I was inspired by the request for more black hair options. Now rendering a LAMH version that looks promising.

Really would like to see that one when It's done!

    And here he is...

Felicity skin on G2M, African morphs from Genesis brought over with GenX2, some vascularity morphs, Really Short Hair + LAMH

The hair isn't... quite right, but hey.

Kevin: What are your compression settings? I usually have it when backdrop is too big and getting downgraded.

This is good old Benjamin skin with Iray converter. Hair is actually just a displacement pattern (I was curious if I could massage it into looking like hair, and, hey, I think it worked). Dynamic sheet with Mec4d fabric, painter's lights, and random morphs (primarily Benjamin transferred to G2M, but a bunch of other tweaks)

Click on image for full size.

That is nice, the hair really works, but I'd think I'd drop the towel PBR and replace it with Traveler's iRay shaders for the Plushies. They are in the freebie section.

Oh, forgot to say... the sheet is Dynamic Sheet from the Daz store. Compression is in Render Settings, Advanced tab

That is super nice, Will!  And, you know, I've actually seen hair like that on a real person!  So, you aren't too far off!  Nice skin!

And in the nonrealism category, tried earlier render with PWToon, happy with results.

Will, the skin on your latest renders is amazing. And I've worked with LAMH... I found it extremely frustrating trying to create curly hair. What you've created looks good. And as KnittingMommy pointed out, it does look like hair we've seen occasionally.

Your last image, however, is very touching. The light touch of the man's hand to the boy's head speaks volumes to the love of a father for his son. Well done.

And... did you use a dynamic cloth for the blanket? DynCreator? (I've not had much luck with dynamic cloth/clothing, but I do have a tutorial I need to sit down and go through. And I'm seriously thinking of getting DynCreator. I blame that all on you, by the way... wink You've done some really nice things using DynCreator.)

I like how the PWToon render worked out.  Very nice!  Your render with the boy in the bed is also very nice. Really well done!

Channeling being a dad into my work... I have 7 year old twins, boy and girl. The sheet is actually the Daz store Dynamic Sheet, which I bought. Took me a few tries to get it to drape right. First, set it to Twin size preset. Friction 2 or so, thickness 1, checked self intersect and face back thing, upped the stretch and sheer resistance. Then I angled the sheet so it would fall a little back on itself to get good folds.

As for skin, I've been using Iray Skin Converter. I can't recommend it highly enough... it requires very little fiddling and produces great results. As for hair, KendallSears advice was to make sure to use a lot of points. I think I used 80. Then a careful amount of curl, clump, hair frizz on the roots and very mild on tips. Also Unshaven 2 brown hair.

Oh, the dad uses Benjamin skin, the boy uses Felicity. I'm not 100% happy with the boy's skin -- eyelids don't look exactly right. But hey. I used Zev0s growing up 5 year old preset plus ethnic morphs and tweaks.

I think Will's Toon render and the sleeping boy renders came out excellent.

Love your pictures Will, especially the one with the child and father. It's very touching.

Here's my first try at contemporary...  Say Seoul contemporary.

Did my best to imitate a photograph, including messing with lens settings. Not sure it worked though.

I hadn't rendered a guy in awhile and I had this idea for an image with a harmonica player inspired by a player I like.  When I heard Male-M3dia was having a rough week, I thought I would try the image with Landon as I hadn't rendered him since I bought him.  I hoped it might cheer Male-M3dia up once he came up for air.  I'm not sure I got the lighting quite right as I didn't want any direct light on his face, but I did want some light on the hands.  Hopefully, Male-M3dia approves of what I did with his figure.  He did a really nice job sculpting him!

Attention to detail is great.  Love the materials on the clothing KM!  Lighting looks just fine to me.

  • KnittingmommyKnittingmommy Posts: 8,191

Thanks, @RAMWolff. I'm glad the lighting looks okay. I can't really take much credit for the materials on the clothing as they are mostly Moyra's work in Informal Chic for Men.  I just adjusted some settings to make it more like I wanted rather than straight out of the box.  I can never seem to do anything straight out of the box.  Always have to do some kind of tweaking!

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,220

Yea, I agree, most of the time right out of the box is never good enough!  lol

I long for simpler times. when men were real men, women were real women and most of europe hadn't really figured out the whole pants thing yet. Ah, for those halcyon days when men wore tights and miniskirts.

Seriously medieval men's fashion was the best. Such... subtle footwear, well more subtle than codpieces got, I guess.

Iray and my current preferred postwork method: render an exr and tonemapping + the oilpaint filter (applied selectively) in photoshop

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,040

Oilpaint filter? Hmm. I should play around with Photoshop filters, now that I have the thing...

That shirt is beautiful. Whatever texture that is it loos so soft and realistic. O_O I want it.
