...well the eye issue seems to be more an Iray thing. I tried several different experiments, even using straight 3DL eye shaders and the whites as well as Iris colour still come out looking darker than I want. They look fine in the OpenGL preview. A bit of a setback as albinos with blue eyes tend to have very vivid irises.
The brows script has stopped working for me. I was redoing a character, stepping through the options and brows did not apply. I tried different colors, different styles, etc. I closed out my file to clear everything. I de-installed and re-installed SB3, and still no eyebrows. Any clue to what the error might be?
What version of the product are you using? You should be on V1.2. If you have V1.2 then I have no idea why the brow script would stop working. Try restarting your rig and try again. I know script wise it isn't broken, so it must be a system resource issue. If the problem persists, send me your log file please.
I'm using v1.2. I didn't think to restart my computer, as I was assuming that I messed a setting up somewhere. So... I re-started my computer (turns out there was a Windows update running in the background, which I was hoping was the culprit, but...) Anyway, running SB3 again, Brows still doesn't work - actually, neither do some of the othesr.. Attaching the log from the session after I rebooted my computer.
Background: I had created a skin and decided the blush was too dark. I went back to a previous version of the file before I had applied the blush and started stepping through the process. Initially, I thought I was applying some things too lightly, and that's why I wasn't seeing a difference. At that point, none of the scripts (veins, lips, brows, etc.) seem to work.
If I save versions of my file as I apply each script, should I be able to go back and take one of those files and build upon the skin some more?
I experimented and created a new base skin. With that skin, the scripts seem to all work again. But going back to the file I made last night, the scripts don't. Am I doing something wrong or does SB3 work that way?
I see you are using Scene Optimizer. If Skinbuilder 3 and it's scripts work without being edited through that then Skinbuilder 3 is not the problem. Skinbuilder 3 will not work properly on optimized files that have been reduced.
I didn't realize that. I did reduce the textures this morning to see if I could get it to render faster. That makes sense. Thank you! I will go back to a version before I ran the optimizer and see if that works.
Going back to a version before I ran the optimizer eliminated the problem. Thank you for the help; I wouldn't have thought of that until I had banged my head on my desk for a bit longer.

I ran into a similar problem when using the base G3 female, converted to Iray with the Iray Uber Base. There is something about the way that skin is converted that causes trouble. When you create a Skin Base, SB3 completely replaces the skin on your figure, so the Iray settings are correct. If you really want to use the skin materials from the base female as your base skin, you need to use another process to convert it to Iray.
I tested this extensively, and it's only the base female skin that causes the issue. Other skins converted to Iray with the Iray Uber Base do not have problems in SB3. At least the several I tested.
ETA: I didn't see your later post when I did my post. I'm glad you figured it out. And it's good for us all to be aware of the issue using the scene optimizer!

Thank you for that info! I'd probably hit that problem sooner or later also!
I found another character that has the problem applying makeup, brows, etc., SC Alieta Spryte for Genesis 3 Female. Being stubborn, I decided to try and find the culprit. Success!
I created a skin using the skin base, applied to the base female. I then went through and started changing the parameters for the Face zone of the base skin to those of the skin I was working with. Apply a change, open SB3, apply makeup... It works, Undo, close. Repeat.
What I found was the script dies if there is no image in the Glossy Layered Weight parameter. To further test this, I started a new scene and added the G3 Base Female, converted her using the Iray Uber Base. In the Surfaces->Editor, I selected The Face and Lips zones. I clicked on the empty image square of Glossy Layered Weight and selected RyJeane_faceS_1001.jpg, used for Glossy Color. I then opened SB3 and proceeded to add Blush, Shadows, Liners, Lips and Brows... all without any issue. As the Editor was still open, with Face and Lips both still selected, I was able to see the image get updated with each process applied.
So there you have it. Before opening SB3 for any Iray G3F, verify the specular map is included in the Glossy Layered Weight parameter for Face and Lips, and add if it's not already there. (You may need to bump up the value to 1, to compensate for the image map. The Base Female for G3F was set to .25 by the conversion...)
Now I'm off to try and get my Alieta based scene finished in time to enter in the render competition...
I cannot use brows or eyes, it simply won't add it to the character, and it's been like that ever since I bought it. I don't use optimisers btw.
EDIT: It works when I build the skin for it, but it doesn't work without building the skin even though options such as color and freckles work on existing skins. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way or not.
jevgemojevna - did you check the UV maps for the eyes? I had that problem a few times and discovered that some of my commercially bought character's eyes were loading as V7 or one of the other exclusive UVs instead of the Base map. The differences were so slight that I really couldn't see it on the commercial textures, but it did cause problems with the SB3 stuff.
and re-routing this from the contest thread where I accidentally posted it:
I wish I'd had time to do a few more renders for the contest thread, but there are so many great ones there already that the chore of picking the winners is going to a tough one. Oh, and I noticed your first item at that "other" store and was wondering if there was going to be a skin builder add on for it? The base figure actually works extremely well with SB3 skins as long as you load them after the rest of the skin, but having those textues as a stand-alone would be a helpful, though certainly not essential, add-on.
edit: whoops, see you already answered this over there. Yes, the autoload for the NewGenss works surprsingly well, but the one issue I've had is that if you use other shaders on top (like NGS2), and then want to change your base skin for some reason, it means having to go back and reload everything. Not a deal killer by any means, but it would be a big time saver.

@jevgenijevna, I agree with Cybersox13 about the eyes. I've noticed issues with both the eyes and the nails, and when looking at the UVs via the Surfaces->Editor, I found the eyes did have the Victoria 7 UVs and the nails had UVs from a nail addon product. When I changed those to the "Base Female," everything started working again.
I also know the issue with the brows. It is a problem for all the scripts that affect the face materials: Blush, Shadows, Liners, and Lips in the Makeup section, as well as Brows. Your character is missing an image in the Glossy Layered Weigth parameter for the face zones: Ears, Eye Socket, Face and Lips. You can skip the first two, but SB3 needs to modify the image to apply the makeup and/or brows. When you build the skin via SB3, that parameter includes a specular map for the image. Here's how to solve that problem:
Before opening SB3 for any Iray G3F, verify the specular map is included in the Glossy Layered Weight parameter for Face and Lips, and add if it's not already there. ..once I discovered the source of the eye issue I was seeing, been experiencing no difficulty with any of the settings. Skin, Brows, Overlays, Eyes all work fine.
The base G8 uses a G3F UV, so you're already covered except for (most likely) the Gen maps, and since Zev's already confirmed that he's doing an update for G8/V8, my guess is that's what it will be for.
...I would thin k Zev0 would be loking forwrd to a ell deserved rest myself after getting the G3 version out the door.
Not really interested in G8 as I already have more than enough to keep me busy for quite a while.
Are you kidding? He's already got Posebuilder for G8 coming and a bunch of other stuff. In any case, having a full G8 option ought to make Skinbuilder a much bigger seller since I'm willing to bet that the V8 UV set proves to be D.O.A., given that it's only used by two of the skins in the actual V8 Pro Bundle.
...well, not going to jump on the bandwagon yet as I have a lot of time and effort invested in the G3 versions of my characters (still working on some) as well as a healthy investment in G3 resource content I managed to piece together on my meagre income. Furthermore, there will probably be no update for GenX, which is an important resource for me, unless someone else picks that ball up and runs with it.
Besides a more important priority right now is saving up for a memory upgrade and a 1080 Ti so I can get out of the render "slow lane".
Hoo BAAA!!! I just figured out how to create Genesis 3 Male skins with SkinBuilder3. Maybe somebody else has already done this but I'm woefully behind in my reading and wanted to show off anyway...
It's FWArt's Brayden with freckles applied, veins, moles and new hazel eyes. Eazy-peezy! Load G3F, apply G3M UV, apply male skin texture and run it through SB3. Save it off as new preset. Load G3M and apply new preset. Voila!! New skin for G3M.
I'm sure somebody's already figured this out....it's way too easy.

Yes, a couple of us have experimented with doing this. Not sure if anything was actually posted here, though, so you might be the first to post to this thread. I believe there was one entry in Zev0's contest with the skin on a male. I've done one and I know of at least two others that have experimented with it, too. Nice job!

I did a male centaur for the competition, but I used the base G3F skin and used SloshWerks UV Swap to fit the female skin to the male figure.
The Base Male and Base Female UVs are not identical. You can probably get away with freckles, age spots, veins and such, possibly even brows, (if you move them up.) But any full uv process, such as Color Blend, is going to miss some of the areas near the seams. I've put together some images comparing the outlines of the male and female UVs. For the face, I also added the location of the eyes and the nostrils, one side is for the female the other for the male.

Black is where they overlap
Red is for the female
Blue is for the male

I use the macro eyes anyway so I can't comment on that issue, I never had any troubles.
