I agree, it's your best
In The Field
Awww, they're so sweet! I'll bet that'll be a happy summer memory when they're both old & grey & still in love like a couple of teenagers. I know it would for me, was I in their place. :-)
:D
They look great! i love the haze and all the flowers. Hopefully not the same guy who got wounded in the meadow under the tree. =-)
That is an AMAZING piece. I love it top to bottom. I hope you get more compliments and comments. Very whimsical!
Wow! Thanks, RAMWolff and nonesuch00! And of course to the people who commented in the gallery!
Nope. Not the same fella, but he made a full recovery :>
New render. Gaze
Here's Michael's buddy Lochlann.
I like your image, @IIdanach. Is the figure one of you own, or one available from the store. Also, what hair did you use. Good job on it!
Your Gaze image is very nice as well, Mal3Imagery!
Very nicely done on both!
Meet Ren-in full club gear:
Wow! Now that bodysuit design actually makes sense. Can't remember, is it for the G3s or the G2s?
+1 Gorgeous male. Tthe hair and beard and beard suit him. Are those fiber mesh brows, too?
@mal3Imagery, that's a good pose for your guy. I noticed the bend at the right shoulder though, (that bright line of light skin draws my eye.) Is that the lighting? Or the same ol' shoulder bend issue we're all hoping is finally fixed in G8M?
Thank you, @DarwinsMishap. I'm always amused to see the males in skimpwear. In this case, Ren looks darn fine as an added bonus.
Thank you! It's the Bad Girls texture set for the G3F bodysuit here in the store.
You're welcome! I had hoped so- when I putting him together I was pleasantly surprised the outfit made sense (to me) on him.
Genesis 8 base male with a couple of the hidden parameters dialed in.
There are hidden parameters? Have not downloaded him yet, will he work in 4.8? The first version of 4.9 did not turn out so well for me so I got rid of it and haven't updated since. But I am so besotted with Michael 8 that I'm willing to take the risk again if that's the only way. It would be heavenly if he could work in Poser too but alas that is not to be, otherwise Daz would get every penny I have today on these new lovelies.
I haven't loaded him yet, though I've downloaded and installed the new content. However, if G8M is like G8F, he will load with an error message saying he won't work. What doesn't work in 4.8 and earlier versions of 4.9 is the PowerPose features. But the female character loads fine without it, and works as well as G3F. I think it's safe to assume you'll get the same functionality with G8M in 4.8.
Don't think I've ever used PowerPose or had any reason to. Been so long since I used Studio regularly I'm not sure I remember what PowerPose is. What the heck, I'll give it a try.
Yeah, if you go to Parameters >> Hidden you'll see that they have included several "clones" (Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, Genesis 3 Female, Genesis 3 Male, and Genesis 8 Female). I dialed in some of them to create a new "character". Though you have to save it as Scene Subset rather than a character as saving it as a character won't include the clones in your character's shape.
As for if he works in earlier versions of Daz Studio, I don't know.
He throws a "you must upgrade error message" at me but loads & works ok. Except his autofit options are somewhat limited -- no pants or footwear, among other things although he apparently does wear Vicky 6's dresses rather well. They say he's the most backwards compatible figure yet but I dunno, here's what happens when I try putting G2M's pants on him. Poor guy!
Did you "fit to" G8M and then choose Genesis 2 Male when the pop-up menu comes up asking "What Figure was the Original Item Designed For?"
Fit to G8M, selected G2 male as the clone to use, then Full body since there is no pants option. Theoretically, that should not have happened. Then again, neither should this when I tried a Genesis bodysuit, selecting "Genesis" and "Full Body" in the autofit box. And I still cannot find Hidden in his parameters to take a look at any clones he's supposed to come with. So until I get this figured out, he's gonna be stuck wearing tank tops and shorts and Vicky's dresses, which amazingly do not mangle on him because he does have a "Dress - Knee Length" option. And of course he'll go barefoot unless I buy him new shoes because there is no Footwear selection in his autofit categories either. Not that most shoes ever convert well, but sometimes you get lucky.
I think there's something seriously wrong with how Genesis 8 Male was packed. I just downloaded everything through DIM, including a file that allegedly had Genesis 8 Male starter essentials. I installed, opened up Studio and ... he's not there. Michael 8 is there, the characters from the pro bundle are there, but G8M himself was nowhere to be found.
I downloaded and installed manually from the product library, and there he was!
Once I did that and looked at him, the autofit clones were there ... but no, there is no specific pants clone.
The copy of Armani Hair that I had loads parented to G8M, but not fitted.
I suspect there may be a series of fixes headed our way.
For G8F, and I'm sure the same will be true of G8M, I've been told to choose "None" for the type of item, for anything hair: head, facial, eyebrows, body. That seems to work really well. Also, I've found selecting Full-Body works well for pants, shirts, bodysuits, etc.
I'm not having any issues finding G8M. I used DIM to download and install.
Same thing happens even if I select "none" or "full body". Anything with sleeves or long legs won't autofit on him correctly. The only way I got G2M's thong on him was to select full body from the menu and it still seems to sit higher on him than on Genesis 2 or even Genesis 3. Not a terrific fit, mind you, but not indecent. At least he has a swimsuit now. I'll play with him some more tomorrow. May even cave in and update Studio if that helps more than it breaks.
I haven't shared anything here in a long time! I couldn't resist trying out the new boys, though. I had lots of fun with G8M. My own morph using the head and body morphs and the Randomizer. Inspired by the song Boys by Charli XCX.

For what it's worth, autofit specifically has received several updates since 4.8, including in the latest 4.9.4.122 build.
As a practical issue, given that Autofit functionality is part of Studio and not just the clones, what you may be running into is that autofit itself has no idea what Genesis 8 is, and may not be interpreting the clone information correctly. That's especially likely to be true given that autofit in 4.8 will be expecting both the To and Source figures to be in T-pose starting position, and not one in A-pose. It may help to get one of the pose correctors before trying autofit, but that may just relocate the arms and legs of clothing to new and interesting places.
Here is my first piece of art using Genesis 8 Male.
I did a quick test using the pants from Amos Outfit for G2M, selecting Genesis 2 Male in auto-fit with Full-Body for type. In 4.9.3.166, the pants fit just fine. In 4.8 release, the pants did what you're seeing.
Still in 4.8, I tried the Debonair suit from A Gentleman's Wardrobe for M6 and got the same results you did for the bodysuit. I even tried a G3M product, Cyber Soldier, and it didn't work correctly either. I was able to auto-fit the jeans and a shirt from the G8F Mega Wardrobe in 4.8.
I'm sorry, but it appears clothing from earlier generations, when the figures were in the T-Pose, aren't going to work correctly in 4.8.
