management company would give us one to two weeks warning). The notes we received abou this were taped on everybody's doors on Wednesday afternoon which was less than the required minimum of 48 hours.
Never had these kinds of issues with the previous management company.
I wasso frustrated I actually went to the BBB site so check on this company and discovered I'm not the only one irritated by this. No only do they have spotty reviews for their other properties, but I felt this company bit off more than they could chew by taking over our building (which the largest in number of units compared to all their other properties that includes a large a number of seniors and special needs people). I have no idea how the local Housing Authority allowed the takeover given ths managment company has numerous complaints filed and seems not to have the personnel required to properly run the facility.
What's worse, we received notice they will be raising everybody's rent starting on Jan 1 next year (at least it wasn't less than 2 days beforehand). They better get their act together by then.
I really like it here and the neighbourhood I live in. Affordable rentals here in Portland are pretty much impossible to find these days particularly where everything one needs is close by. However this sort of irresponsibility for this long is maddening and a disservice to the tenants here.
