I think you guys missed the point of the first movie (ignore the sequels), the movie is a scathing parody of world superpowers like the USSR, USA which the book was also.

I wouldn't have minded that so much, but from what I've heard the script was already part done when the writers were made aware of the Heinlein novel — so they plugged in a few character names and plot elements, some of which were totally misunderstood.

    And it shows...

    Yeah so true.

Thanks to Rduda and Bill!! This will definately be used. I'll introduce it at the end of book 9 and it'll be the bridge for book ten.

    Very nice!

Thank you- but Rduda did all the work. I just made use of it. :)

Rduda does indeed do amazing work - I'm dying to see the Voyager-inspired stuff he's been working on. :)

My attempt at the uniform from Star Trek: Final Frontier animated series. Been wanting to do it ever since I'd seen an image of Captain Chase years ago...

Any chance you'll be releasing this?

Well, either way, I hated that film. Only the Roughnecks CGI cartoon show was any good.

The movie was almost a parody of the novel.

The movie was actually a satire of Heinlein himself. I read an interview with Verhoeven in a magazine (I believe it was one of the last print issues of Cinefantastique in which he said he personally disagreed with Heinlein's politics, so he fudged the story and characters in order to make Heinlein look stupid.

Jackass. Haven't bothered with Verhoeven since (and I thought his Total Recall was a pretty asinine movie even before I read this).

Total Recall the movie was nothing like the book - and talking either movie - the book rocked

I guess it is no coincidence that my favorite sci-fi movie and book are "Blade Runner" & "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

even though there are differences in them, the movie is still one of the all time best sci-fi movies ever made

    Which ending? ;-)

I got the extended Director's Cut version a while back, but I don't think I've watched it yet. Intriguing to see how much of the rest of the film changes depending on which ending you see.

There's only one verison of "Bladerunner" I like and that's the original US theatrical release- the verison with Harrison Ford's voice over. There are scenes- moments- in that film that were designed for the voice over and if you watch the verison that doesn't have it, those scenes are dead- there's nothing to them.
As for all that stuff about the Unicorn dream and whether he's a replicant or not, that all came out long after the film was released. I ignore it.
The good thing, though, is that when they released the DVD, they put all 3 verisons on the disc- the original, the overseas verison and the director's cut- you can watch whichever version you want.

I went looking through my files, and I don't seem to have TWOK bridge, although I thought I did. Time to send Richard my email and hope his generosity continues to abide.

Here's the Wil Jaspers Wrath of Khan bridge in DS4.5; a friend with academic access to Max was kind enough to export an .obj for me, which I pulled into Hexagon to tweak some UVs that wound up a little skewed in the process. Nothing fancy on the lighting: a linear point light situated just below the dome, and a little UberEnvironment. The viewscreen image is a framegrab of a Flash animation from lcars.org.uk.

You DO know people reading this thread will be clamoring for the .OBJ version of that mesh, don't you?

Someone better "get on the horn" with Wil Jasper to get his feedback on the matter.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

equinoxx5, that bridge is fantastic. Max offers a 30 day full trial and I've been collecting Max models for the day I finally decide to take my one shot at that. Now that I see how beautiful the conversions are, I might have to just do it!

    Greetings folks.

I have been rather quite of late. I have been occupied working on PA related things for next month so I haven't been working on any conversions until today. All for the better though as I have found a proper solution to the issue of the PP2 files rotating around the center of the scene and not their own center. I will not be redoing older conversions to correct them of this issue due to the vast number of ships involved. I also started converting another ship today but I dont know when I will get it finished due to how occupied I am with PA stuff.
