I made a quick low baked London cobble brick pathway 72inx32in (Object files). The .Car document is 115 mb large. I had some difficulties uploading 117mb. Some of the screenshots here will show the baked displacement map onto the object. There are no texture maps to any of the objects, the shadows casting upon the now 3d geometrics is what gives it's depth.
I kept the displacement level low to reduce the amount of file size.
Each brick would have had the original file size of 407mb, I reduced it down to 12mb per brick.
407mb baked object has alot more detail quality than the 12mb brick , however far away the details are negligible.
Carrara rendered video with a bit of that other software at the end
Carrara also rendered the dynamic fur like a champ,
yeah did use Octane plugin but still
DAZ studio 3Delight crashed on the LAMH animation sync after 30 frames and I found out 4 hours later after leaving it at frame 28 hence the looped prance
w.i.p. testing Philemo's PBR lighting model (road, foliage, metals)
Once again, a great image - have you thought of adding 'translucency to the leaves and sheets spanning the buildings - I know this will add to the render time, but it seems to me that you are looking for greater levels of 'reality?'

omg much much better than a bumpp map. muy bien
My first animation with “PyCloid”

My second & third animation with “PyCloid”

An attempt at using Carrara's native NPR renderer
test on haze dome hue, intensity and density, and how it affects general lighting
looks good!

very cool Wendy, I think @Headwax could use that cat to catch some of his rats!
I modeled a house yesterday... with toilet paper .. as you do do.... well it is 2020
Love the humour! Does the main character rub his bottom along the floor like dogs do when her done do do'ing?
that is a dog anal gland thing
I believe you are supposed to help them by manually expressing them with your fingers
the door opens!!
Great tip house, Stezza!
yep, the door is a swinger
all these new slang words I'm seeing this morning... always learning but have no idea what a tip house is but thanks
I think tip is what happens when I try to type tp for toilet paper, but screw it up.
aha... an ebil twist

Great experiments - I like the heightened contrast of image one and the colour of image four - it doesn't have the blue shift of the other three!

thx Mystiarra and FENgari :)
still learning Philemo's PBR shader addon but it seems translucency doesn't work properly whereas PBR sss looks good
here another try with PBR sss applied on foliage and sunshades, plus some adjustments
double post

2 hours on a hexacore.
It looks nice. But two hours seems way too long, especially on a hexenbeast.
Why do you think it took so long? If you don't mind me asking, what were your render settings?
i turned on ambient occlusion. and auntie alias on good. prolly what did it
after all that, not happy with bell tower.
thinkin a job for the lathing tool
..“Translucency” - how good is it?
updated video
I got the Quixel Mixer but just have not had time to explore.

A render based on the theory that COVID-19 was caused by Chinese people eating raw pangolin scales to fight impotence.
Even if it's not true, pangolins are the most poached specie in the world for the impotence thing in traditional Chinese medicine.
eat raw?
