Must be the humidity, because 82 F isn't that bad. I live in New England, where humidity is almost always the killer during the summer. When I went to California (only time I've ever been there) to get my dad's property ready to sell several years ago, it was October 28 to November 2, and it was 85 F every day. I was working in a small, cinder block homesteader's cabin, with no A/C, and it wasn't bad at all. Back here, I'd have been dying! Or at least melting.

    Dana

Think that was 82 at midnight after a top of around 110, after a few days 0f 100+ even aircon starts to feel warm. South wind cooled us down today, tho everyone is looking a bit tired and frayed still :). Eta 63 F right now, humidity 82%, a little rain. Forecast for tomorrow hot again :)

OK, 82 at midnight is a little tough. But I had many nights like that in the apartment we used to live in. And only a oscillating fan...which actually just blew around the warm air. But the breeze did evaporate the sweat and made it seem like it was cooler.

The air gets so dry in Southern Australia stuff literally shrivels as you watch. The early Aussies learned a thing or two from Aboriginal culture about keeping food, at least, a little moist with a Coolgardie Safe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coolgardie_safe

My dad had told me about the evaporative coolers they used there in the desert, which they called swamp coolers. The desert air is dry. Here, humidity is the killer, holding the heat and making it seem worse. Air conditioners remove the humidity from the air and cool it. That wouldn't work in the high desert in California, there's almost no moisture to remove. I find it interesting the different ways people use to overcome the difficulties of life in their environment. Fascinating, in fact.

    Complaints:
They're still trying to push that DIM on us for downloading.

They still haven't changed the EULA so that it doesn't try to supersede all former legally binding agreements to things we bought in the past. It sets a dangerous precedent, if agreed to. I guess I'll have to agree if I want my freebies, which aren't really free, since I had to pay the PC club renewal fee to be in the "club". Can't even look at my order history unless I agree to that damn EULA. I wish there was a button that said, "I Aggree...but under protest!"

Real dry heat here, humidity less than 20% for most of this year so far. A couple of thousand miles or so further North you get humidty 100% and a couple of feet of rain a day  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tully,_Queensland

I don't get it either. Maybe it's some plasma or energy creature o3o
It looked all gooey and stuff, and seemed like it had shields (!?), but I dunno. It ripped me apart though XD

As far as I know, there are Eels, Crystaloids, Hydras, Dragons (!?), and pirates... I think one or two other things but I dunno.

Speaking of which, ran into ANOTHER crystal, and now this [ See Picture]

Quite a critter-populated galaxy I got tossed into XD
But that is also a really appealing planet it's guarding. Huge Terran, Ultra Rich, and a gold deposit thrown in for good measure.

Space Pirates sound kinda normal tho  compared to Eels. Always associate Eels with hovercrafts  http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels

The night sky I a kind of sickly grey colour with a tinge of orange, is real easy to see Fruitbats silhouetted against bright haze as they swoop around the trees in our garden. Phew, big animals, their wings make a kind of swooshing sound as rhythmic as footsteps, but in the sky :)

unless you are well up the tech tree for ships and weapons, and have a decent size fleet, you are better off avoiding the space critter star systems for now.

    Mmm yeah I'm definitely not high up in the tech tree *yet*. I only just researched Class III shielding and I've got Anti-Matter Torpedoes incoming in a few turns. So... Yeah not ready yet ^_^;

In another question, any recommendations for ship-building when you have low to mid ranged tech? (Prior to being able to build Titans)
This screenshot I took before I stole Shielding I from my [now conquered/eliminated] rival, hence why it's unshielded. Actually, this was taken in the battle that reduced the guy to one colony ^_^; (The ship I have selected is a um... Battleship I think it is? I'm still getting accustomed to the ship ranks :P )

you're still at the stage where more ships is going to do better than building better ships.. as you advance the tech tree weapons and ship systems become more minaturized so you can fit more on to ships.

Well, I've found homes for all the music gear I'm selling. It'll all be gone by Friday, which is perfect timing - will just be a couple of bags of stuff to run to Goodwill this weekend and I'll be stripped down to an optimum minimal level. :-S

I should never have bought all this stuff in the first place - but I did and now I'm paying the price. Past this point, no more purchases of physical things unless I'm replacing something! :ahhh:

Eventually I'll replace the Asus machine with a cCore i7 machine for 2D/3D art, the i5 box will be for music and writing, and the Lenovo tablet will be replace with a Fujitu :Lifebook tablet (touchscreen+pen). The Asus and Lenovo will get sold off. :)

What a pain in the tail process this all is - hopefully I've learned my lesson: TRAVEL LIGHT. :)

...back home very early today. Company owner in a bad mood this morning. When he's like the smallest thing can set him off and you can't say anything that might not be construed as insubordinate behaviour. Now I did nothing inherently wrong save for taking a little time to wait for the timeclock programme to boot up and accept my punch when he told me I was needed on the production floor just after I got in (and was still off the clock). When I got to the floor and apologised for that, he went off and carried on belittling me in front of other co workers claiming I "fooled around all the time". Made the mistake of sighing. That when was he sternly told me to clock out and go home (one would think I just rudely insulted a co worker, screwed up a major shipment, or damaged company equipment) On the way back to my desk I heard him tell my supervisor to write me up on this as well.

This isn't the first time this has occurred and I'm not the only one this kind of thing has happened to.

I get frustrated at the job, I take a walk or find something constructive to divert the pent up energy into. I don't take it out on a coworker nor belittle someone in front of his/her peers.

Maybe its for the better anyay as I'm still not feeling well (bad bout of intestinal cramps the over last few days) - almost emailed I wasn't going to make it in as I was in a lot of pain since last night and didn't sleep very well the last two nights.

...looks like it's finally time to go file the taxes to get my return and start pounding the pavement.

At least I was able to make it home on the same ticket without having to pay a return fare.

Going to lay down take a short nap. If I the pain subsides enough, might go do the laundry.

But no can has strippers until I find a longer term place to stay because the bus stops running early on weekends. unles I budget in $40 for a taxi ride - OWW! :ahhh:

So told to clock out and go home (even though I did nothing "wrong" other than exhale after he humiliated me in front of other co workers for a trivial "non-issue", in the process inferring I was not serious about my job just because it took a couple extra minutes before I was ready as I had to wait for the timeclock programme to open and accept my clock in).

I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Doesn't matter that I deal with nearly 4 hours of commute hell everyday, pretty much leaving me with little to no homelife off the clock and am always on time. Doesn't matter that a lot of the times I come in when I'm not well and should be at home in bed. Doesn't matter that I work on my own time, rarely if ever take breaks (save for lunch which I often work through). Doesn't matter that I streamlined processes and procedures for the one major client we've done business with for over thirty years who will be gone in less than a month (which I never say anything about).

Maybe for the better as I'm still not feeling well (bad bout of intestinal cramps the over last few days) - almost emailed I wasn't going to make it in as I was in a lot of pain since last night and didn't sleep very well the last two nights.
