Tiki bars serving chocolate martinis? by T-less barkeeps?

cawffee would be wonderful right now. arabica cento percento :)

I would love a large latte' with a shot of sugar-free vanilla, but the nearest coffee shop is a 20 minute bus ride...

    Meh. :blank:

But only an hour and fifteen minutes and i can leave! I think fried shrimp for dinner!

do you find it's hard to write without some kind of beverage at the ready?
i also need a box of tissues and lip balm within easy reach.
my desk chair is against the edge of my bed so my buppy can snooze by my elbow, arrangement stops him from nose thumping my elbow. hard to concentrate with 70lbs of doggy nose at the elbow.

It was a dark and stormy night ..., oh doh, wasn't that Snoopy's opening line?

hmm vaguely remembering Capn Picard reading an opening line like that and saying something like "Oh dear". it was episode back when Worf's Klingon head was really big and, oh, someone died in their sleep and Worf said something like, "what an awful way to die"

    Ooooh an eagle D:

    Title: I've had better days...
    Description on the art page:
This guy really took a beating and it shows. He managed to gorge himself on a deer carcass enough to where he couldn't fly away. He endured a 90 mph windstorm on the ground! He wasn't too excited to get his picture taken and ended up taking a trip to rehab. If you've never been this close to an eagle before, it's pretty amazing. His wingspan was about 6 feet.

    it's easy to make.

1 cup flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking flour, 2 tblspn sugar, 1/4 tsp salt - mix those together.
in separate bowl, mix 1 egg, 1 cup milk, melt 2 tblsp butter add to milk/egg.
pour the milk mix into the flour, stir til it's like a lumpy batter.
heat up your fry pan, pour some of the batter in, wait til you air bubbles in the pancake, then flip 'em.

the whole operation takes like 20 minutes. :)

...went to the local cinema down the block where they were showing a mint condition print of all time fave Sci-Fi classic, Forbidden Planet. It was the first film to use an entirely electronic soundtrack long before the days of the Moog. For each musical passage an individual circuit needed to be designed.

Nearly 60 years later I still find it spellbinding.and the vistas breathtaking (particularly the interior of the great Krell machine). This is one of those films that should never be remade (even though JM Straczynski is doing his best to try).

...oh, and the cinema is actually a pub-cinema so you can get a pint or two to sip while enjoying your favourite film.

To be honest, I can't stand old movies. I know I will get a bunch of boo's and hisses. Sorry! Give me a movie with CG and Bluray sound, lots of action and laughter, then I am there. The older movies are, well, too old. They look so fake, the sound quality is terrible and the acting is overly dramatic. I can do some John Wayne war movies & westerns and a few other older movies, but that is about it. I have a 65 inch Panasonic Plasma flat screen, that is heavier than hell, a helluva 7.1 surround sound system and of course a Sony Bluray player. I have to watch movies that make my eyes turn bloodshot and cause my ears to burst. I love it when I can feel the rumble of an action scene. One of my favorite scenes is the beginning of the first Transformer movie, when the helicopter transforms and starts shooting the hell out of the airbase. The crystal clear and extremely loud sound just blows me away. The picture quality is pretty good too.
