I am a daz beginner and try to create a character with skin builder.
But how do I accomplish that the brow and hair color match?
Under brow color in skin builder one can change the color but I don't know the exact color of the hair and it doesn't show in the surface tab of the hair (under base color there is a white<?> on a black background).
My attempts to get a matching color manually under brow color in skin builder are always slightly off.
Any advice?
Thanks
Don't try for an exact match. Even if you could match the color of the materials exactly, other factors will change how the hair looks when rendered: scene lighting, materials settings, whether or not the hair is in shadow. And while there are any number of hair color shades in real life, the makeup counter will only have a few basic colors for Brow Pencils/Powder. (Last I looked anyway.) Basic shades should be sufficient.
With the exception of Black hair, I'd try for a few shades darker than the hair. Maybe find three to five colors you like that work well with skin tone, to cover the basic hair colors (blonde, brunette, redhead, black, etc.). And always make a no-brow version. That way you can use one of the fiber mesh brow products with your gal, too.
When Skinbuilder finishes the process of making a new skin are all the textures left in the new character folder needed? Is it safe to delete some of them and has anyone found a way to sort of streamline the process so there aren't so many textures at the end? I'm just wanting the texture folder to be as tidy as possible. Thanks for any tips or advice.
We've asked this same question much earlier in the thread and were told no male version is planned. The script is a big undertaking with a lot of time needed to get it right, but the market for male products of this sort is comparatively small. I want a male version, too. But I can't blame Zev0 for not wanting to work for far less than minimum wage.
If your need for creating male skins is not commercial, you can still use SB3. Sloshwerks G3 UV Swap makes it possible for G3 male characters to use the Base Female skins, (and vice versa.) There is also a G8 UV Swap that does the same for G8 males. The G3 Base Female materials will also work on G8, the difference being the separate Eyelashes. If you select both the figure and the eyelashes, double-clicking on the overall material preset will apply to both in one operation.
I'm guessing it's creating the male textures that isn't worth the trouble rather than the scripting, once there's a female script it would be a series of very simple find/replace in files to point to different textures and base figure and voila! male script.
I am so done with female crap.y art is male oriented. So I guess I don’t count and neither do the other artists who like to include males in their art. I was so hopeful that DAZ’s obvious female fetish might be broken.
Apparently not.
And this is NOT to slam the artist. The artist is awesome. This is plain old jealousy that female bits are all most artists are allowed to play with.
I am sad but I wish great success to the artist.
i will return to the non-popular male side of town and be quiet.

LOL... Hon, don't blame Daz or the PA's. It's all about the money, and it's the "female bits" that sell the most. (Nobody likes to work for free!)
I like seeing male products in the stores because I want choices when I do a scene and there are far too few choices when it comes to the male wardrobe and hair. And I buy a lot less female products, not because I don't want female products, but because 1) I already have a ton of stuff for the females, and 2) I balk at any product that objectifies women, even the digital ones. (But if the preponderance of skimwear in the store is any indication, that is what sells the most!)
All that aside, if Zev0 and friend(s) ever decide to create a male version of Skin Builder, I'll buy it in an instant.
It seems like real life to me. When you go into a mall or store. There are more sections for woman. My Mall in the city has 12 stores just for woman. And none that are just for men. There use to be one, though it went out of business.
I just picked up this Skin builder, it's an amazing product. It would be cool for a male version. Though I have read this entire thread. And see how this product came to us. I'm thankful we got this one. This product is a true product of love. Rest well DraagonStorm. Thank you Zev0 and DiscoBob for continuing and bringing this to us.

You could use a tool like http://kruelgames.com/tools/kuadro/ to keep screenshots of a render of your hair to compare to how the brows turn out. You can eye the color or you could take said screenshot into an image editor to eyedrop the hair color for the rgb values.
I have another question that I hope someone can answer. Are we allowed to further customize the textures once they are finished in Skin Builder? I have read through this entire thread and although there isn't a no brow option I can create one in photoshop and add it manually to my character and save as a material preset. Is this allowed or not? I want to add a bit more detail to the eyeshadows/liner and also to the iris of the eyes, enhance color etc. Basically can the textures be altered in photoshop and still be ok with the MR agreement?

This is true. There isn't a no-brow option, mostly because a Brows Remover product exists separately. You can remove the brows with it before going into Skin Builder and then use this one to add a new set of brows to your texture :)

I don't see why not. The nature of an MR is so you can add to it/alter it, not use as is.

Thanks for your replies and since that seems to be the only option for the no brows does that also mean that further customizing the textures in photoshop after they are complete in Skin Builder is not allowed?

Thanks FSMCDesigns That's what I was hoping for. :)
Wanted to share a tip.. I found a workaround for the window size of the program being too large for some. This works in windows 10 so not sure about other versions but maybe. Right click on your taskbar and go to settings/taskbar location on screen and move your taskbar to the right or left. That worked for me. As far as the older versions of windows I think you can drag the taskbar to different locations if I remember right.
Skin Builder looks really cool, but I must be doing something wrong. When I select an overlay ("Blush", for example) and set it up (color, visability, etc.), I click "Apply Blush" and the change shows up - but only momentarily. As soon sa the "Blush Applied" dialog pops up, the change disappears. What's wrong? I'd really like this to work.
It's external - made for V4 from a merchant resource and converted with Blacksmith 3D to G3.
The only time overlays will apply and dissapear is if something is wonky in your shader setup. SB3 was created before duel lobe channels that Daz introduced, so if your shader uses that it will confuse SkinBuilder. Just double check your skin shader is using glossy layered weight instead for spec maps.

I would suggest you get yourself this plugin. It works great for me :)
Make the eyebrows a bit darker then the hair color most of the time there are a few exceptions though
I would love a G3M and G8M version.
Just sayin'. :)

Is there a male version of this? I've searched but haven't found anything. I'm femaled out and am focusing on my men. This would be a great help.
AGREED!

...even at Goodwill I notice the same. The section for women's clothing is often three to four times the size of the section for men's apparel.
Maybe Zevo is working on a male version, I would buy it too.
Male version +1

Zev0 has repeatedly said that isn't happening. Of course PA's can always change their mind.
Yeah I saw that further in the thread but just in case he changes his mind he knows that there are potential customers. :)

...for those interested in using SBP3 on male characters Shlosh's G3 M/F UV Conversion tool is on a flash sale.
