omg i can't be the first person who wants to prevent special characters from going into a text box. phooey

tried a keypress event and comparing the keyascii number, but if someone pastes in a serial number, completely circumvents the keypress event.

If the language you are using supports regular expressions you should be able to match for standard characters when the field updates, then throw a ding or a warning if there are non-standard. Something like

    [0-9a-zA-Z]*

if spaces aren't allowed, I think.

Code that escapes characters in a user textfield can become a back door for malware injection, need to implement a mechanism with security in mind :)

...@ SickleYield, thanks for translating for me.

Starbucks closed down here, think it was all too complicated for us

    +1 for Down Under.

It is looking more and more attractive all the time. ;-P

The heat is a bit troubling, though. And I suppose it doesn't help that the island is floating a finger length closer to the equator every year. Nobodies perfect I guess. Perhaps Tasmania should have tried harder to hold onto Antarctica after Australia started unzipping from it. Would have been interesting. ;-).

Evening. Is close to midnight here. Been ill for a couple of days, very bad cold OMG who would have thought a nose has so much runny stuff inside?

Had that. When my Dr. examined me he sent off some to be analyzed. Turned out to be brain matter.
    I was shocked! :ahhh:
I didn't know there was any left...

Thanks, that does give clues. need to research ByVal.

one of the troubles with adding reference libraries, the client computers may need those libraries on their pc, if they don't, intermittent functionality fails. it's a hairpullerouter when that happens. :)

...just for fun, I still like to use plain English like "Large" or "Black" when ordering while faking a British accent (which I am pretty good at), really flusters the baristas sometimes. Had one who kept asking "do you mean a Grande?"and I kept replying (in a John Cleese tone), " no, a medium, cream and sugar please".

Tell me about it. Early fire season warnings are out.

85 degrees Fahrenheit is a tad too warm for me.

Looking forward to the possibility of showers Sunday.

..I prefer Umpqua's "Espresso Madness" (a local firm here in Oregon) which has lots of espresso + chocolate chunks in coffee ice cream.
