I tried exporting max models into objs once. Was a nightmare. Various parts went out of proportion, etc... Then again, I'm still a newbie.

But, as for WillJasper's models. I'd say, give them a crack, convert them, and if they work, give him credit for the original meshes, etc., as I'd love a Poser/Daz copy of his bridges and engineering. But, I'd still say to try contacting him again, once the conversions are done, just air on the polite side, and let him know about the conversions.

    Here's the e-mail listed within the "read-me"...

    wjaspers @ cs.com

    (Remove the embedded spaces.)

Whether or not it's still valid is another matter. Some people change e-mail eery couple of years, if not sooner. Others, like myself, have held onto the same address since 1997.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

If it'll export a 3D studio file, that'll work in Poser. I'll give it try.

In the process of downloading 3Ds Max now- the trial verison. It's supposed to be a full working verison good for 30 days.

    We'll see.

Good luck. I tried doing obj exports of the Super Star Destroyer bridge, Jedi Temple Room and the Padme Balcony sets from SciFiMeshes, and they went wrong. When I loaded the exported obj files into Poser, ppen doorframes became blocked solid. Various areas lost chunks and areas went out of proportion.
If you have any success, let me know.

When you export, do it in pieces and export to .obj for best results.

So many new toys to play with! ...And so little time to play with them!

Anyhoo, using Bluto's excellent new morphs, I present... ODO!

    You would lose.

I have the 30 day trial & apparently my copy doesn't keep up with the 30 day limit.

I have had it installed in a VM for the past few months (I am on OSX and at the moment, there isn't an OSX version). Every time I open it, I expect it to tell me that the 30 days is over, but so far, so good. I have been converting some of David Metlesits' ships that MattyManx hasn't converted yet.

Good. Then maybe this will work then. I've lost 2 days over this mess.

    Edit: Installing 3Ds Max now.

Is he made with Genesis? Those founder-types should be able to morph into anything, after all.... :)

    NICE!

First Test with Magnetmage's Cardassian female morphs, I like them but we need a good texture to go with them

This is the obj conversion of the 3DS Max StII Bridge. The walls don't show up-hell half the model doesn't show up till it's rendered- and look at the viewscreen's frame...

Yet another in my long line of "Works-In-Progress"...

    COLONEL KIRA NERYS!

This one was a toughie in terms of getting a good likeness. The V4 Morphs++ just weren't enough. I had to get i13's Bone Structure from Renderosity to get the chin right. The nose ridges are a displacement map.

Blubeetle, that is an amazing work. I hope you will share it with us; I've got a Kira Nerys project cobbled together, and I'd discard everything I had in favor of that morph.

I think the tight little wrinkles at the corners of her mouth really do it. That's some great attention to detail.

If I could make a suggestion, search for "Hero Hair" by Ice-boy at Renderosity's freestuff page. I think that style is perfect for Odo's hair, especially when you look at the blonde in the thumbnail. Just a thought; hope it helps. I really like where you're going with that morph.

    Thanks Rduda.

Loads fine [I didn't load the textures as I haven't set up all those folders yet] ... but did load in the new viewer I made to see if it would work.

Just puttering with the TW0K bridge Rduda shared last night. No remodeling, just playing with point lights.

These were 2 of my first bridges, maybe some days will revisit them to bring them up to stuff with my others. But I think every one would rather see new stuff.... Right?

New stuff is good, but updates, revisions and upgrades are just as awesome. :)

Madison and all parties interested in the Wrath of Khan bridge set model.... 3ds Max version 8.0 3d model found here: http://3dscifi.com/wjaspers/

This is the most accurate 3d mesh I know of that is readily available. Wil Jaspers has the TWOK bridge, Engineering, TUC STVI bridge, and many other cool models. I've been working on a set of maps to accurize the TWOK, but haven't touched it in awhile. However, it's a very nice set as is for a lot of usage.

    Ken :)

You're forgetting one little detail. 3Ds Max won't work in Poser.
Actually Madison you can import 3D Max files into Poser, I have done so with some of the ships but I have never tried to do something as complex as a bridge set. I also found that for some reason it doesn't always work, not sure if it was an older file or not but it is possible.

You can do 3Dstudio .3ds files, but not .max files.

.3ds, at least as used by Poser, has a low vertex limit (not sure if that's been fixed recently) so it may not be suitable.

It varys with the model. I've imported some 3ds models that worked great and then there are others...
