I'd like to see this fixed, otherwise I am highly considering returning the product. There's a lot of real estate on a couple of the screens that could be repurposed, with less important items (read: product banners) repositioned to fix this, and of course maybe the developer could just add a scrollbar to the right side, similar to how the rest of the Daz Studio panes work..
Products receive updates all the time, and this seems like somelthing that would be simple to release as an update.
Also, I'm on 1920x1080 (a very common monitor size), just with a bit more of the bottom screen space repurposed for workload purposes.
1366x768 is still the second most commonly used screen resolution (behind 360x640/smartphone resoluton), still representing about 12% of the market. for web use anyways. 1920 x 1080 is still in third place, representing only about 6% of the total screen usage. Sure, desktop systems will often have larger screens, but a number of people have Daz Studio on their laptops.
The tab solution doesn't work for me, as I can't see the stuff I'm tabbing to at all. I'd like to see at the very least a scrollbar or something added to the next update.
Since Daz Stuido is a free download, one should expect that people are going to use an addon product such on this one on a number of monitor sizes with their Daz Studio install.
He mentioned this, not sure if that's what you are looking for....
The bottom of my screen (1920x1080) has a taller taskbar than usual (2 rows). But I'm assuming tht those with smaller screens will have this problem as well (say if you are using a 1366x768 monitor).
Edited. Script can not be made smaller. That would require a complete re-design and will be extremely expensive. We will look into if a scrollbar is beneficial and will work with the current script design, but if it breaks/hinders usability for the majority of users we will not change how the product works.
So, since you weren't being optimistric, I decided to hook up my 1080p tv to my laptop. (1920x1080 native resolution). I set up the display as an extended display, so that I could drag items across to the new display, offsetting the orientation slighly down so that I could 'grab' the lower corner of the Skin builder pane and attempt to manually resize it. I was still unable to resize it smaller, but...
I noticed that once I dragged the window onto the external display, that the SB3 pane would suddenly drop it's size a bit, hence making everything visible.
So I looked at my display settings...I was using the recommended settings, with my fonts/apps/etc. set to display larger, and with the display set to expand to 125% (the recommended setting).
Setting it to a custom setting (tried 110%, and also 120%) seemed to solve the issue. The Skin builder pane is now appearing at a much smaller size, hence I can see everything in the window.
I manually set the scale to 125%, and I'm seeing that fonts/apps/etc. now has a greyed out 175% in the display settings pane. So apparently, my Windows 10 install MAY be scaling apps up to 175% when using the recommended setting.
Dunno what to think about that, but at least now I can see the buttons at the bottom AS LONG AS I don't use the recommended Windows setting.
Hopefully this will be of help to others. Short form, I seem have it solved on my end, but which 'call' you are using to determine screen size may play into this.
Just boguht this myself and I must say that this is absolutely awesome! Already my characters a looking loads better.
Its a learning curve that's for sure, I'm having a bit of an issue trying to match the skin tone of the vanilla G3 skin, in the Iray render the skin becomes much darker in tone than in the preview, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I have a question that may sound stupid. What is the best way to take a skin you made for a G3F and put it on a G8F? I have heard people say get a G8F and then apply it. This works great for mats for other G3Fs that have thumbnails but not for custom skins.
Is there an easy way to apply them or do I need to apply multiple mats to the various surfaces?
You save it via the script. That is what the save utility is for. It will create a skin preset & thumb, which will remember your shader and your textures that was saved. Then just load that preset onto Genesis 8. No need for any manual mat application to surfaces.
Only just picked this up tonight. Haven't installed yet, and I wanted to check - is it best to install via DIM or is it ok to install via Smart content/connect?
Also, the user guide that is mentioned - is it linked in the download via an icon once installed?
Can be installed either way. We made sure it was compatible to show via both methods. The userguide is normally included in the zip file if downloaded manually, I have no idea where they add it via smart content.

Oh no wait. I placed it there lol. I did that so users can access both from within the script itself instead of searching for it. We made buttons. Sorry thought we were talking about traditional placement of pdfs lol. Coffee has not fused with my bloodstream yet

Hmmm. Installed it this morning via Smart Content/Connect. There's no icon to click to bring up the user guide. The product support icon brings me here to this thread in the forums.
edit: it is installed in data -> cloud -> 1_41613 so i copied it to a folder on my D drive so i can bring it up when I need to. No problems, just wanted to let you know that there's no script within the product in Smart contnt to bring it up. :D
edit again! - i need to drink my coffee before i look for stuff. LOL. There's a button for 'user guide' once you START the skin builder script. LOL.
Lol, that caught me too, Jaki. I've lost count of the amount of products that I've thrown myself into without reading the manual, only to come unstuck. I was determined when I got Skin Builder 3 that this was the one time I was actually going to read the instructions before I got started. I gave up the idea after ferreting around for a while unable to find them, then ran the script and realised that this was the one time I needed to get started first and find out what I was supposed to be doing after! I love this product, though. It's still my most favourite Daz purchase ever and I can't wait for SB8. I hope you get as much out of it as I do :)
LOL definitley tripped me up! I too have the habit of never RTFM and then wonder why the heck I can't get something to work properly. I've been playing with it this morning and having such fun! Although I started off with Ophelia 7's skin and then sat there wondering why I was getting a seam or two.....and the epiphany finally hit me...oooooooooooooohhh G3F uv's! ha ha. I've got to read back through this thread as I really really want to do a very very pale skin, so I need to catch up on the tips for doing that.

I'm still quite a bit stumped on making the base skin look right, in the texture view the skin looks close to what I'm trying to do, but when Iray renders the skin gets much darker.
Try adjusting your render output settings, or your scene lights. Increasing environment intensity alone makes a huge difference. That is if you are using Iray ofcourse.
Lighting makes a huge difference, since my tests were with the Scene Only option with no additional lights at all. Loads of tweaking are still needed on my end before I can get a happy result.
just finished install. keep getting file read error, and the log isn't much help... and product support button just brings me to this forum. anyone got fix?
I've found that it's pretty difficult to make a Caucasian skin, does anyone have any tips or tricks to achieve this? At the moment the skins end up either too dark or too pale even with proper lighting.

I can't tell with how you've cropped the picture; I get that error message if I try to apply character presets without actually having the character selected. Do you have clothing selected by accident?
Can anyone tell me what color nipples LY Camille HD for Genesis 8 Female has before I purchase her? Thanks!
lol What? They're green. No, wait ..they're blue. What color do you think they are? :P I'm guessing a darker shade of her skin tone, like most nipples. lol Not sure how anyone makes a decision whether or not to buy a figure simply on what color her nipples are. lol However if you're not happy with the color of a part like that, it's SUPER easy to bring the torso map into photoshop and do a quick color adjustment to your liking on the bits that you want to change. :)
PS - I'm not sure why you'd ask that here, the Skin Builder 3 product isn't made by the same PA as Camille.

I added the clothes for sake of modesty? I guess will be the word I use right now... made sure I had figure selected every time. have gotten the error about a dozen times now even with character not wearing anything. thought I had it working when I just loaded Hillary character in and went from there, but not workin again... kinda really buggin me right now.

Patiently waiting for a software fix.
can I get a screenshot of your interface and the script clipping?
I included it with my previous post. Here it is again:
What is the screen resolution?

Thanks for the support:) You will get used to the settings. We tried to make this as simple as possible so it won't take long to get the hang of it:)

Thanks! I'll check out the file list and see if it's mentioned there.
edit: what a weird place to put it! File list says:
/People/Genesis 3 Female/Materials/Skin Builder 3/Resources/Skin Builder 3 MR Agreement.pdf
/People/Genesis 3 Female/Materials/Skin Builder 3/Resources/Skin Builder 3 UserGuide.pdf
which would be data -> cloud -> 1_41613 I guess.

...there is a nipple colouration adjustment as which is a subset of the main skin builder tab.
