Complaint: people don't read Craigslist ads all the way! :shut:

I post an ad saying I'm looking for a place late March/Early April (after my foot surgery + healing time), that's near a bus stop since I have eye damage and can't drive, and I get:

    - One respondent whose house is FIVE MILES from the nearest bus :ahhh:
    - One respondent so far out the only bus is a weekday-only commuter bus :bug:
    - One respondent that sounds GREAT but it's immediate move-in :blank:

.. so I deleted my ad. I'm just going to not even LOOK for a new place until the foot is fixed and healed enough for me to run around, I swear, that way I can look for "available now" and not worry about timing things. :blank:

I was super-clear about my restrictions, can't people READ any more?!?!? :ahhh: :ahhh:

I'm gonna go eat my tacos.. meh.

...can't people READ any more?!?!? :ahhh: :ahhh:

It seems not. Can't read, can't write, can't make good decisions. Can't tell the difference between a friend and a stalker, or a player.

Nope, the world is in a sad condition right now. Most don't, or can't, take the time to really know what you're saying. They want't the quick answer, the quick fix, and the quick money. Not even necessarily in that order.

Bored, bored, bored. Watching a test run that needs to go on for a couple of hours before I can feel happy about the code. Urgh.

Reading a nice booklet on tools for self-editing, though! :) Very nice little eBook focused JUST on self-editing, nothing else - and I've already learned enough to justify the cheapie $3.99 cost many times over! I might pick back up on my shelved almost-done novel and see if I can attack it and get it back into completable shape now! :bug: :bug:

Maybe I'll leave my 2D/3D machine at work and just take the writing machine into the temp place, that'll give me additional encouragement to FINISH THE THING!!! :blank: :blank: Tentacles later... :smirk:

2 hours and it's taxi time, go check in, then go to the old place and clean it out.. cab back to new place, hit Whataburger for a nice green chili double burger, and go lie around the rest of the night!

Well, i'm movined into my "temporary" place. From the looks of it I'll be here 6-8 weeks, depoending on the housiung market! :bug:

I met two of the managers today, lovely ladies, very nice. Made all the arrangements to charge my card if I'm in the hopspital getting worked on. Super simple! Just need to load my Walmart card with cash (lol)! :P

The studio is really cute! Full sized fridge, 2 burner stovetop, microwave, TV, place to hang clothes, big bed, remote and alarm clock. The bathroom is pretty decent sized too, with tub/shower and a big sink! Oh, the kitchen has a nice stainless steel sink too.,

I could stay here a long time. The Whataburger is all of 30 feet from the inn, within a block are a sub shop, taqueria, stop and shop, and the bbq truck. OMG the smell from the bbq truck was wonderful! It closed before I came back, but tomorrow night, friends, it's BBQ RIBSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! :cheese: :cheese: :cheese:

The wireless Internet here is literally 3 times faster than at my old place. WTF! Well, it's costing me $10/week for high speed, but it's well worth it.

The bus to work is literally 2 blocks away, and the Whataburger serves breakfast and is open 24/7! :ahhh: And rhwee;s an urgent medical care place in the shopping center, and a certified physical therapy/massage office as well. DANG! :bug:

Dinner was a patty melt from Whataburger and some local beer (Austin Brewing) from the stop and shop.

Thew room is super-secure,m electronic keys so if you don't have the card the handle isn't connected to the lock (lol)! I feel tha tmy gear is safe here.

So far my neighbors are quiet. My room is on the end of the building so I have 2 walls not attached to anyone else. I'm on the second floor,, so it's not a long elevator ride.

Yeah.. I can stay here until my foot heals and I bank lots of cash. I can focus on writing and art! :cheese:

One last beer and to bed! :) :)

Would it in this case be appropriate to wish that your foot heals slowly? ;-P

Thursday morning. Cooking My Last Meal(tm) here - mini egg rolls. :-S That, coffee, and cheese will get me going.

Laundry done and packed, most personal care items packed, clothes packed, fridge empty except for gel ice pack for the foot, very little left to do.. the bathroom, laundry room, and main room are empty. It's all pulled back into my room now.

Will check in to the residence inn after work, cab home, one last round of cleanup then.. call the cab, pack up the computer and go. I'll spend tonight at the new place! :)

Tomorrow: osteopath visit, where I get to find out how bad it is, how much work it's going to take to fix the foot, and how long I'll be out of work with it. :-S Feh. the swelling has barely gone down any, he may be forced to wait longer.. my reading says it can take a week to 2 weeks for a broken bone swelling to subside. :bug:

    Meh, meh, meh, meh. :blank:

I DID keep my 2 plush snakes, the 2 plush sharks, the plush iguana, and the plush lionfish! :cheese: :cheese:

..cool, never can have too many plushies.

...well today begins the end of an era where I've worked for the last almost eighteen years now. At noon, we received the last order transmission from the client that is leaving. Now in the packing up to ship the remainder of the stock to the facility back east phase, close the final billing and that will be it. Been talking with my supervisor and she too isn't sure what will happen. This client brought a lot of stability to the company. Work was always steady, no ups or downs. Built good, solid working relationships with several of their people over the years particularly with their printing division manager.

In a couple days it will be all over,

    Gonna miss them.

After that the needles & pins time for those of us who have been involves with them as we have no idea of where, or even if, there is a place for us with the company.

    ...guess I'll find out soon.

Oh, geez, I hate that kind of uncertainty. I hope it all works out OK for you!!!!

would it be unethical to try for a job with the competition?
if you have a friend with the ex-client, they might give a good reference.
...not into moving to Minnesota. They have Real Winter there! :ohh: (and it really messes with my arthritis)

That's why I left Wisconsin some thirty two years ago.

    ...sounds like a nice deal.

Really was hungering for a Burger Made With Cheese tonight but alas, nothing in the neighbourhood (save fro a semi dive/greasy spoon that over charges for everything). Ended up stopping at the Pizza joint (after stopping at the corner pub for a couple payday pints) for several slices of my Cheese & Sausage favourite. As they were closing down for the evening, they gave me an extra slice and didn't charge for the sausage. Some days things just work out right.
