@L'Adair  I envy your ability to do a natural looking bike pose.  Mine rarely ever work.

Thank you, @Butch. However, the City Bike comes with the poses... for G3M, G3F, G8M, and G8F. I just adjusted the legs a bit to accommodate the shoes. And squeezed the carpals together on the hands. (That's a pet peeve of mine, actually. Hand poses always look so unnatural because our fingers do not have gaps at the base. But I digress.)  The most work I put into the poses is from the lower neck up: expressions and leaning, rotating to give the couple the look of having a conversation while riding, glancing at each other while keeping their main focus on the road.

The waterfall looks good. Is that a photo or a render? And of course, the back view of your guy looks really good!

Agreed, every figure has this issue with their hands... same with the Hivewire figures.  Drives me nuts.  No natural!  lol  Well you just made a sale for this published artist.  I didn't know a bike WITH poses for the current figures was available.  When the new figures hit I always STOP buying for older figures, even as little as I buy for Genesis I can def use a bike and see what I can do to get poses for Dusk and Dawn and maybe little Diva!  Your render is just perfect by the way.  Love it!

Ahh.. cool. Nice tip. Maybe I should update the product with this. I didn't know they exist.. :-)

You can't access the carpals from the scene tab. If you select a finger, then check the drop-down in the parameters tab, you can find them. G3 had only two, Oops, I meant G2 has only two, each controlling two fingers. And G3/G8 have four, one for each finger. They are very limited in movement, (unless you change/remove limits,) but they don't need to have much movement. Use the carpals to move the fingers side-to-side instead of the top section of the finger and you bring the fingers together more naturally. You can also bend them slightly, but if I remember correctly, you cannot twist the carpals. If you need to twist the fingers, you do that with the first finger bone.

    Thank you. blush

You will love this bike, @RAMWolff. Go into the adjustments and there's a button (!) to convert it to a mens bike. Lots of other adjustments, too. I really appreciated the ability to rotate the tires. My image would have looked a bit off had both bikes had the tires in the exact same position. There are icons to turn the headlamp off and on. Lots of material zones. I was able to apply a paint shader to the ladies bike without removing the Brand on the frame because it's in the Diffuse Layer, (? Doing this from memory...!) Eagle99 really paid attention to the little details. And it's those little details that make the difference when you're trying for realism. This is his first product, and if he keeps up this quality, he will be a favorite PA for a lot of us. (I say "he," I've a got 50% chance of being right...!)

ETA: When the new figures hit, I look for products that support both the current figure and the previous one. Especially now, with G3 and G8 being so similar. One of the selling points on the City Bike, for me, was the dual generation support for the poses.

ETA2: Corrected the references to generations, corrections in red.

G3 also has 4 carpals. They move around when you drag the fingers with the universal tool as well. Looks like I did that for some poses.

Yes, the brandname is a diffuse overlay. No base texures on the frame, just color. The bike is new, so no need for rust and scratches... ;-)

    And yes, "he" is correct.

Unfortunately as a "he" I don't have much for him... meaning Genesis Male figures to contribute to this thread.

That why my promos only have Blueman... ;-)

But here is what I could do with Genesis 3 Male, Mec4d HDRI Central Park NYC - Megapack (beautiful!), On the Town Outfit and Sunny Hair (for her).

I gave him a metal shirt to fit the long hair :-)

    Heavy guy dreaming

    Kind regards, Eagle99

    Thanks!

Background's an hdri by dimension theory and I added a shadow pane for the models shadow.  That's all that's in this, apart from the model - hence the reason it only took 15mins to render at 2500x3300.

Backpack, which I don't use often enough is a freebie dynamic one from optitex.  I changed the film type to an agfacolour, I think, to give it a 1960/70's look.

  • I finally have Michael 8. He makes a good ginger

Rendered in Iray. No lights, though I tried a few sets out but they were more trouble than anything else so I tossed 'em and let Studio use whatever the heck it uses in such cases -- hey, I'm still trying to figure all these new toys out. It really is a wonder I've gotten this far so quickly without wrecking anything in the process, especially my brain. Oh look Ma, no postwork! Well, except for the border and my signature but they don't really count, now do they?

Very nice. He does look fully capable of kicking some serious butt...

Here's one I suppose I should include here, even if he's with a—gasp!—female. This was the result of a conversation about no black characters for G8M, (yet!) (Inspiration for your guy, too, @Byrdie?) Anyway, all the facial changes are using the Head Morph pack.

    On A Sunny Afternoon

Nice job, L'Adair.  I haven't tried out the bike with the guys,  yet, but I think I really should.  That's a nice couples image.

Uh, could you take a look at your settings on the image in your post?  I could have sworn that it was set properly when I first saw it when it was posted (didn't have a chance to comment then), but now it is showing up on my computer screen at full size.  I'm not sure what happened.

  • I picked up the bikes too and the skateboard set. I think a bike image will be in the future soon.

I'm guessing here, but was this in the editor in full screen, "Maximize," mode? I've set the image to 100% in the properties, so it will size itself smaller if needed, (for a smart phone, for example.) The actual image is 800 pixels wide, and I believe the forum software will contrain it to the 800 when displayed. But I have noticed when I'm writing/editing with the editor maximized, the image will become big enough to go all the way across. So I'm guessing that's what happened.

I totally agree with you... I had to get Dylan the moment I saw all those rich and beautiful imperfections... It seems that people have now upped the game.

    #respect  Great render btw.

I wasn't going to get G8M, but he was very cheap and I gave in.  Today I managed to convert my G3M models to G8 with no deformities, they pose wonderfully and all mens clothing fit properly - except for stuff that resembles body hair sad

Meet Angus.  G8M, Quinton skin using redspec tgx shaders and my usual bizarre lighting method.

  • @mal3Imagery  Nice!  I love what you did with the skin.  Looks very good.  Lighting is really good, too.

@Butch  Angus looks like a great morph.  Nice to know your stable of guys made the transition well.  :)

Okay, it's almost that time again and I'm posting to see what kind of interest there is in running the It's Raining Men Again contest.  I'm looking for opinions and interest.  Do we run it again or is everyone tired of rendering men yet?

    is that the repurposing contest?

  • @Mistara  That's one of the categories we've had in the past, but it isn't the main part of the contest.  It's about a contest all about rendering the guys and bringing attention to the fact that they are important to a lot of us here in the forums.

I would never not be interested (... yes, OK, that mostly scans, I think.) Or, in plain English, yes, I'd be interested, and I think there would be more general interest for at least one more round.

It's still my favorite subject of render.

Which "stuff that resembles body hair" do you mean? I've been able to use Oh My Body Hair without any issue (except with the back hair, which, as it turns out, has the same issue on G3M anyway).
