Thanks for all the tips. I am still playing catch up on the G3s having had to pass on them when they first came out due to Daz and my computer not cooperating. Fortunately the latest Studio version appears to have fixed that issue, meanwhile I have quite the learning curve with Iray and what will or won't work properly with it. Will check out those characters and see how close they come to my Jake. Also I notice there are several versions of Beautiful Skin in the store, do I need one for each generation or what? My most used textures are M4 and V4 skins, some of which I have already converted to Genesis 2. I'd like to be able to use them on 3 & 8 also if possible but at the moment budget is tight so I'm looking for the most versatile option, hopefully under 20 bucks. Anything else will have to wait for a coupon and the next big sale.

    For M4 and V4 UVs, you'd need this: https://www.daz3d.com/beautiful-skin-genesis-2-iray-bundle

That takes care of everything from M4/V4 through Genesis 2 Base Male/Female, including the Michaels and Victorias (but none of the other UVs -- no Stephanie or David.)

    Genesis 3 is a separate add-on bundle.

Oh, and if you want to check for other G3M characters, they're all under "RedzStudio" at Renderosity. (Well, except for their Santa Claus, and that seemed a bit off track for what you want.)

As promised, a render of Lazarus Post-Apocalyptic (... sort of) using Beautiful Skin Iray. No postwork.

"Sort of" because I sent him through Blacksmith3D's Texture Transformer (from Renderosity), and that's his texture on a dialspun G8M. However, he is still using Beautiful Skin Iray, but the Genesis 3 version.

BSI does need a bit of tweaking with him; the default SSS Reflectance Tint is too blue for him and it needs to be shifted to plain white or a sort of ivory to keep him from looking just a bit dead-like.

Nice work! Love that lighting and eye glow. Picked up Beautiful Skin Iray last night along with the M8 Pro Bundle (and 7, and 6) but haven't downloaded yet. I expect I'll get the G3 add ons later, I've wishlisted a whole bunch of stuff I figure I'm gonna need to bring my characters up to date. GenX will at least get me as far as Genesis 3 and I think someone's already working on a way to get from 3 to 8. It is quite a leap as until now I've only been fiddling around with G2 in Poser but I think (hope) I'm up to it.

Lazarus looks great. I like his tats and he is nicely mature looking!

  • Haven't picked up M8 yet, although he looks amazing in renders. So still playing with G3M... Here's Darwin's Diesel for Elijah 7:

I passed on the bulk of the G8F stuff, including V8 and O8. But there were several items in Mike's pro bundle I wanted. That made it a no brainer to buy the bundle with all the discounts. I haven't had a chance to do him justice, but here is a really quick test render.

Wow-that's awesome!  Thank you for using him in this.

There are a lot of great renders going on in this tread.

Here's one I've been working on lately between work and life and stuff.  It's not Michael 8/G8M (just starting to dive into him) and it's not anything from Darwin's catalog -- although Malachai (that face!) and Dmitri have been in high rotation on my computer lately.  This one is my attempt to prove to nerdy Simon that there is indeed life after high school.

Well, thank you! I'm glad you can make use them.  Nice kit-bashing with the outfit by the way.  Great facial expression as well.

Cheers, mate. Kitbashing is one of my favorite things about working with Daz/Rendo products. So many PAs are generating so much interesting stuff with unexpected layers of complexity that it's hard to resist the call to get in, pull stuff apart and start tweaking. I need to upload this image to my gallery at some point so I can give props to the folks who made the stuff I used by tagging their products. One thing that I'm not crazy about is the camera focus, which isn't quite tight enough.

The DOF in your pic, however, couldn't be more perfect. The lighting, pose & overall composition too. Totally evocative.

Mine as well- went so far at times to pull in loads of female assests to the males for some time to add more to their wardrobe for certain looks.  You did a great job at that, olympos.

Thank you!  DOF has been buggy for me at best simply because I lacked patience. Finally think I got a handle on it.

Here's a Genesis 8 Male I've been working on (Same as the guy in the DOF piece) wearing a ring I made to practice in Substance Painter.

Nice!  He's got a little bit of William going on, only without the facial scars (which I loved).  Way sexy.  I'm adding him to my pre-Wishlist Wishlist.

"This is Jim. If you start it, he will finish it. So don't start it."

Rendered in Iray. No lights, though I tried a few sets out but they were more trouble than anything else so I tossed 'em and let Studio use whatever the heck it uses in such cases -- hey, I'm still trying to figure all these new toys out. It really is a wonder I've gotten this far so quickly without wrecking anything in the process, especially my brain. Oh look Ma, no postwork! Well, except for the border and my signature but they don't really count, now do they?

Very nice. He does look fully capable of kicking some serious butt...

Here's one I suppose I should include here, even if he's with a—gasp!—female. This was the result of a conversation about no black characters for G8M, (yet!) (Inspiration for your guy, too, @Byrdie?) Anyway, all the facial changes are using the Head Morph pack.

Been rather a long time since I've posted in here.  So, here's a picture of a waterfall.

    @Byrdie  yes

@L'Adair  I envy your ability to do a natural looking bike pose.  Mine rarely ever work.

Thank you, @Butch. However, the City Bike comes with the poses... for G3M, G3F, G8M, and G8F. I just adjusted the legs a bit to accommodate the shoes. And squeezed the carpals together on the hands. (That's a pet peeve of mine, actually. Hand poses always look so unnatural because our fingers do not have gaps at the base. But I digress.)  The most work I put into the poses is from the lower neck up: expressions and leaning, rotating to give the couple the look of having a conversation while riding, glancing at each other while keeping their main focus on the road.

The waterfall looks good. Is that a photo or a render? And of course, the back view of your guy looks really good!

Ahh.. cool. Nice tip. Maybe I should update the product with this. I didn't know they exist.. :-)

@Butch: Very nice. Reminds me on our trip to Grand Teton some years ago.

    Kind regards, Eagle99
